A very tastefully released, five-disc box set, containing five albums by this artist endowed with a very pleasant, warm, though "intelligent" voice. The debut (Bedsitter Images from 1967) is a very nice, slightly 'Donovan-like' album full of charming soft-rock melodies, often adorned with plush orchestrations. But the best was still to come! The second in the discography, released two years later, the LP Love Chronicle is already an absolute REVELATION! This fantastic album, unfortunately completely unknown in Poland, was made with the participation of 3 Fairport Convention musicians (under pseudonyms) and with Jimmy Page on electric guitar! It is a folk-psych-rock masterpiece - full of both brilliant melodies and unexpected changes of mood and also not free of early-progressive influences (Hammond organ; an 18-minute, folk suite). Everyone who hears this record is instantly smitten with it - including fans of dense, progressive sweeping... And even despite the fact that it was precisely there that the word "fuck" appeared for the first time in the history of British music (several times...)! Beautiful music! The progressive no. 4 is worth every penny and contains probably the most atmospheric solo in the career of the Led Zep guitarist! The third album was more acoustic than the brilliant predecessor, but still fascinating. The fourth disc contains the artist's most popular album - Year of the Cat (1976) - a great, very melodic and quite ambitious record, which can be described as soft-prog-rock. The fifth disc is Al Stewart's eighth studio album, Time Passages, released in 1978, and at the same time one of his greatest commercial successes. The record combines Stewart's characteristic folk-rock and singer-songwriter narration with a more refined, soft rock-pop production, for which Alan Parsons was responsible. Highly recommended! A MUST! -

A mega rare, first Japanese Polydor release (from 1972) of the fourth and last album by the once very popular Scottish blues-progressive band, at times heavy-playing and improvising a lot, with the excellent Maggie Bell - somewhat reminiscent of Janis Joplin - regarded at the time as the best British female vocalist. Note! The record was partly filled with very stylish guitar parts played by Les Harvey (Alex's brother) - the unfortunate man who was killed by an electric shock on stage during a concert in 1971... Inevitably, on a few tracks on this record he was replaced by the very young Jimmy McCulloch (ex-Thunderclap Newman - later in Paul McCartney's Wings). Additionally a lyric insert. Perfect condition! A compilation of studio recordings by a British heavy rock band from 1970-1971, which for years remained in the archives. It is a great example of a "missing link" between the psychedelia of the late 60s and the emerging heavier rock of the 70s. The guitars are heavy for their time, at moments almost brushing against proto-metal, and at the same time there are extended, lightly progressive structures. For fans of early hard rock and psychedelia it will be a very valuable discovery, bringing to mind early Black Sabbath, Leaf Hound mixed with High Tide and Arzachel and at times early Pink Floyd. -

Another excellent, FIRST-EVER reissue from the Ethelion label - of an album practically forgotten by the world (the cover certainly did not help it, though it was signed by Keef, known from the debut of Black Sabbath and the record by the band Spring...) - until now! Yes, nobody had previously reissued this excellent and very rare title on vinyl. Released at the beginning of 1971 by RCA Victor (and now worth 400-500 euros), the Britons' only, but superb, LP contained heavy, very thoroughbred playing (with slight elements of progression) in the traditional British style, resembling somewhat the debut of Budgie, the records of May Blitz, the debut of Free and Leaf Hound. After a year two of the musicians ended up in the much gentler, though charming Asgard. Very clean, clear sound. A must! Condition: NEW, but unsealed. -

A new, remastered edition of the great, though practically forgotten by the world, only album by a British band. Released at the beginning of 1971 by RCA Victor (and worth 400-500 euros on vinyl today), the Brits' only, but splendid, LP contained heavy, very thoroughbred playing (with light elements of blues and prog rock) in the traditional British style, recalling a little the debut of Budgie, May Blitz records, the debut of Free and Leaf Hound. Devoid of any promotion (and probably a mere, unscrupulous tax write-off for the record label), the record sank without trace on the market - like hundreds of other titles released by major labels at the turn of the 60s and 70s. The band certainly gained no popularity from the dreadful sleeve, which looked as if splattered with mud. It is hard to believe that it was signed by the man known from the debut of Black Sabbath and records by the groups Spring, Indian Summer, Affinity, Colosseum - Keef... After a few months, two Stonehouse musicians formed the gentler and more progressive band Asgard. A MUST! Condition: new, sealed. (JL) -

This only album by a forgotten British group, recorded in 1975, without a doubt belongs, alongside the Refugee LP and the Druid debut, among the 3-4 best progressive records from the British Isles of the mid-70s! Inspired above all by the work of early Genesis, and also Camel, Fruupp and Yes, this very talented band sounded more like 1973 than 1975. Particularly noteworthy are the majestic, extended, epic forms, but also the catchy, slightly Beatles-esque melodies (as well as references to pop music), and the perfect, very rich production. Some passages sound so good that it is hard to believe! No lover of progressive sounds can pass by this CD indifferently! This edition sounds excellent and very spacious. Highly recommended! -

Released in a superb sleeve, a superbly pressed, perfect-sounding, 110-minute double vinyl, containing 90% material from the period of the band's work with Rick Wakeman. The album gathers rare recordings made for the BBC (including a stunning version of the title track "The Battle" from 1968 and a 40-minute concert from 1971, with a brilliant version of "Sheep") and fantastic-sounding live tracks from 1970 from the period of the LP "Just A Collection Of Antiques And Curios". In my opinion Wakeman never played keyboards as well as in Strawbs! Even in Yes! I found it hard to tear myself away from this record! A MUST! Condition: NEW, sealed.
