CD
WE ALL TOGETHER (see also: Laghonia) - WE ALL TOGETHER - We All Together - ITA Get Back / Munster Card Sleeve Edition - LISTEN - OSTATNIE SZTUKIprice: 80,00 PLN / 20,00 EUR
If you adore The Beatles, solo Paul McCartney and Badfinger - you cannot pass up this CD! Released in 1972, the debut album by a Peruvian band (descended from the psychedelic legend Laghonia) was almost a copy of the sound of the aforementioned artists, though at times psychedelic influences could be heard (including the wonderfully overdriven bass in the track "It's A Sin To Go Away", known from "Nuggets II"). Catchy compositions, flawless, rich vocal harmonies and professional production. An Italian edition in a gatefold card sleeve, from 2007, no longer in production. Highly recommended! (JL) -

WEST COAST POP ART EXPERIMENTAL BAND - WEST COAST POP ART EXPERIMENTAL BAND - A Door Inside Your Mind - Complete Reprise Recordings 1966-1968 (4CD) - UK Grapefruit Remastered STEREO & MONO Edition - LISTENprice: 170,00 PLN / 42,50 EUR
A four-disc box set containing the mono mixes (for the first time on CD) and stereo mixes of the band's three albums, recorded for Reprise: "Part One" and "Vol. 2" from 1967 and "Volume 3: A Child's Guide To Good And Evil" from 1968. The fourth CD contains previously unreleased recordings from the sessions for "Vol. 2" and an alternative mix of "Volume 3: A Child's Guide To Good And Evil", as well as single tracks. On all the albums the band charmingly combined catchy melody with an atmospheric, guitar-driven sound, unconventional vocal parts and a psychedelic aura. 40-page booklet inside. Highly recommended! WHALEFEATHERS - WHALEFEATHERS - Whalefeathers (2nd Album) - SWE Flawed Gems Remastered - LISTEN - VERY RAREprice: 60,00 PLN / 15,00 EUR
I admit that for forty years this has been one of my (many) favourite American albums from the early 70s! Perhaps because I got to know it at the very beginning of my adventure with 'unknown' rock... Titled simply "Whalefeathers", containing only six tracks (two of them long), the second album by a psychedelic American formation (with progressive influences - mainly because of the ubiquitous Hammond organ), stylistically harking back to the output of Vanilla Fudge, Procol Harum, Cream and (perhaps) Uriah Heep. The opening "World Of Pain" is for me the best cover of a Cream track ever recorded! The closing, slowly unfolding, over ten-minute "Shadows", meanwhile, is a genuine rock monster! It is an almost classic record, though it has a little too many covers - albeit very good ones... The vinyl in this beautiful cover once came out only in England (now on CD for the first time) on the usually blues label Blue Horizon. This edition sounds better than the old Akarma edition (2 in 1 - released together with the 1970 debut "Declare") - not to mention the German SPM version from 1990. A must! -
CD
WHITE NOISE - WHITE NOISE - An Electric Storm - UK Remastered Edition - LISTENprice: 60,00 PLN / 15,00 EUR
The British counterpart of the group The United States Of America - only less rock and somewhat more experimental. The album is characterised by a very gloomy mood and numerous experiments with sound. A fascinating, though rather difficult title. Remastered British edition. -

WILD BUTTER (see also: Damnation Of Adam Blessing) - WILD BUTTER - Wild Butter - SWE Flawed Gems Edition - LISTEN - VERY RAREprice: 60,00 PLN / 15,00 EUR
On CD for the first time! I admit that I am a great fan of this American group/record, and buying the original LP was one of the nicer musical surprises of 2007 or 2008. Released at the beginning of 1970 by United Artists, the album contained unconventional rock music in a very British style (with clear progressive influences - mainly thanks to the use of organ and piano) and resembling a combination of late The Beatles, The Moody Blues, early, rock-oriented Neil Young and the excellent, though underrated, group Damnation Of Adam Blessing. Incidentally, two guitarists from Damnation took part in recording this little masterpiece, and the second track on the record, "Terribly Blind", is an absolute guitar classic! So all lovers of well-produced, heavyish, yet on the other hand subtle rock should definitely take an interest in this CD! A MUST! -
CD
WILD SILK (see also: Little Big Horn) - WILD SILK - Visions In A Plaster Sky - Complete Recordings 1968-1969 - UK RPM - LISTENprice: 70,00 PLN / 17,50 EUR
A compilation of recordings by a British soft-psychedelic band in the style of Sagittarius and Millenium, which later turned into the progressive Little Big Horn. Several recordings by the latter band appear at the end of this rare and long out-of-print CD! -
CD
YARDBIRDS (see also: Jeff Beck / Led Zeppelin) - YARDBIRDS - Live Yardbirds (featuring Jimmy Page) - ARG Lost Diamonds Digipack Edition - LISTEN - VERY RAREprice: 60,00 PLN / 15,00 EUR
The long-awaited CD edition of the legendary album recorded in March 1968 and released by American and Canadian Epic in 1971. Unfortunately, after just a few days the LP was withdrawn from sale following fierce opposition from Jimmy Page, which of course made the record a considerable rarity on the spot. Playing as a quartet, the Yardbirds appear here as a genuine psychedelic formation, on the one hand still mindful of their rhythm'n'blues roots, but playing with rock verve and not shying away from long improvisations - as befitted 1968! The band even plays "I'm Confused" here - an early version of "Dazed And Confused" (a song Page stole in 1967 from one Jake Holmes). This is sensational material and I admit honestly - alongside the 1966 album and the classic singles - it is without a doubt the best thing this wonderful band ever recorded! Seriously - this is an obligatory CD for every rock fan - also because of the good sound quality. A must! (JL) -

YARDBIRDS (see also: Jeff Beck / Led Zeppelin) - YARDBIRDS - Live In Sweden 1967 - EU Repertoire Remastered Digipack Editionprice: 80,00 PLN / 20,00 EUR
From the publisher: "An album containing eight tracks recorded live in Stockholm in April 1967, presented in the highest sound quality to date. The band with the line-up of Keith Relf, Jimmy Page, Chris Dreja and Jim McCarty was then at the start of a tour of Scandinavia." -

YARDBIRDS (see also: Jeff Beck / Led Zeppelin) - YARDBIRDS - Ultimate Live At The BBC (4CD) - EU Repertoire Remastered MONO Editionprice: 190,00 PLN / 47,50 EUR
A four-disc set containing three CDs with material from the Jeff Beck era, while the fourth documents the period when Jimmy Page replaced him. Over the last 25 years several editions of Yardbirds BBC material have appeared, but 30 of the tracks included here have not been heard since they were broadcast, and almost all the rest are marked either by a huge improvement in quality, or at least sound better compared with previous releases. -

YELLOW PAYGES - YELLOW PAYGES - Volume 1 - EU Walhalla Edition - LISTEN - VERY RAREprice: 60,00 PLN / 15,00 EUR
A truly very good, unfortunately only, album by an American band playing dynamic and at moments quite heavy psychedelic rock (with elements of pop ballad) in the vein of Nazz, Cream, The Who and The Yardbirds (from 1968). Highly recommended. (JL) -

CD
YUYA UCHIDA & THE FLOWERS (see also: Flower Travellin' Band) - YUYA UCHIDA & THE FLOWERS - Challenge! +7 - EU Eclipse Expanded Edition - LISTEN - VERY RAREprice: 60,00 PLN / 15,00 EUR
Released in summer 1969, a classic of the Japanese psychedelic rock circle! The Flowers included, among others, two future members of Flower Travellin' Band! This very nice album generally (apart from one sensational, instrumental psych rock number composed by the band) contained successful, very dynamic covers of classic psychedelic tracks from the repertoire of, among others, Janis Joplin, Cream and Jimi Hendrix. In addition two recordings from the sessions for the album ("Fire" by Arthur Brown and "Five To One" by The Doors) and five superb tracks (including "How Many More Times" and "You Shook Me" from the Led Zeppelin repertoire) recorded at a concert in Tokyo, on 26 January 1970. A MUST! (JL) -
CD
ZAPPA, FRANK & THE MOTHERS OF INVENTION - FRANK ZAPPA / MOTHERS OF INVENTION - Freak Out! - US Zappa Records Edition - LISTENprice: 60,00 PLN / 15,00 EUR
A legendary debut (recorded between November 1965 and January 1966) - released on vinyl as a double long-player. The first part was filled with short, almost garage (Stones-like) tracks mixed with mocking rhythm'n'blues; while the second part was taken up by several long, mega-psychedelic numbers full of malicious humour (including the mockery of Elvis in "Help I'm A Rock") and full of far-out manipulations of sound, tape speed shifts and strange noises. Zappa Records edition, from 2012. Highly recommended! (JL) -
CD
ZAPPA, FRANK & THE MOTHERS OF INVENTION - FRANK ZAPPA & MOTHERS OF INVENTION - We're Only In It For The Money - US Zappa Records Editionprice: 82,00 PLN 80,00 PLN / 20,00 EUR
Zappa's superb, fourth album (though the third with The Mothers Of Invention) - a brilliant, musical mockery of the hippies and the whole psychedelic scene of the time, though sometimes it seems that the band was playing in earnest... You positively cannot tear yourself away from this record, although at first it may be somewhat surprising... A must! A Zappa Records edition, from 2012. -
CD
