A limited French reissue of the debut album, released in 1971, by the Australian band Blackfeather - one of the best guitar albums in the history of rock and at the same time in the top five rock records from Australia! Thrilling compositions, fantastic guitar solos and plenty of changing but always catchy moods! Two eight-minute tracks, one fourteen-minute one and three no less good, though shorter, pieces. It is worth knowing that the young Bon Scott guested here on percussion - three years later the vocalist of AC/DC! In terms of sound this edition beats the somewhat muffled Akarma edition, and the pressing itself (and the nice, laminated sleeve) is excellent. A MUST! -

Released by Polydor Records in December 1971, a classic and in my opinion excellent album by a Danish progressive band with a full sound based on Hammond organ and juicy guitar sounds, complemented by flute parts and a strong rhythm section. The band as a rule went for compact forms and catchy melodies, though it often switched surprisingly abruptly (changing tempo in passing) between acoustic passages and heavier, organ-and-guitar improvisations. An example is the great overdriven guitar solo coming in suddenly in the first track... The exceptions to the rule were 2 short passages based on a soporific piano backing and a mournful vocal part. Although inspirations from British bands such as Jethro Tull (please listen to the splendid second track), Atomic Rooster, Traffic or Caravan were clearly audible, Blast Furnace's music nevertheless retained its own character. Unfortunately, the album was not a commercial success (the original vinyl in perfect condition sells for 1000 euros), but over time gained the status of one of the most interesting and most sought-after Danish progressive albums of the early seventies. After the band's break-up, two of its musicians joined the band Culpeper's Orchard. Additionally, the A-side of a rare single from 1971 is included as a bonus. This is the best-sounding CD version of this title! A MUST! Condition: new, sealed. (JL) -

Five-disc Sony box set containing the first five albums, from 1968-1972. This band has almost been forgotten, and yet it was a great chunk of jazz rock with a slightly 'progressive' character! The first three or four Blood, Sweat And Tears records are absolute classics today, and the LP "New Blood" was not much weaker. All the CDs are issued as individual card sleeves. Highly recommended! -

A revelation! Released in the summer of 1971, the second album by this great Japanese band is a splendid combination of the style of Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin, at times pushed almost to the extreme - with elements of two lead guitars in the style of Wishbone Ash! Plenty of surprising, ultra-heavy riffs, plenty of changes of tempo and mood, exemplary, slightly bluesy playing by the guitarist and zero filler. The only, small flaw of this sensational album was the vocalist's not entirely convincing English... But who really cares? Alongside the first two records by Flower Travellin' Band, this is probably the most cult album in the history of Japanese heavy rock, and in the original on the Denon label (and in almost perfect condition) it is currently worth 1000 dollars! Additionally included is an 8-minute live version of "Nightmare" (different from the one on the CD "Live!"), previously unreleased on CD! A must! Condition: New, sealed. (JL) -

The live album recorded in 1971 had a somewhat more bluesy character than the LP "Demon...", although the band played even these well-known standards in their own way - very heavily and intensely - with countless extended improvisations. To tell the truth, I cannot recall any Anglo-American band that played so juicily and so mightily live! Compared with the old Japanese CD this edition has two more tracks - from the same concert! 74 minutes in total! Excellent sound quality. A must! -

Recorded in 1971 (unfortunately not released on vinyl in its day - only on CD in 1998), the live album was in the same, very intense heavy blues rock style (Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin and the Allman Brothers Band in one) as the brilliant studio albums "Demon And Eleven Children" and "Carmen Maki + Blues Creation" (both from 1971). Besides that the band presented several blues standards, serving merely as a pretext for heavy, dynamic, guitar-driven improvisations based on the mighty playing of the rhythm section. To tell the truth, I do not recall any Anglo-American formation that played so juicily and so uncompromisingly live! Compared with the Japanese CD this edition has three more tracks (one more than the European CD from the same concert) and - attention! - a different version, recorded a week later, of the track "Nightmare", unreleased on any LP. Excellent sound quality. A must! -

Italian Akarma edition, in a cardboard sleeve slipped into a further multi-fold envelope in the form of a huge cross. Bodkin is a completely unknown, Scottish band which in 1971 recorded at its own expense a great album, based on the heavy sound of guitars and ubiquitous Hammond. The whole thing resembles a little Deep Purple and above all the little-known but great Writing On The Wall. -

An absolute classic of heavy American rock from the early 70s. This band, usually compared to Black Sabbath, released in 1971 just one, single album (worth a fortune on original vinyl - over 5000 dollars, but the problem is also that there are no copies for sale on the market...) containing seven tracks based on heavy guitar riffs (and meaty solos), and set on very strong rhythm section playing - a bit like Grand Funk, Sir Lord Baltimore, Euclid and Morly Grey. The closing, 16-minute 'Dead Meat' ('Dead Man' by Josefus and early Black Sabbath in one) showed the musicians' progressive inclinations, which only added a certain flavour to the whole. No weak moments - just solid heavy rock! Nobody will be disappointed! A MUST! Condition: New, sealed. (JL) -

On CD for the first time! Martin Briley and Brian Engel were two members of the excellent psychedelic formation Mandrake Paddle Steamer - known for the single Strange Walking Man (Parlophone, 1969). After the band split up, in the EMI studios (under the eye of George Martin) they recorded a very nice, slightly Beatles-esque, at moments progressive album which, however, for incomprehensible reasons was not released - until now! The sound quality is perfect, and the richly arranged music, full of little delights, is simply superb! In 1973 the two musicians founded the fairly popular group Liverpool Echo, and in 1975 Briley joined Greenslade. Plus tracks from singles. Album out of print. Highly recommended! ONLY ONE COPY!
