SONS OF CHAMPLIN - SONS OF CHAMPLIN - Loosen Up Naturally / The Sons / Follow Your Heart (1969-1971) (2CD) - UK BGO - LISTENprice: 92,00 PLN 85,00 PLN / 21,25 EUR
Three albums (including the two-disc debut from 1969) on a two-disc CD. Classic, fairly improvised, strongly eclectic American playing with organ and light brass, once released by Capitol Records and harking back to the style of Quicksilver, Jefferson Airplane, Mothers Of Invention, Blood Sweat & Tears and CS&N. The first album was decidedly the best, though the later ones are also charming. Highly recommended! -
SPIDERS (MEX) - SPIDERS - Back - US Mandala Digipack Edition - LISTEN - VERY RAREprice: 60,00 PLN / 15,00 EUR
A very nice, psychedelic-progressive album from Mexico. This English-language record, dating from 1970, contains fourteen fairly short, though substantial, tracks based above all on nice organ parts and heavyish guitar. At times the band sounds like a combination of psychedelic American rock in the vein of The Doors, with early-progressive touches à la Procol Harum. A really nice, absorbing album. Very good sound quality, although in the quiet moments you can hear vinyl crackle... All the same, highly recommended. (K) -

A four-disc edition of an album recorded by members of the band at the time the band's activity was suspended. The record was rejected by the label and plans for its release were abandoned. Randy California returned to it at the turn of the 70s and 80s, then added new parts, and the material was mixed once again. In 1981 it came out as "Adventures Of Kaptain Kopter & Commander Cassidy In Potato Land", credited to Spirit. The box set, released in 2019, contains: on CD1 - the original from 1973, on CD2 - the version from 1981, on CD3 - a performance by the group California, Kapt Kopter for KPFK FM Radio of Los Angeles, from 13 September 1972, and on CD4 - recordings for the same radio station, from seven days earlier. 22 bonus tracks have been added to the discs. SPIRIT - SPIRIT - Spirit +4 - GER Repertoire Remastered Expanded Digipack Edition - LISTENprice: 70,00 PLN / 17,50 EUR
A fantastic and yet hugely underrated (especially here...) album! A wonderful combination of airy, psychedelic rock with folk, jazz and Hendrix. Without a doubt top five of American playing! There is not a single weak moment on the record, and it includes the stunning "Fresh Garbage", the 10-minute, improvised "Elijah" and "Gramophone Man" - known to some from the Woody Kern LP. The record also has the instrumental "Taurus" - from which the Zeppelins 'ripped off' the acoustic intro and arrangement for "Stairway To Heaven"!!! Repertoire digipak, with four bonuses. (JL) -

SPIRIT - SPIRIT - Two Sides Of A Rainbow - Live At The Rainbow 1978 (2CD) - UK Esoteric Remastered Edition - LISTENprice: 90,00 PLN / 22,50 EUR
A double album containing the entire concert (including six encores) from the Rainbow Theatre in London, on 11 March 1978. The performance was recorded with a live album in mind, but there were problems with the sound, so some of the recordings appeared on "Live Spirit" from the same year, together with tracks from other concerts. The whole recording (taken from the mixing desk) was only released in 2012. This is the remastered 2019 edition, in a tri-fold digipak, additionally containing the American version of "Live Spirit", with parts overdubbed in the studio. -
SRC - SRC - Milestones - US Micro Werks Edition - LISTENprice: 75,00 PLN / 18,75 EUR
The second album by an excellent psychedelic band, inspired among others by the work of the Pretty Things of the "S.F. Sorrow" period, and besides that by Hendrix, The Beatles and early British rock generally. -
STACKRIDGE - STACKRIDGE - Stackridge +4 - UK Esoteric Expanded Digipack Edition - LISTENprice: 70,00 PLN / 17,50 EUR
Released in 1971 by MCA, the debut album by a respected and once popular British band, directly echoing late pop-psychedelia and folk rock of the late 60s, with a pinch of early progressive rock. In fact it is hard to define the band's style unambiguously. The music is not very complicated, but the tracks are richly arranged - with very clear influences of late The Beatles, as well as The Moody Blues, but also the Incredible String Band, Simon & Garfunkel and even a bit of Zappa... All in all it is a very nice record. 2023 reissue, with bonus tracks in the form of one B-side of a single and three recordings from John Peel's programme on the BBC, from 21 September 1971. Highly recommended! (JL) -
STELLE DI MARIO SCHIFANO - STELLE DI MARIO SCHIFANO - Dedicato A... - ITA Card Sleeve Edition - LISTENprice: 80,00 PLN / 20,00 EUR
Released in 1967 and today having cult status, the only album by an ephemeral, Italian band. Musically it is a very interesting record that was meant to be the Italian answer to the Velvet Underground. The result is a genuinely convincing, very 'atmospheric', though at times rather difficult to take in, album combining psychedelic rock with elements of the avant-garde, folk and jazz. A 2017 reissue, in a gatefold sleeve. Highly recommended! -

SURPRISE PACKAGE - SURPRISE PACKAGE - Free Up +1 - SWE Flawed Gems Edition - LISTEN - VERY RAREprice: 60,00 PLN / 15,00 EUR
Released in 1969, the only album by a great American heavy-psychedelic group, without a doubt looking up to Iron Butterfly of the "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida" period (that is good!) and to the then output of Vanilla Fudge and The Doors. A great advantage of this record is the wonderful overdriven guitar sound - on a par with the Hammond organ filling the sonic spectrum. Fortunately the LP has no filler, and particular attention is deserved by the 7-minute, mighty "100% Vision" (ah, that guitar!) and the 16-minute, excellent "Free Up" - a very intense track, at moments deceptively reminiscent of an Iron Butterfly suite (there is a drum solo, a superb guitar solo and organ slow-downs), yet it is so good to listen to that any 'borrowings' do not matter in this case. In addition, a cover, released only on a single, of the (very popular at the time) hit "MacArthur Park" is included. This is a psych rock masterpiece from the American second division. A MUST! -
SYN (see also: Yes) - SYN - Flowerman - Rare Blooms From The Syn 1965-1969 - UK Grapefruit Digipack Edition - LISTENprice: 70,00 PLN / 17,50 EUR
A compilation released in 2021 containing tracks by the British psychedelic band, one of whose founders was Chris Squire (and Peter Banks joined it soon afterwards), from 1965-1969, when it never got a record released (which happened only after the reunion in 2004). In 1967 the band released the singles "Flowerman / 14 Hour Technicolour Dream" and "Created By Clive / Grounded". Besides these, the album contains, among other things, a five-minute fragment of a rehearsal of the track "Gangster Opera", a demo version of "Flowerman", an acetate of the then unreleased "Merry-Go-Round" and two tracks by the band (including a cover of "I Can't Explain" by The Who), still under its earlier name - The Selfs. As bonuses two demo tracks recorded in 1974, in the line-up: Squire, the vocalist Steve Nardelli and the keyboard player Andrew Pryce, and "Grounded 2004" from 2004. -

T.I.M.E. (see also: Steppenwolf) - T.I.M.E. - T.I.M.E. +1 - SWE Flawed Gems Remastered Edition - LISTEN - VERY RAREprice: 60,00 PLN / 15,00 EUR
On CD for the first time as a single disc! Released in 1968 by Liberty, the debut of this American formation contained a sizeable portion of fairly light, melodic, guitar-driven psychedelic rock (with garage influences), modelled on the work of The Beatles, Buffalo Springfield, Love and The Byrds. This superbly produced record will certainly appeal to most fans of the formations mentioned above! The band's second album ("Smooth Ball" from 1969) was much heavier, although opinions on 'which is better' are divided. Plus a track from a single. Recommended! -
T.I.M.E. (see also: Steppenwolf) - T.I.M.E. - Smooth Ball - SWE Flawed Gems Remastered - LISTEN - VERY RAREprice: 60,00 PLN / 15,00 EUR
Remastered and released for the first time on a single CD, Swedish edition of the second album in the discography (released by Liberty in 1969), a truly great one, by an American group playing heavy-psychedelic rock combining the style of Hendrix, Cream, Vanilla Fudge, Blue Cheer and Savage Resurrection. Absolutely classic, guitar-driven (and catchy at the same time) playing adorned with numerous sound effects and guitar distortion. It is one of the best albums of this genre! A must! (JL)
