In addition, three recordings from December 1969 (from a slightly earlier session) added at the end of each side of the record. It is American rock classics of the top shelf. A remastered edition of the superb second album, released in autumn 1970 (by the cult label Mainstream Records), by Americans playing a heavy kind of rock in the vein of Cream, Mountain and Led Zeppelin, with catchy melodies and a dirty sound. The second is at times slightly lighter (which does not mean light...) than the overwhelming, ear-crushing LP "Dead Man", although better produced and generally at a very high level. In addition, four nice live recordings from 1969 (including a 26-minute version of "Dead Man" - a pity that it is of average quality) and an excellent number from the single by the band Stone Axe - founded by two members of Josefus. This is one of the most important reissues from Repertoire Records! This CD, released in a digipak, contains an excellent double album recorded in 1971 but not released until 1991 (the fourth in the discography - counting the LP "From Home To Home", released in 1970 under the name Fairfield Parlour), containing the best of Kaleidoscope's pop-psychedelic music - here combined with ambitious, melodic progressive rock of the early 70s! The band put all their money into this record, after which no major label wanted to release it, and as a result it all ended in bankruptcy and the break-up of the group... The music is wonderful and nearly perfect (though the melodramatic cover may put some people off...) and should appeal to every fan of 'psych' and 'prog'. Incidentally, this title, running to over 70 minutes, had been waiting years for a proper edition! An absolute must! (JL) -

Plenty of trance-like, improvised, very psychedelic playing (several tracks of 10-12 minutes) and shorter, concise compositions brushing against blues and country-folk. 45 tracks. Made in 1970 (by a label releasing almost exclusively rhythm'n'blues artists...), a forgotten, though truly intriguing, only album by an American hard rock quartet inspired by Led Zeppelin, Cream, Mountain, as well as Buffalo Springfield and Blue Mountain Eagle. This is early, heavy and catchy playing for two lead guitars and organ - at moments showing the influence of British rock. With the exception of one 8-minute track, the record is filled with short, but very substantial tracks with fiery guitar parts in the foreground. The record came out years ago on a very poor-sounding Akarma CD. Now the sound is perfect! Highly recommended! -
