On the second, guests included Chick Corea, John Marshall (Nucleus, later in Soft Machine), and also the cornetist Marc Charig and trombonist Nick Evans, known for their work with King Crimson. Highly recommended! (MU) -

TRIODE - TRIODE - On N'A Pas Fini D'Avoir Tout Vu - EU Ethelion Limited Press - LISTEN - VERY RAREprice: 110,00 PLN / 27,50 EUR
A revelation! A reissue of the excellent, unfortunately only album by a completely unknown band from France. Made in the spring of 1971, the INSTRUMENTAL longplay belongs to my TOP 3 of French progressive rock. It is a musical orgy and heaven for the ears of all lovers of progressive, slightly jazzy and breathy playing with flute in the lead role (but also with electric guitar) à la sophisticated Jethro Tull of the period of the LPs "Stand Up" and "Benefit"! Released almost identically to the original (single, laminated sleeve), the vinyl does not contain even a moment of weakness! A few years ago I could not tear myself away from this music! Gripping playing - the kind we know from some old films from the turn of the 60s and 70s, showing music clubs or action scenes... Please listen to the music links! The vinyl, full of deep tones, sounds superb - just as well as the original from the Futura label worth 500 euros. A MUST! Condition: NEW, sealed. -

TUCKY BUZZARD (see also: End / Fuzzy Duck) - TUCKY BUZZARD - Coming On Again (1971 Spanish Album) - SWE Flawed Gems - LISTEN - VERY RAREprice: 60,00 PLN / 15,00 EUR
On a single CD for the first time! This fantastic and in my opinion without a doubt the best album in the career of this British hard rock formation was recorded at the end of 1970 and released only in Spain, at the beginning of 1971 - just before the LP "Tucky Buzzard" (from May 1971) made by American Capitol. That this is the band's true debut is shown by the fact that Paul Francis drummed only on this album - from spring 1971 already the drummer of the group Fuzzy Duck! In any case, this album, recorded with the (small) help of a symphony orchestra, without a doubt has a more progressive character than the subsequent records; you can hear perfectly that it is 1970, and the music itself is downright sensational! In addition, a rare track from the B-side of a Spanish single released by the band under a changed name is included. A genuine rock classic! A MUST! -

TUCKY BUZZARD (see also: End / Fuzzy Duck) - TUCKY BUZZARD - Tucky Buzzard / Warm Slash - GER Edition - LISTEN - VERY RAREprice: 60,00 PLN / 15,00 EUR
A British band that rose from the ashes of the psychedelic group The End. The LP "Tucky Buzzard" (1970) is excellent, classic hard-rock with organ, in the style of Free, Bloodrock, Fuzzy Duck and a bit of Led Zeppelin - but still with clear influences of psychedelia. The first track even later appeared on a Fuzzy Duck album! The second record (or third, counting the Spanish album from 1971) "Warm Slash" (1971) is typical British hard-rock in the style of Led Zeppelin, Humble Pie, Free and the Rolling Stones of the time. Both albums were produced by Bill Wyman - who appears on the back of the case in the middle of a certain physiological activity... Great sound! Highly recommended! -

UFO - UFO - UFO 2 - Flying - One Hour Space Rock - GER Repertoire Remastered Editionprice: 65,00 PLN / 16,25 EUR
German edition in a traditional jewel case of the fantastic second album in the discography (recorded still with the first guitarist, Mick Bolton). A brilliant album full of bluesy, intense (though played with plenty of room to breathe) heavy rock with a slightly Hendrix-like sound, drenched in a strongly psychedelic, 'cosmic' sauce. "Star Storm" lasts 19 minutes, and the title track "Flying" as much as 26 and a bit! And that is not all - there were three more tracks on the record! A must! (JL) -

UNIVERSE - UNIVERSE - Universe - EU Edition - LISTEN - VERY RAREprice: 110,00 PLN / 27,50 EUR
The only album by this British formation is considered by some to be the rarest progressive title in the history of British rock. Recorded at a small Norwegian studio and released by the local Norwegian label Experience in a run of... 200 copies - it is now practically so rare that it has no price. Stylistically it is very good, professional-sounding, guitar-driven, at moments bluesy rock with organ - somewhat in the vein of Wishbone Ash, Hard Meat and a little Man. In addition 1 track from the simultaneously released, ultra-rare single. The original single sleeve is now a gatefold - with a nice photo of the group placed inside the sleeve. Highly recommended! -

URIAH HEEP - URIAH HEEP - Born In A Trunk - A Collection Of Early BBC Sessions, Album Outtakes And Pre-Uriah Heep Psychedelic Rock Material By SPICE (1968-1971) (2LP) - FRA Verne Limited Press - LISTEN - VERY RAREprice: 170,00 PLN / 42,50 EUR
A superb, limited double-vinyl edition collecting rare or unreleased studio recordings and radio sessions by Uriah Heep from the period of their first three albums (1969-1971)! The 2LP, lasting over 100 minutes, contains, among others, four great tracks from the BBC, in minimally longer or somewhat cleaner versions than on the official CDs. Besides this, four excellent recordings that did not fit on the LP "Salisbury" and finally real rarities: COMPLETELY UNKNOWN radio versions, not previously released on official CDs, somewhat muffled, of three compositions from the LP "Look At Yourself", released only half a year later: "I Wanna Be Free", "Love Machine" and "Shadows Of Grief". Unfortunately the publisher forgot to mention in the note on the back where they come from, so I am informing you that they were recorded for BBC radio on 24 May 1971. Besides this, all eight known recordings by the band Spice (Uriah Heep without Ken Hensley, from 1968-1969) are included: six tracks from an unfinished album from 1969 (including "Born In A Trunk") and both sides of the 1000-euro single "On Love" (1968), from United Artists. With the arrival of Hensley the band changed its name to UH (and the vocalist Garrick changed his surname to Byron) and began to record its real, debut album! The whole thing was released in a very nice, laminated sleeve with several rare photos! It is also a perfect complement to the also double "Crystal Ball - A Collection Of Early Live Performances And Rare Studio Tracks 1971-1974" 2LP - released a few years ago by the sister label Atos Records! AN ABSOLUTE MUST! Condition: MINT, NEW, unsealed. (JL) -

VAN DER GRAAF GENERATOR - VAN DER GRAAF GENERATOR - BBC Sessions 1968-1971 (2LP) - FRA Verne Records Limited Press - LISTEN - VERY RAREprice: 170,00 PLN / 42,50 EUR
Lasting nearly 120 minutes, an excellent, limited double album containing fantastic material recorded by the progressive Brits during several different sessions for BBC radio - live (with minimal overdubs) in the studio, as well as during two performances. This is the earliest Van der Graaf - from the period of the first four, best records. Half the recordings appeared earlier on the LPs "After The Flood" and "Visions" (both released by Verne and now out of print), but 50 minutes had not previously appeared on vinyl (including "Lost" from the October 1970 session, or the 27-minute live excerpt from September 1971 containing, among others, a short cover of "Dambuster March" - importantly - at the correct speed)! It is also worth mentioning that "Killer" from October 1970 is in its full, 8-minute form and sounds miles better than the unfinished version on the official CD box set! All the tracks sound perfect (or close to ideal), except for a few rarities, such as the officially unreleased "Octopus" (from October 1968) and the live "Squid 1/Squid 2" and "Whatever Robert Would Have Said" (both from August 1970) - recorded in an amateur way by fans, from the radio. A must! Condition: MINT, NEW, unsealed. (JL) -

VARIOUS ARTISTS - VARIOUS ARTISTS - British Progressive Rock At The BBC 1968-1971 (2LP) - UK Maida Vale / Verne LIMITED Press - LISTEN - VERY RAREprice: 170,00 PLN / 42,50 EUR
Each of the four thematic parts of 'At The BBC' contains 120 minutes of what I consider superb material recorded live by the individual artists (with only very few overdubs) during several-hour sessions at the Maida Vale studios in London. The BBC employed the best British sound engineers, and as a result almost every band recording there sounded sensational - often better and more dynamic than on their records! Besides, many of them played tracks never released on vinyl or sometimes very surprising covers of other artists' recordings. The sound quality is fantastic - simply perfect! Only in a dozen or so cases (out of nearly 130 recordings) were fragments of slightly poorer, but definitely acceptable, quality used. Note! Almost all the recordings have never before appeared on vinyl, and only a few appeared on CDs, and generally with much poorer sound quality! The vast majority of the tracks came from very rare promotional records intended for foreign radio stations. The tracks on them were enriched with short, emotional introductions by the brilliant DJ Brian Matthew, who genuinely added a special flavour to these recordings! I am a great fan of his! In my opinion the stunning gatefold sleeves, with wonderful late 70s designs by Rodney Matthews, contain every detail about the individual recordings: exact recording dates, apt photographs and the line-ups of all the bands, and even short, one-sentence and really spot-on comments assigned to each track. Believe me - you cannot tear yourself away from these records! Please do not suggest to yourself that they are 'some compilations' or products of inferior quality! Hardly anyone will believe me, but as a great fan (and collector) of recordings from the BBC archives, hand on heart I consider these 4 titles (and especially "Psychedelic Rock" and "British Rock") the best vinyl reissues of the last 10 or 15 years! AN ABSOLUTE MUST!!! NEW, SEALED ........................................ The English text below I received from the publisher. It may be hard to read, but with some concentration it is genuinely very helpful! I especially recommend the short comments! ........................ Limited to 500 copies, double black vinyl edition released in beautiful cover with cool pictures and line ups of ALL bands inside the gatefold. This splendid, 120 minute/25 tracks collection (a real labour of love) not only offers an exeptional and often superior renditions of a tracks familiar through the band's original vinyl output, but also a plenty of cracking performances that they never recorded outside the BBC Maida Vale studios. During the 60s and early 70s the BBC was committed to air a substantial amount of live music within its radio broadcasting and as a result, hundreds of popular or less-known British artists were employed to fill that standards. BBC Transcription Service used some of these sessions for promotional-only albums pressed on a weekly basis (supposedly in a quantity of 100 copies) and destined for radio stations all over the world. It was a vinyl LP with yellow-green record labels, housed in a rather plain, yellow sleeve and filled with paper sheets with song titles, time durations and a running order for the show. Most of the tracks included on this release came from long-running 'Top Of The Pops' compilation series (unconnected to the popular TV show) and short-lived 'Pick Up The Pops For Your D.J.’ LP releases, which took radio performances mostly from the prime pop shows of the time like 'Top Gear', 'Saturday Club', 'Sounds Of The Seveties', that aired live and specifically recorded music. All tracks were also adorned with a fresh commentary from (now legendary) DJ Brian Matthew. Aside from BBC promotional discs, in a very few, fully justified cases an unique, home taped, off-air recordings (expertly remastered and restored and marked below as *) were used. The inner gatefold features a band photos and specific line ups. ALMOST ALL TRACKS PREVIOUSLY UNRELEASED ON VINYL!...... SIDE 1: (29:58) 1. Terry Reid - Writing On The Wall 4.23 (Reid) Recorded on 11th February 1969. This great vocalist has rejected job offers from Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple. 2. Love Affair - She's Not There 3.30 (Argent) Recorded on 13th February 1970. An excellent The Zombies cover with some nice, Jethro Tull-like interplay. SIDE 3: (29:40) 1. Quatermass - Gemini 5.29 (Hammond) Recorded on 14th June 1970. Rare radio version of catchy, hard progressive track from the band's only album. 2. Galliard - A Modern Day Fairy Tale 3.37 (Brown) Recorded on 16th April 1970. Another excellent, jazz/psychedlia-inspired band with plenty of changing moods. 4. If - I'm Reaching Out On All Sides 5.34 (Quincy/Fishman) Recorded on 1st July 1970. A superb prog band with some of the best British jazz musicians turned to rock. 5. Galliard - I Wrapped Her In Ribbons 4.26 (Brown) Recorded on 16th April 1970. Very tuneful and truly exciting brass-rock... ballad with some nice improvisations. SIDE 4: (29:38) 1. Sunburst - Dicky Bird 5.33 (Cross) Recorded on 7th January 1971. A very short-lived band led by great guitarist Keith Cross (ex-T2). Instrumental. 3. Walrus - Who Can I Trust 2.29 (Hawthorn) Recorded on 1st February 1971. Unique radio version of the rapid and powerful first track from a band's only album. 4. Gnidrolog - My Room 6.25 (C. Goldring/S. Goldring/Cowling/Pegrum) Recorded on 13th April 1971. Exclusive, complex and great song never released on any of the band's vinyl LPs. 5. Pete Brown And Piblokto - Aeroplane Head Woman 7.43 (Brown/Mullen) Recorded on 16th August 1971. An unique version of a great, heavy song taped by the very last line up of a band. 6. Fields - A Friend Of Mine 4.22 (Field) Recorded on 23rd December 1971. Great, organ-based trio with stately sound. With Graham Field and Andy McCulloch. -
