The debut album by a British band playing very subtle, though as a rule quite dynamic, progressive, guitar-and-organ tracks with acoustic touches. The Brits mixed all kinds of genres: rock, folk, blues and psychedelia and wonderful things came out of it! Melodic compositions, sometimes reaching ten minutes - as a rule, however, much shorter. The band's music brings to mind The Strawbs (with sharp guitar), the Danish Culpeper's Orchard, Jethro Tull, CSN&Y and late The Beatles. German edition in a gatefold sleeve. A MUST! (JL) -

It is hard to imagine better progressive-blues playing! This is a record for fans of such titles as "Blues From Laurel Canyon", "Tons Of Sobs" and "Barbed Wire Sandwich". An absolute must! -

An excellent album that some years ago I wore out on the turntable for some three weeks! Released on vinyl in Germany and in England - this psychedelic masterpiece was for many years considered a 'moonlighting job' of the Deep Purple musicians (Blackmore, Lord and Paice), but years later it turned out that they were musicians of the German group The German Bonds, who soon afterwards renamed themselves Asterix, Electric Food, Pink Mice and Lucifer's Friend... Also good! This largely instrumental record is based on the interplay of psychedelic organ parts, overdriven guitars, weird sound effects and solid drumming. This superb CD will appeal to, for example, all lovers of Bokaj Retsiem. A must! -

Limited to 500 copies, released in an attractive, laminated sleeve with nice photographs of the band, a black vinyl lasting as much as 50 minutes and sounding great, containing a recording of an excellent, full concert that took place in December 1969, during a short American tour promoting the second album by the British hard-rockers. It was superb, slightly bluesy, decidedly guitar-driven playing (with the young Peter Frampton on lead), a little in the style of early Led Zeppelin and Free! The album contains, among other things, covers unpublished on studio records, such as the 12-minute "Shakin All Over", the 21-minute "I Walk On Glided Splinters", and the eight-minute "For Your Love". The sound quality is perfect, and the pressing loud and clean! A must! Condition: MINT (NEW, unsealed). -

Idle Race was a British soft-psychedelic band led by the young Jeff Lynne, and inspired by The Beatles, The Move (they were close friends with Roy Wood's band) and American bands of the 60s such as Moby Grape and Love. This superb, hour-long CD limited to 500 copies contains radio sessions recorded live by this great but very underrated band at the BBC studios (with a few basic overdubs) in the period from October 1967 to September 1969. The record also contains great covers not released on the band's official albums. Most of the tracks were issued on the very rare BBC Transcription Service discs, released in the late 60s exclusively for promotional purposes. This unbelievably good material is in my opinion much better and better produced than the very good studio albums. And of course every Electric Light Orchestra and The Move fan should have this record! A MUST for all fans of British playing from the late 60s! (JL) -
