STACKRIDGE - Stackridge +4 - UK Esoteric Expanded Digipack Edition - LISTEN

Released in 1971 by MCA, the debut album by a respected and once popular British band, directly echoing late pop-psychedelia and folk rock of the late 60s, with a pinch of early progressive rock. In fact it is hard to define the band's style unambiguously. The music is not very complicated, but the tracks are richly arranged - with very clear influences of late The Beatles, as well as The Moody Blues, but also the Incredible String Band, Simon & Garfunkel and even a bit of Zappa... All in all it is a very nice record. 2023 reissue, with bonus tracks in the form of one B-side of a single and three recordings from John Peel's programme on the BBC, from 21 September 1971. Highly recommended! (JL)
