The whole is reminiscent of the work of bands such as Atomic Rooster and Writing On The Wall, as well as Pink Floyd of the time. Decidedly intense, serious playing! Limited to 500 copies, numbered 2020 reissue. Strongly recommended! -

ANALOGUE SOUND! The first German edition (from 1971) of the band's seventh studio album, the first after the death of Jim Morrison, whose vocal duties were taken over, jointly, by Ray Manzarek and Robbie Krieger. It is not a record on a par with the previous ones, but it is not as bad as one might think. It has plenty of excellent moments, including the opening "In The Eye Of The Sun", the longest on the record, "Ship w/Sails", and the last one, "Hang On To Your Life". Almost perfect condition. A new, remastered, limited, European edition (IN THE GERMAN POLYDOR SLEEVE FROM 1972, NEVER USED ON CD) of the excellent second album by the once very popular Dutchmen, released by Polydor in October 1971. Considered by many the best achievement of this progressive band (with a charming, female vocal), recalling here the style of the then Pink Floyd (juicily wailing guitar), early Genesis (beautiful melodies) and the debut of King Crimson (mellotron) with a vocal in the style of Mariska Veres of Shocking Blue. The first side of the record was filled with 4 shorter tracks (including the brilliant, building, flagship 'Storm And Thunder'), while the second part of the original vinyl was taken up by the brilliant, title, multi-part, 18-minute suite, kept in a varied but generally dark mood and enchanting with almost symphonic sweep. What is more interesting, the bonus tracks are in no way inferior to 'the second one' and may even be better! The singles (A and B sides) released at the time were splendid, and the added, television versions sound better and stronger than the originals! The booklet contains a reproduction of the black-and-gold front and middle of the original, Dutch sleeve, so nothing has been lost. AN ABSOLUTE MUST! Condition: New, sealed. (JL) -

This is a real treat for fans of this excellent band, and at the same time for lovers of old, classic progressive rock! On the first disc this limited, DOUBLE LP collects excellent recordings not previously published on official vinyls, released only as bonus tracks on the Esoteric reissues of two classic CDs: "Mercator Projected" (1969) and "Snafu" (1970). Above all we have here as many as 30 excellent, thrilling minutes from a recording session made between these two albums! Besides this, two incredibly nice demo recordings from summer 1968, lasting 20 minutes in total, and a mega rarity, that is both sides of the debut, psychedelic single "King Of Siam/Ballad Of Harvey Kaye", released in 1968 (by Polydor). The second record is filled with great, unknown recordings made for BBC radio in 1970-1971 - the vast majority of them in 1970, with the "Snafu" line-up!. The sound quality of sides 3 and 4 is really very good (it is great to listen to), though not perfect. I draw attention to the nice and carefully prepared sleeve and vinyl label - all strongly referring to the graphic designs of the Deram label of the era. In addition, the back of the sleeve contains several nice photos of the band. ATTENTION! Almost all the recordings from the first vinyl appeared 12 years ago, on Verne's first release, "Kings Of Siam". Unfortunately, the record, released in an almost identical sleeve and poorly pressed (on coloured vinyl), did not give full satisfaction, so I assure you that the current, expanded edition will delight all fans of progressive playing! The third album by one of the best British bands of the turn of the 60s and 70s! On "East Of Eden" the band changed its line-up (only the violinist - Dave Arbus - remained), and in the process its style somewhat, almost entirely giving up the psychedelic or jazz madness known from the earlier records and concentrating on somewhat heavier playing, while not shying away from folk style. Of course it is still pedigree progressive - with attractive violin, flute and saxophone parts, while the guitar was played by one Jim Roche - the first guitarist of Colosseum. An excellent album! A somewhat weaker continuation of the style known from the third record - the same year of release, the same label on vinyl (Harvest), but the band toned things down. The album starts excellently, but then the tracks became shorter and the melodies somewhat simplified. Five bonus tracks added, from singles from 1970-73. -

Released in 1970, the unfortunately only album by a great French formation, later transformed into the much more popular band Sandrose. The music of Eden Rose is early-progressive, organ-and-guitar, entirely instrumental (and good!) playing, a blend of the output of Procol Harum, Crazy World Of Arthur Brown, a more progressive Brian Auger and Hell Preachers Inc. Eight substantial, unembellished, at moments strongly classicising tracks with great, overdriven guitar parts and juicy Hammond organ. That is how they played only in 1969-70! Plus two tracks from a rare single. A MUST! (JL) -

A new, remastered and, with 4 rare tracks, expanded, great-sounding, European edition of the somewhat forgotten, though excellent, debut, released by Philips in July 1971, by the then later very popular German progressive band. In the early period (before 1973) the Eloy musicians were inspired by the hard rock achievements of British bands, which contrasted with the gentler, more subdued style dominating the later (after 1974), more Floyd-like work... Made in a special sleeve, cut out on the front in the shape of... a dustbin lid (with a cut-out flap!), the LP contained a mighty dose of hard rock playing with distinct influences of progressive rock and a psychedelic atmosphere. Musically the record relied on heavy, guitar riffs, distinct Hammond organ parts and a strong rhythm section. Something like the work of Atomic Rooster, Deep Purple, Uriah Heep and Black Sabbath. The album went completely unnoticed and original, well-preserved copies cost around 800 euros! Additionally 4 recordings from 1970 are included: 2 sides of a single released privately by the band and another 2 recordings unreleased on vinyl. This edition contains 1-2 more tracks than previous editions! A MUST! Condition: New, sealed. (JL) -

Limited to 500 copies, a beautifully produced (in a gatefold, laminated sleeve with nice photos of the band) 53-minute British black vinyl, containing an excellently recorded concert from March 1971, not previously released on record (only on a rare DVD), recorded in Brussels, four months after the release of the brilliant debut album. The band presented the whole first side in slightly extended versions, plus a 17-minute version of The Nice's classic "Rondo" and "Nutcracker" combined with bluesy rock and roll. The sound quality is excellent and it is a fantastic complement to the classic album "Pictures At An Exhibition", recorded two weeks later! Together these two albums present the band's full live repertoire of that period! And that superb cover! A must!
