Released in an attractive, laminated sleeve, a European reissue of one of literally a handful of the best (forgotten) records in the history of British rock! Released in 1970 by Decca, the album contains four fascinating, densely textured tracks full of changes of tempo and mood - characterised by wonderful playing from the whole trio, and especially the guitarist. The LP contains, among others, a 21-minute hard-progressive suite! In addition, two sensational recordings (added at the end of each side) made at the BBC studios have been included - among them the track "C.D.", one of the 10 best heavy rock numbers I have heard in my life! Limited to 500 copies, a beautifully produced (gatefold, laminated sleeve with very rare photos of the band) British black vinyl, containing never-released (on vinyl) radio recordings by one of literally a handful of the best British heavy, progressive rock bands of the turn of the 60s and 70s. On the first side of the record are three sensational tracks (lasting 22 minutes in total) made in October 1970 at the BBC studios and known from the CD editions of the debut album. The track "C.D." is one of the ten best heavy rock numbers I have heard in my life! Side two contains another track from the same session ("Highway") and a live version, recorded at the same time, of "Careful Sam" (both known in somewhat weaker versions from the second album, unreleased at the time), recorded by the BBC crew at the Marquee club in London. These two numbers appeared a few years ago on the compilation LP/CD "Look At The Sun", which contains recordings by various artists from the BBC archives. In my opinion T2's playing on this album is just as good as, if not better than, on their classic LP "It'll All Work Out In Boomland" (1970)! It is hard to find better, thoroughbred heavy rock from that era! An absolute must! -

Very good, previously unreleased material recorded still as a trio, but already in a changed line-up, though with vocalist/drummer/main composer Peter Dunton still on board. What is there to write... T2 is the greatest mystery and the greatest hard-luck case in the history of British rock. Had the brilliant second ('T2' from 1970) and this third album come out in their day, we would be dealing with rock masterpieces! "1971-72" contains nine tracks, of which 6-7 are at the group's typical, very high level, while the remaining 2-3 are a little unpolished (including a decent, acoustic ballad and a nice drum solo with additions), yet they still have class. Despite the fact that it is slightly weaker material than the earlier two killers, it is still the slowly rolling like a steamroller, dark, yet at the same time intriguing with sudden changes of mood T2 with a dreamy vocal - such as we have known and adored for years. The sound quality is like on the previous, archive CD, sometimes minimally better, sometimes a little worse, but without hiss. An absolute MUST!!!!! (JL) -

Remastered 2008 edition, with premiere material from the group's unreleased second record, from the end of 1970! It seemed that nothing was left of the band - and here is such a surprise! In 1998 the British company Essex released a CD with material from the unreleased second record! The content is simply stunning - who knows whether it is not even better than the official album "It'll All Work Out In Boomland" (1970)! All of it is premiere tracks (including the studio version of "CD", known from the bonuses to the debut). The only minor drawback is the minimally weaker sound quality. This is an edition with a changed cover, although the previous artwork appears inside the booklet (and in our photos)! An absolute must! (JL) -

Excellent compilation CD released by a small French label. The driving force of this release is the sensational formation Tapestry - an excellent British progressive group resembling the folk-progressive Trees and a delicate, very early Genesis in one - with female and male vocals. For unknown reasons the group never signed a record contract, but in August 1971 it played a concert at the BBC's London headquarters, a 25-minute excerpt of which was recorded and released in 1971... in 100 copies! I stress: this is fantastic, sophisticated, airy, melodic, progressive playing that should delight every fan of this genre! AN ABSOLUTE Must! The remaining 55 minutes are filled with generally excellent recordings from BBC promotional vinyls (together with the announcements of Brian Matthew, whom I adore) by unknown, or completely forgotten, formations, such as the heavy, psychedelic Griffin (that is, post-Skip Bifferty with a young Alan White on drums), the folk-progressive Ora (here exceptionally with the later rhythm section... of Wishbone Ash), Wommet (that is, pre-Mick Abrahams Band with violin), Blodwyn (that is, the declining Blodwyn Pig without Mick Abrahams but with... Peter Banks of Yes), the excellent, guitar-driven, intense Sweet Marriage (not known from the one single released in Germany - it is on some compilation from the label Wooden Hill) or finally the completely unknown, hard rock Natural Gas (sounding like Leaf Hound or a heavier Humble Pie) and Welfare State - the psychedelic-electronic White Noise collaborating with a theatre group... The whole thing sounds very professional and very clean. This is a truly sensational CD - without a doubt one of the most interesting and, all in all, most surprising reissues of recent years! A MUST! -

A superb, 80-minute double vinyl containing excellent radio material taken from the mega-rare promotional BBC Transcription Service records - issued exclusively for radio stations and absolutely never available in shops! Tempest was formed on the initiative of Colosseum leader Jon Hiseman, bassist Mark Clarke (Colosseum, Uriah Heep), vocalist Paul Williams (ex-Bluesbreakers, Juicy Lucy) and the outstanding guitarist Allan Holdsworth (Igginbottom, Nucleus, and later in Soft Machine and U.K.). The first 54 minutes are a recording of an exquisite concert played as a quintet - with two guitarists: Holdsworth and Ollie Halsall (ex-Patto). As it happened, Halsall, now regarded as one of the best guitarists in rock history, joined the band... a day earlier, hence the guitar attack here is unbelievable! Seriously, there are moments here that are almost impossible to believe! The last 26 minutes are a performance from 1974 - recorded after the release of the second LP - as a trio, though the playing is still very good! ATTENTION! The 1973 material came out a few years ago on the double CD anthology "Under The Blossom", but, with no original BBC vinyl available, Sanctuary used an old bootleg, which was not only muffled but also slowed down! I assure you that the version on this album, limited to 500 copies, simply sounds stunning! The two heavy vinyl records sound perfect - without any surface noise! A MUST!
