A German band with a British vocalist. Typical, progressive, juicy sounds based on the interplay of organ and guitars predominate (including two tracks of 9 minutes each), which does not mean, however, an absence of quasi-acoustic passages. A folk-psychedelic, second album by a South African band, oscillating here between the style of Traffic, Donovan, Incredible String Band and Fresh Maggots. Two tracks last ten minutes each. Among the compositions covers of other artists' recordings predominated, while the instrumentation includes, among others, acoustic guitars, flute, percussion, sitar, tabla and so on. Decidedly psychedelic and at the same time melodic playing - to tell the truth sounding more like 1968-1969 than 1971. In addition seven tracks from the debut LP "Silver Trees". Condition: sealed -

A new, remastered, limited, European edition of the sensational second album, recorded in the summer of 1970 and released only in 1971, by a Danish progressive band referencing here the style of the then work of Procol Harum, Van Der Graaf Generator, Beggar's Opera and even Uriah Heep in their most progressive, early guise. Unlike the debut, containing two long, 20-minute suites, this record consisted of somewhat shorter, 5-8 minute, though also fascinating compositions (making somewhat greater use of the guitar sound than before) - with the brilliant, dark 'Invasion' in the leading role. Both albums belong to the very top of European prog rock of the time! NOTE! The band's debut album came out simultaneously in the same edition. AN ABSOLUTE MUST! Condition: New, sealed. (JL) -

"Disaster (Lüüd Noma)" from 1971 is one of Amon Düül's most raw and radical achievements. The music is largely improvised in character – the pieces develop freely, without clearly outlined themes, relying on repetition, texture and a gradual build-up of tension. The sound is raw, at times even primitive, with a dominant role for drums, percussion instruments and chaotically played guitar and keyboard parts. The recordings balance on the border between music and sonic experiment – there are trance-like and psychedelic elements, as well as influences of ethnic music and free jazz. The whole gives the impression of being more a record of the creative process than a classically constructed album. A 1996 reissue, only one copy, new, sealed. -

American digipak edition of two albums (on one CD) by a British band that was a straightforward continuation (after the name was shortened) of Andwella's Dream (LP "Love And Poetry"). The first album (from 1970) contained intelligent and melodic music with a progressive tinge in the vein of Jethro Tull and Procol Harum. The second record (from 1971), though similar, was already considerably weaker - leaning more towards American rock à la The Band. Even so, I recommend it for the sake of the LP "World's End". (JL) -

A great record, though a rather difficult one to describe. Free-flowing, guitar-driven playing - it is supposedly hard rock but of a... sophisticated kind (acoustic guitar, sometimes Hammond), eclectic, not too sharp and at times psychedelic! This Canadian band went on to record plenty of mediocre records, but the debut is superb. A must! (JL) -

A British double edition of the first two albums by this once popular group led by two former members of The Zombies - the group responsible for the absolutely brilliant LP "Odessey & Oracle". Both albums, released in 1970 and 1971, are characterised by catchy melodies, a subtle mood and an elegant, full sound resembling the more progressive, more mature sound of The Zombies. Highly recommended! -

This is live material from 1971, showing the band in its best stage form. Ashton, Gardner & Dyke combine rock with jazz and rhythm & blues – there is a lot of improvisation here, extended instrumental parts and free-wheeling playing. Characteristic are the organ and piano, which give the whole a lightly jazzy, at times funky feel. The music is dynamic, but also full of ease and humour – typical of the British scene of the turn of the 60s and 70s. A 2017 reissue. Only one copy! New, sealed. -

An excellent-sounding, European vinyl reissue from the Ethelion label of the only album, originally released in 1971 by the Swedish Sonet, by a Swedish band playing energetic, quite raw hard rock (with organ and occasional piano) with clear progressive influences - a bit in the style of November and Deep Purple. The original LP is worth around 500 euros, so it is certainly worth investing 5% of that amount in this limited edition! Highly recommended! -

Limited to 500 copies, a beautifully produced (gatefold, laminated sleeve with superb photos of the band) 54-minute British black vinyl, containing radio recordings by one of the best British heavy rock bands of the early 70s. The first side has five recordings of excellent quality, recorded for BBC radio in 1970-1971 (including two tracks with the line-up of Carl Palmer and John Cann), and four tracks recorded live in the studio at the same time for TV Bremen - also with perfect sound. Note! The BBC recordings sound right for the first time, as it turned out that the earlier versions (released, among others, on the Hux label's CD "Devil's Answer" and as bonus tracks on the reissues of the first two CDs from Sanctuary) sounded far too slow (a few of them can be found on YouTube for comparison) - so slow that they were impossible to listen to! Now all of the first five compositions sound excellent! From start to finish it is a wonderful record - as good as (if not better than) the classic "Death Walks Behind You"! A must! -

A limited European CD, lasting 78 minutes, containing radio recordings by one of the best British hard rock bands of the early 70s. Above all the disc contains five recordings in excellent quality, recorded for BBC radio in 1970-1971 (including two tracks with the line-up with Carl Palmer and John Cann). Note! The BBC recordings sound right for the first time, because it turned out that the earlier versions (released, among others, on the Hux CD "Devil's Answer" and as bonus tracks on the reissues of the first two CDs on Sanctuary) sounded decidedly too slow (several of them can be found on YouTube for comparison) - so slow that they were unlistenable! Now all of the first five compositions sound excellent! In addition, the CD contains six tracks (including the 13-minute "I Can't Take No More") also recorded live (1970-1971) in the studio for TV Bremen - also with perfect sound. Finally, three recordings from a concert for BBC radio from 1970 have been added (still with Carl Palmer), in slightly worse but acceptable quality. In addition, plenty of recordings from singles (including a rare one from 1974) and several alternative versions. The sole album by a British band performing music that combined the styles of The Moody Blues, The Beatles (from the "Abbey Road" period) and Neil Young, with elaborate vocal parts. Released in 1971 by Polydor, the record unfortunately got no promotion at all and vanished completely on the market of the day. A 2013 reissue limited to 500 copies, released by Record Collector Magazine. It contains a gatefold insert with lyrics and photos, a certificate and an additional single. Highly recommended! (JL)
