Beautiful edition of the superb fifth studio album - the last with Lemmy on bass, who soon afterwards founded Motorhead. Many fans consider this very record the band's best (and most consistent) work. This three-disc (2CD + DVD Audio) box set from the British label Esoteric contains three different mixes and plenty of interesting bonus tracks (both studio and live). In addition an attractive booklet. So far it is the most complete edition of this classic title! Highly recommended. (K) -

A new, limited, European edition of the only, but splendid (double in the vinyl version), album, released in 1971 by CBS, by a British band playing very dynamic, progressive rock with elements of jazz. This is probably the heaviest title from the jazz-rock (jazz-progressive) strand - with plenty of sharp, overdriven guitar parts and an exceptionally strong vocal. This album, still containing a good deal of fiery trumpeting (in the style of very early Chicago), still recalled the work of bands such as Hannibal, Galliard, Aquila and Walrus. This 80-minute CD also contains 2 recordings unreleased on the LP from a rare single from 1972 and 3 previously unreleased tracks (including 2 new compositions) played live on the legendary German programme 'Beat-Club' (1972). A six-disc set containing an anthology of the cult British band. It includes the albums: "Help Yourself" from 1971, "Strange Affair" and "Beware The Shadow" from 1972, "Return Of Ken Whaley", "Happy Days" and "Help Yourself 5" (released only in 2004) from 1973, as well as the solo album by the band's leader Malcolm Morley, "Lost And Found", recorded in 1976 with the accompaniment of the band Plummet Airlines, the master tapes of which were lost and found years later, and then released in 2002. All the recordings have been remastered, and the whole thing comes in a rigid box, with a booklet with previously unpublished photos and interviews and a poster. Highly recommended! (MU) -

HENRY TREE - HENRY TREE - Electric Holy Man - EU Edition - VERY RAREprice: 60,00 PLN / 15,00 EUR
Produced by Bob Shad, 1970's "Electric Holy Man" differed from a lot of other early-1970s Mainstream releases in that it showcased a progressive streak rather than the popsike sound that was common to the label. Moreover, for a trio these guys sported a surprisingly full sound, helped in no small measure by Markish's impressive voice. Not being a big jazz fan, I'll be among the first to admit that I was surprised at how entertaining the group's jazzy forays were. 'Mr. Fear', their Traffic cover and the extended title track showcase that interesting jazzy streak with some stunning work from un-credited jazz guitarist Bill DeArango. Mind you there was still plenty of fuzz driven guitar (check out the second half of the title track), but it didn't come close to these other highlights and the group's most commercial effort; the ballad 'Lady Of Day' was also the album's most disposable offering. -

Excellent, the only record by an Italian band, which came out only in Germany. The interplay of organ and guitar dominates. If I had to make a comparison, perhaps a combination of the more economical Museo Rosenbach with old Genesis? Remastered 2006 edition, with one additional track ("Buzzard" in an acoustic version), in a fold-out sleeve. -

An excellent, only record by an Italian band whose only album was released only in Germany. The interplay of organ and guitar dominates. If I had to make a comparison, perhaps a combination of the more economical Museo Rosenbach with old Genesis? A very good-sounding, though poor in terms of artwork, Progressive Line edition. Highly recommended! -

A three-disc set containing recordings by a British band combining the heaviest guitar sounds of the late 60s with the manic playing of electric violin, with heavy but juicy drumming and finally with the superb, Morrison-like vocals of Tony Hill - a former Misunderstood musician. The violinist Simon House later played in Hawkwind and with David Bowie. The band recorded two superb albums, "Sea Shanties" in 1969 and "High Tide" in 1970, besides which "Complete Liberty Recordings" contains ten tracks from demos and studio recordings from 1969-1970. Everything has been newly remastered from the original master tapes. The whole thing in a rigid box, with a 36-page booklet and a poster inside. A MUST! -

Highdelberg's music combines the psychedelic Guru Guru with the more melodic and orderly rock of Kraan, thanks to which the album is more compact and not as improvised as Guru Guru, but retains the psychedelic atmosphere and experimental character of German rock of the mid-70s. -

A German, progressive band inspired by folk. A beautiful, refined record - violin, flute, Mellotron, and so on. The vocalist sings in her native language, but it is OK. One of my favourite albums from Germany! Highly recommended! A remastered 2021 edition, in a card sleeve. -

Released in an attractive, monochrome sleeve by CBS in November 1972, the LP Holy Mackerel contained a combination of American, folk-rock playing with much heavier, progressive atmospheres in the vein of early Wishbone Ash, Wild Turkey or Hokus Poke - as proven by, for instance, the brilliant, nearly 8-minute Spanish Attraction. For that splendid track alone it is worth having this CD, and that's not all... A certain problem of this, all in all very nice and at times downright great, album was its excessive variety, as it is hard to find two recordings similar to each other. It is worth knowing that this progressive, 'almost hard rock' group was formed by three former musicians of the excellent psychedelic band Jason Crest (1966-1969): vocalist Terry Clark, guitarist Derek Smallcombe and drummer Roger Siggery. In 1971 the excellent and underrated Clark appeared on the only album, made exclusively in the States, by the hard rock band Orang-Utan, while Smallcombe played on the heavy rock LP by the band Samuel Prody, also released in 1971, but only in Germany. Additionally included are a rare single B-side and 9 tracks from the second album, titled 'Closer To Heaven', recorded in 1973 but halted at the last moment (and released only in the 90s). Highly recommended! Condition: NEW , sealed.
