Released in 1974, the debut album by this Yugoslav group contained fairly original, hard-progressive material with a sizeable dose of instrumental passages, resembling early Yu Grupa, though delivered at a somewhat slower tempo (especially in the first part). This record will without a doubt satisfy all lovers of Yugo rock! It is one of the 3-5 rarest and most expensive vinyls from the former Yugoslavia - worth up to 400 dollars in perfect condition! This excellent-sounding CD has been supplemented with eight tracks from very good, rare singles and one live track. Highly recommended! (JL) -

This is the band Drugi Nacin under a changed name! Very nice, progressive playing combining, in a way, the style of Uriah Heep with Jethro Tull. The album was released in 1977, but sounds like 1973-1974! In addition, six tracks from singles! It is an ideal complement to the album by the group Drugi Nacin! Highly recommended! -

The first time on CD! I must admit that I have been a fan of this album for some 10 years! Released in 1972 by Atlantic/Cotillion and recorded in Canada, it is the only LP by an American progressive group that smuggled very catchy elements of traditional Jewish music into its work. At times full of mood changes and often very driving, Guns & Butter's music sounds like an early, more lyrical Kansas (violin), although comparisons to early Jethro Tull (a lot of flute) or Wolf would not be unfounded either. Overall it is wonderful playing and, frankly, an album unlike any other. How come nobody released it earlier? Thank you, Swedes! A MUST! (JL) -

This title, released in 1971 by EMI Parlophone, is a superb, strictly progressive, though not heavy-free, album based on the ubiquitous Hammond organ sound of the band's leader - formerly the vocalist and keyboardist of Locomotive. The 13-minute, improvised, galloping "Rabbits" is worth every penny. At the time most shops did not want to stock the album because of its rather blasphemous cover, as a result of which today the original British vinyl goes twice a year on Ebay for 2000 euros! Additionally five rare tracks from singles. A MUST! -

On CD for the first time! The only, unfortunately rather forgotten, album by a very good American formation playing heavyish progressive rock with elements of jazz and a pinch of Latin music. Excellent guitar parts, plenty of keyboards, a strong vocal. The record was released in 1970 in the States by Bill Graham's Fillmore label, and in Europe in 1971 by Atlantic. Excellent (as always with the people at Flawed Gems) sound quality! Highly recommended! -

The album is a solo performance by Hammill from 8 March 1985, during the "The Naked Songs" tour. The artist performed alone, using above all guitar, piano and vocals, thanks to which the material has a very raw and intimate character. The recordings come from the Radio Bremen archive. -

A double-disc recording of a concert held on 3 November 1996 at Union Chapel in Islington, London. It was the first time that four former members of Van der Graaf Generator had played together in front of an audience since the band split in 1978. David Jackson and Hugh Banton were unannounced guests, and all the pieces that evening were played in various line-ups. Only "Lemmings" was performed jointly by Hammill, Evans, Banton and Jackson. -

Yet another sensational title from the rich collection of Japanese progressive rock of the early 70s - unfortunately almost completely unknown outside Japan! Released in 1971 by Capitol, the fourth, last in the career and without doubt the best album by the soft-progressive band with the organist Kunio Kawachi in the line-up. The LP contained a mature, richly arranged and genuinely gripping mixture of psychedelia and early progressive rock, with Kawachi's organ (known, among other things, from the superb LP "Kirikyogen" recorded in 1970 with the future musicians of Flower Travellin' Band) and the guitar of Kimio Mizutani (who from a session musician turned into the "+1" in the band's name) in the leading roles. This gloomy album, devoted to the themes of transience and death, but very elegant and full of class (sung in Japanese), brings to mind the work of early Procol Harum combined with The Zombies (from the "Odessey And Oracle" period). I confess that a few years ago there was a moment when, after buying the vinyl, I listened to this title for 2-3 weeks, and the longer I listened, the less I could tear myself away from it! The 10-minute "Death" (rather poor-sounding...) is in my opinion an absolute masterpiece of psych-progressive rock, though there are really no weak moments on the record. Excellent sound quality! In addition, six rare live recordings from January 1970, in a more soul-and-blues style. A must! (JL) -

One of my quiet favourites! Both albums were released in 1970 by Warner Bros - unfortunately hardly anyone was interested in them. Very subtle, though generally rather dynamic, progressive, guitar-and-organ playing with acoustic interludes. The Brits mixed all sorts of genres: rock, folk, blues and psychedelia and wonderful things came out of it! Melodic compositions, sometimes reaching ten minutes - generally much shorter, though. The band's music brings to mind The Strawbs (with sharp guitar), the Danish Culpeper's Orchard, Jethro Tull, CSN&Y and late The Beatles. Great sound! Digipak edition. A must! (JL) -

A three-disc set containing all the recordings made by the British band, playing progressive rock with elements of folk and blues, which may bring to mind Culpeper's Orchard, Jethro Tull, CSN&Y, as well as late Beatles or The Strawbs. The first two CDs contain the albums from 1970, "Hard Meat" and "Through A Window", both released by Warner Bros. The third disc is taken up by a record made in 1969 for Island Records, but then rejected and never released. Only two tracks released on a single saw the light of day, including a cover of The Beatles' "Rain". The remaining seven appear on "Space Between" for the first time! Unfortunately, in the absence of interest, the band split in 1971. The set comes in a rigid box, with a 20-page booklet inside. A must! (MU)
