The only album by this Dutch band is simply a model of European, heavy progressive rock and at the same time one of the 5-10 best guitar albums in history! The vinyl is filled with only four tracks, lasting in turn: 11, 8, 5 and 15 minutes! The greatest attraction of the record is the superb and at the same time very atmospheric guitar improvisations backed by a very solid and juicy rhythm section. If someone would like to hear what a combination of the style of Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin and Wishbone Ash might sound like - they simply must have this album! The nearly 16-minute "Summerfair" closing the record is one of the best rock numbers I have heard in my life! A reissue of the vinyl released in 1972 by EMI Harvest, new, unsealed. An absolute must! An extensive archival release documenting the live face of Carson – one of the most important Australian blues-rock bands of the early seventies. The material comes from concerts and radio performances recorded among others at Thumpin' Tum, the Mulwala Rock Isle Festival, the Sunbury Festival and at Melbourne Town Hall. The band presents here its characteristic style based on a free combination of blues, boogie and hard rock, with plenty of room for guitar improvisation and the spirited playing of the whole group. Released in 1972, the only record by a Canadian, French-language, progressive band strongly echoing the style of King Crimson, Van Der Graaf Generator and Jethro Tull, that is flute, saxophone, nice guitars and intricate compositions. The French language is no obstacle at all, and the band itself knew how to create the right mood, as in the 11-minute, psychedelic 'haunted castle', or in the recordings full of progressive action at the end of the album. Remastered, limited 2019 Canadian reissue, on transparent vinyl. Highly recommended! -

A very nice Spanish reissue (with a gatefold insert) of an album released at the end of 1969, one of the 5 best psychedelic records made at the end of the 60s outside Europe and the USA. A splendid album - a collector's Holy Grail worth, as an excellently preserved original on the Head-Arzi label, around 5000-6000 euros! This Israeli band (with a British guitarist/leader) combined in an original way the aesthetics of British psychedelia (especially in the first part) with heavier, almost experimental sounds (side 2) with the melodies of the local folk. Unfortunately at the time almost nobody in Israel listened to such 'anarchistic' music, which is why the record sold in minimal numbers. Soon afterwards the group went to the UK and transformed into the excellent Jericho Jones and then into Jericho! A must! -

The first anthology by an Italian band with a female vocalist in the style of Earth & Fire. The band now has cult status, but during its existence it had difficulty finding an audience, which may have stemmed from the English lyrics, and also from the fact that the Italian scene was dominated by keyboard-based music, while the basis of Circus 2000's work was the guitar. The set contains both albums, "Circus 2000" from 1970 and "An Escape From A Box" from 1972, as well as nine single tracks and two previously unreleased compositions that were to appear on the third album. The whole thing comes in a gatefold digipak, with an attractive booklet with many rare photos. Highly recommended! (MU) -

The debut by this Slovak formation (led by the excellent organist Marian Varga) was inspired by the work of composers of classical music, as well as the output of The Nice and Procol Harum! The catalogue album was filled with three heavily extended tracks, averaging 13 minutes each; besides that, two tracks from the debut 13-minute EP (from 1970) were customarily added to the contents of the debut, as well as an alternative version, PREMIERED on CD, of the brilliant "Hommage a J.S. The first-ever anthology of the group from Blackpool, who self-released one of the rarest and most expensive albums in the world. In 1970 the quartet pressed 99 copies (to avoid tax) of their debut album, whose sleeve, owing to a production flaw, was slightly smaller than the record. In 1971 the group recorded a second album, "The Way We Feel", released in August of that year by the Deroy label, again in 99 copies. The third CD contains five tracks from an acetate recorded in 1972, as well as the single "Who Got The Love / She Turns Me On" from 1976 and previously unreleased recordings from 1973-1978. The discs come in sleeves slipped into a cardboard slipcase, together with a 24-page booklet containing, among other things, the history of the group. Highly recommended! (MU) -

Released in 1971, the legendary, only album by a Dutch band combining at times heavyish progressive rock with psychedelia and which may bring to mind the Pretty Things' LP "Parachute" (1970), underrated in Poland, as well as the early recordings of Focus and Jethro Tull. As an original on the Negram label it is probably the most expensive progressive record from the Netherlands, fetching 1000-1200 euros in perfect condition. A remastered, great-sounding reissue, unavailable for many years, of the only album, released in February 1973, by a forgotten Swiss band. The band impressed with a high standard of performance and maturity of composition, and at the same time skilfully and variously combined a heavy, organ-and-guitar sound with distinctly British roots with melodic rock. On the one hand you can hear here the influences of Deep Purple, Uriah Heep, Pink Floyd and Van Der Graaf Generator, but also of French progressive bands such as Ange and Triangle. You listen to the record in one breath, because (except for one 3-minute musical joke) it was filled with 'nothing but the dense stuff'! I will only add that on the second part of the original vinyl there was a 20-minute, progressive suite! 'Substratum' remains one of the most interesting, though little-known, records of continental European progressive rock of the first half of the 70s. A MUST! Condition: New, sealed. (JL) -

The two-disc release Cravinkel & Garden of Loneliness presents the complete studio output of one of the most interesting, and at the same time underrated, German bands of the turn of the sixties and seventies. The first album (with a sleeve showing the musicians on a haystack) resembled early Neil Young, while the second is very intense, hard rock (slightly progressive), jamming playing live - in the studio. Only three tracks, rock dynamite! Highly recommended! -

European reissue of the only, completely forgotten, but great album by a British progressive band, originally released in 1970 (only in the Netherlands and Germany), echoing almost directly the slightly jazzy and so typical of 1970 (saxophone, flute, electric guitar, dense drumming) eclectic style of early Jethro Tull, Blodwyn Pig, Traffic and the unknown band Diabolus. Geoff Leigh played the wind instruments - soon after a member of Henry Cow. The only flaws of this album are: the 3-minute, dreary track opening the whole thing, which departs from the style of the rest of the compositions, and the (probably) artificial applause pasted in between tracks. Excellent sound quality! A must for fans of progressive rock! (JL) -

This great CD contains the entire output (in order: first the second record from 1970, and only then the debut from 1969) of a forgotten British formation playing heavy psychedelic/progressive rock. The first contains short, 3-minute tracks in the hard/folk/psychedelic moods characteristic of 1969. The second (once released on LP by Decca - only in Germany), meanwhile, has just six tracks full of heavy, spacious and very juicy playing. Lots of guitars, a nice vocal in the style of a young Lemmy and a veeery solid rhythm section - a complete success. Earlier John Thomas played in Rust, and later in the Edgar Broughton Band (on the LP "Bandages"). Highly recommended! (JL) -

Crni Biseri was formed in Belgrade in 1963 and was among the pioneers of Yugoslav rock and roll. This edition is a compilation covering repertoire from 1969-1970 – from simple beat sound to more extended arrangements of the later period of the band's activity. The set of 23 recordings shows the band above all as a capable guitar group, which skilfully combined its own compositions with interpretations of world hits characteristic of the era.
