SOMEONE'S BAND - SOMEONE'S BAND - Someones Band - EU Decca Digipack Edition - LISTENprice: 90,00 PLN / 22,50 EUR
A reissue, awaited forever, of the only and unfortunately completely forgotten album, released in 1970 by the Deram label, by a British progressive band playing heavy rock with elements of blues and sometimes throwing in elements of ethnic music - something like a combination of Savoy Brown, Black Cat Bones, early Fleetwood Mac of the LP Then Play On period and Jethro Tull. To me Someones Band's music is most reminiscent of the only album by the legendary Elias Hulk! Highly recommended! -
SPECTRUM (UK) - SPECTRUM - Light Is Dark Enough +4 - EU Subway Records Expanded Pressprice: 120,00 PLN / 30,00 EUR
The only album by an excellent British pop-psychedelic band, originally released in 1970. A mixture of progressive pop and swinging London psychedelia, with tracks such as "Nodnol", "Gory" and the instrumental, Hammond organ-based "Walrus And The Horse". A reissue additionally containing four single tracks. -
SPIDERS (MEX) - SPIDERS - Back - US Mandala Digipack Edition - LISTEN - VERY RAREprice: 60,00 PLN / 15,00 EUR
A very nice, psychedelic-progressive album from Mexico. This English-language record, dating from 1970, contains fourteen fairly short, though substantial, tracks based above all on nice organ parts and heavyish guitar. At times the band sounds like a combination of psychedelic American rock in the vein of The Doors, with early-progressive touches à la Procol Harum. A really nice, absorbing album. Very good sound quality, although in the quiet moments you can hear vinyl crackle... All the same, highly recommended. (K) -

SPOOKY TOOTH - SPOOKY TOOTH - Live In Berlin 1970 - FRA On The Air Limited Edition - VERY RAREprice: 60,00 PLN / 15,00 EUR
Limited to 500 copies, an hour-long CD containing, among other things, a great, 43-minute recording of a show by the British progressive band that took place in Berlin in December 1970 (sometimes wrongly labelled as Essen 1969). Note the setlist - three numbers from the LP "Last Puff" (in much better, more dynamic versions) and several 'covers' never played on albums! It was a show from the band's last tour (before it split for three years), and the recording features, among others, the excellent keyboardist John Hawken (ex-Renaissance, later in Strawbs) and the bassist Steve Thompson, known from Bluesbreakers and Stone The Crows. The sound quality is very good (it is a copy of a recording from the mixing desk), it is a great pleasure to listen to (there are no other recordings from this period!), although not perfect. In addition, four very nice recordings are included, including two tracks from 1969 from BBC radio - unreleased on the official CD reissues! This is a real treat for all fans of this, in fact underrated, though for some time quite popular band! Highly recommended! -
STALK-FORREST GROUP (see also: Blue Oyster Cult) - STALK-FORREST GROUP - St. Cecilia: The Elektra Recordings (2LP) - EU GREEN VINYL Limited Press - LISTEN - VERY RAREprice: 170,00 PLN / 42,50 EUR
A limited, double album on green vinyl! STALK-FORREST GROUP was the earlier name of the New York band BLUE OYSTER CULT! The sole album, recorded in February 1970 and, without exaggeration, a great one, was to be released by Elektra, but for unknown reasons it never happened (in 1970 only a promotional single appeared, worth 300 euros today) and the material lay in the archive for as long as 30 years! The first (unofficial) vinyl edition from Shadoks came onto the market only in 1999 and today is worth 150 euros. It is one of the best American records I have come to know in recent years - a combination of folk-psych-rock sounds from the West Coast with heavyish, intense, guitar-driven, controlled thrashing, sometimes backed by organ sound. No country, no ballads, no longueurs. The 7-minute "St. Cecelia" is almost the guitar world championship! This is a perfectly produced (Sandy Perlman - later B.O.C.) and instantly catchy guitar record (a bit in the style of legends such as Blue Mountain Eagle, Christopher and Maypole) that every fan of American guitar playing must have. Excellent sound quality. Gatefold sleeve with lyrics inside and a really great pressing! Highly recommended! (JL) -
STATUS QUO - STATUS QUO - Live At The BBC 1968-1970 - UK Maida Vale / Verne Press - LISTEN - VERY RARE - OSTATNIE SZTUKIprice: 150,00 PLN / 37,50 EUR
OUT OF PRINT! LAST COPIES! Superb, 60-minute material released on vinyl for the first time - in a very attractive, laminated sleeve with great photos of the band. Recorded live in the studio (with minor overdubs), the band sounded better than on the early records. The first side is a slab of underrated, exquisite, melodic soft-psychedelic rock, while the second side is much heavier material close to the aesthetics of hard rock. It goes down in one breath, but you have to like the music of the late 60s... All the recordings sound perfect. Please check the YouTube links, although some great tracks were unfortunately unavailable... A must! NEW, SEALED. (JL) -

STEWART, AL - AL STEWART – Original Album Series 1967-1978 (5CD) - EU Remastered Editionprice: 100,00 PLN / 25,00 EUR
A very tastefully released, five-disc box set, containing five albums by this artist endowed with a very pleasant, warm, though "intelligent" voice. The debut (Bedsitter Images from 1967) is a very nice, slightly 'Donovan-like' album full of charming soft-rock melodies, often adorned with plush orchestrations. But the best was still to come! The second in the discography, released two years later, the LP Love Chronicle is already an absolute REVELATION! This fantastic album, unfortunately completely unknown in Poland, was made with the participation of 3 Fairport Convention musicians (under pseudonyms) and with Jimmy Page on electric guitar! It is a folk-psych-rock masterpiece - full of both brilliant melodies and unexpected changes of mood and also not free of early-progressive influences (Hammond organ; an 18-minute, folk suite). Everyone who hears this record is instantly smitten with it - including fans of dense, progressive sweeping... And even despite the fact that it was precisely there that the word "fuck" appeared for the first time in the history of British music (several times...)! Beautiful music! The progressive no. 4 is worth every penny and contains probably the most atmospheric solo in the career of the Led Zep guitarist! The third album was more acoustic than the brilliant predecessor, but still fascinating. The fourth disc contains the artist's most popular album - Year of the Cat (1976) - a great, very melodic and quite ambitious record, which can be described as soft-prog-rock. The fifth disc is Al Stewart's eighth studio album, Time Passages, released in 1978, and at the same time one of his greatest commercial successes. The record combines Stewart's characteristic folk-rock and singer-songwriter narration with a more refined, soft rock-pop production, for which Alan Parsons was responsible. Highly recommended! A MUST! -

STONED ROSE - Stoned Rose – From Dawn To Jane - Guerssen Record Editionprice: 150,00 PLN / 37,50 EUR
A compilation of studio recordings by a British heavy rock band from 1970-1971, which for years remained in the archives. It is a great example of a "missing link" between the psychedelia of the late 60s and the emerging heavier rock of the 70s. The guitars are heavy for their time, at moments almost brushing against proto-metal, and at the same time there are extended, lightly progressive structures. For fans of early hard rock and psychedelia it will be a very valuable discovery, bringing to mind early Black Sabbath, Leaf Hound mixed with High Tide and Arzachel and at times early Pink Floyd. -
STOOGES - STOOGES - Fun House - EU Pressprice: 175,00 PLN / 43,75 EUR
