Superb, 80-minute unofficial material coming from two BBC Transcription Service vinyl records - released exclusively for radio stations and absolutely unavailable in shops! Tempest was formed on the initiative of Colosseum leader Jon Hiseman, bassist Mark Clarke (Colosseum, Uriah Heep), vocalist Paul Williams (ex-Bluesbreakers, Juicy Lucy) and the excellent guitarist Allan Holdsworth (Igginbottom, Nucleus, and later Soft Machine and U.K.). The first 54 minutes are a recording of an excellent concert recorded as a quintet - with two guitarists: Holdsworth and Ollie Halsall (ex-Patto). It so happened that Halsall, regarded today as one of the best guitarists in the history of rock, joined the group... the day before, hence the guitar attack here is unbelievable! Seriously, there are moments here that are almost impossible to believe! The last 26 minutes are a performance from 1974 - recorded after the release of the second LP - as a trio, though the playing is still very good! ATTENTION! The material from 1973 came out a few years ago on the double CD anthology "Under The Blossom", but in the absence of the original BBC vinyl the label Sanctuary made use of an old bootleg, which was not only dullish, but also slowed down! I assure you that the version on this CD, limited to 500 copies, sounds simply frenzied! A MUST! (JL) -

Remastered British edition, expanded by two tracks, of the second album, recorded with a changed line-up, by the slightly jazzy, heavy-rock supergroup. This time the line-up once again included Jon Hiseman and Mark Clarke (both of Colosseum) and a new acquisition - the excellent guitarist Ollie Halsall, known from Patto among others, who also plays keyboard instruments here. Highly recommended! -

Tempest is a slightly jazzy, heavy rock supergroup with a full, powerful sound. Impressive line-up: drummer Jon Hiseman, bassist Mark Clarke (both from Colosseum), guitarist Allan Holdsworth (ex-Igginbottom, Nucleus) and vocalist Paul Williams (ex-Juicy Lucy and Aynsley Dunbar's Blue Whale). I draw your attention to Holdsworth's excellent guitar parts and Hiseman's dense, as always, drumming! A must! -

This wonderful double vinyl from the label Verne, limited to 500 copies, contains almost all the live bonus tracks that recently appeared on the expanded 2CD editions of "Recorded Live" and 2CD "Positive Vibrations"! This is an alternative "Recorded Live"! Only two compositions are repeated (the whole of side 4). These 100 minutes were recorded at the end of January 1973 at 4 performances during a short tour of Europe. The live RL has always been one of my favourite live albums, and certainly Ten Years After's best album! January 1973 is perhaps a tiny bit better!!! The album contains, among others, two 18-minute Jams, Spoonful, the never released "Time Is Flying", brilliant versions of "Help Me" and "Standing On The Station", and the best existing version of "I'm Going Home"! Wonderful, bluesy, heavyish, at moments progressive, full of improvisation playing with organ, a superb rhythm section and with Alvin Lee's incredible guitar parts! Perfect sound quality (I attach samples below) and a beautiful cover! A MUST! Condition: NEW, sealed. -
