A two-disc, expanded, Australian edition of the album "The Hoax Is Over", by the then most popular Australian band playing in the style of the early Allman Brothers Band. The first disc contains the album from 1971, on which Billy Thorpe & The Aztecs present a heavy, raw sound based on long improvisations. The centrepiece of the record is the monumental, more than twenty-minute version of "Gangster of Love", showing the band in full live energy. It is complemented by, among others, "Mississippi" and "Goodbye Baby", as well as a set of singles and live recordings from the late 60s and early 70s. The second disc has an archival character – it contains previously unreleased demos, live recordings and rare material from 1972–1976. Highly recommended! -

The record contains ten heavy, garage tracks with a dominant fuzz guitar and vocals from all three members of the band. A limited, 56-minute black vinyl from Vernephone, released in France in a beautiful, laminated sleeve, collecting 15 recordings made between December 1969 and July 1971 (practically already after the break-up of The Beatles), and released on the solo albums (and singles) of John, Paul, George and Ringo! Probably every fan of the band has wondered more than once how to put together the perfect album that could have been the successor to "Let It Be" (and chronologically "Abbey Road")! In my opinion the Verne compilers managed it and included all the hits from 1970-1971 ("My Sweet Lord", "Imagine", "Another Day", "What Is Life", "Mother", "Maybe I'm Amazed" and "It Don't Come Easy"), but also classic, Beatles-like numbers, such as "Gimmie Some Truth", "How Do You Sleep?", "All Things Must Pass", "Monkberry Moon Delight" or "The Back Seat Of My Car". Decorated with a very nice sleeve, the album is something truly special, and of course an excellent complement to The Beatles' catalogue albums - especially for fussy listeners who value the solo achievements of Lennon, McCartney, Harrison and Starr less. Admittedly the guy on the cover looked like a caveman (and in reality in the 60s he was a wrestler popular in the States), yet this album, recorded in 1971, contains great, bluesy, slightly swaying and quite heavyish rock with nice guitar parts, organ echoing in the background and occasional brass. A big surprise, all the more so as Beauregarde could sing too. Sometimes you can hear slight vinyl crackle, but I recommend it anyway! -

This sole, entirely instrumental album, released in 1971 by an ephemeral British band, is counted as so-called 'library music', that is, illustrative music usually created by top session musicians for low-budget films, documentaries and so on. Records with this kind of material were released by specialist labels in minimal runs and today are vinyl rarities. A typical example of this subgenre were The Pretty Things' records released under the Electric Banana banner. The record is a slab of solid, atmospheric and very trance-like playing on the edge of psychedelia, pop and early progressive rock. The whole sounds as if it were made in 1968 or 1969. Highly recommended! Spanish reissue in a round sleeve, no longer in production, limited to 500 copies. (JL) -

This is probably the best and most progressive item in the band's otherwise consistent and recommendable discography! Several extended tracks of 8-10 minutes (recalling the work of heavy Pink Floyd, Deep Purple, Atomic Rooster and ELP) - so typical of top-shelf German playing! At the time Operation was released by the legendary German label Ohr and as an original (with a five-digit catalogue number) it is worth over 300 euros; so this very tasteful reissue is quite a good alternative for vinyl collectors. A must! Condition: NEW, sealed. -

A limited European CD, lasting 76 minutes, containing a concert from Copenhagen from April 1971 (47 minutes). In addition, an excellent 20-minute fragment of a performance from Sheffield, England, from January 1971 (alongside a very early version of the rare "Into The Void" with an early lyric, also containing the only known performance of "After Forever"), as well as an 11-minute "Wicked World" from Copenhagen from December 1970. Unlike several recordings from 1970, there is not a single great-sounding Sabbath concert from 1971, but Copenhagen without doubt sounds the best! The sound quality is really good! Not perfect, but for a 1971 'audience recording' - no complaints! A slightly worse-sounding and somewhat slowed-down version circulates on the internet. This one is much better (more treble) and with corrected speed! Highly recommended! Condition: New, sealed. (JL) -

Released in a beautiful, gatefold, laminated sleeve (inside which are several nice photos of the band), a single European hour-long vinyl, LIMITED TO 500 COPIES, containing a concert from Copenhagen, from April 1971 (47 minutes). Among the tracks is an early version of the classic "Into The Void", with the original lyrics. Unlike several recordings from 1970, there is not a single great-sounding Sabbath concert from 1971, but Copenhagen undoubtedly sounds best! The sound quality is really good! Not perfect, but for a 1971 'audience recording' - you cannot complain! A much worse-sounding and very slowed-down version circulates on the internet! This one is much better and with corrected speed! At the end of the record a live, 11-minute "Wicked World" has been added - also from Copenhagen, but from December 1970.
