GURU GURU - GURU GURU – Mani und seine Freunde +1 - MIG Music Remastered Card Sleeve Editionprice: 90,00 PLN / 22,50 EUR
Originally an album from 1975, made after the break-up of the then line-up of Guru Guru. Formally it came out under the name Guru Guru, but in practice it was a quasi-solo album by Mani Neumeier with invited musicians. The record is very varied: from jazz-rock associated with Kraan, through ethnic and experimental elements, to Mani's characteristic, somewhat absurd humour. -

HAMMEL, PAVOL (see also: Prudy) - PAVOL HAMMEL A SKUPINA PRUDY - Hrać - Opus Pressprice: 110,00 PLN / 27,50 EUR
Recorded in 1974 and released already in 1975 in a gatefold sleeve, the LP Hráč was Hammel's last album recorded officially with Prúdy (already with the new drummer Pavol Kozma). Unfortunately, the musical climate was changing and ambitious, progressive playing was slowly going out of fashion. Probably after the moderate success of the previous album the artist... mellowed, and although the perfectly produced material he proposed could still be counted as rock in style, the record was half filled with gentle, refined pop-folk-rock ballads - sometimes in an American style and at times even in the aesthetic of our Marek Grechuta (without the group Anawa), although as a great fan of the work of the author of Korowód, I am aware of the weight of this comparison... The first side opened very promisingly with the title track Hráč, characterised by a slightly broken rhythm (with a bass drum fantastically filling the space) and sung with verve - a fantastically produced, slow track based on the interplay of organ, piano, acoustic guitar, flute and backing vocals in the style of Uriah Heep! The next, also rock, track was the folk-progressive, swaying Hotel Sen - a very nice, acoustic-electric piece with an accompanying flute part and a somewhat trivial chorus. The following, folky Zimuška (acoustic guitars, piano, swaying rhythm, male backing vocals) was in a somewhat American style. Referencing a little the style of Crosby, Stills & Nash, at times sung in an almost shrill voice, the again ballad-folky Starý Porcelán was recorded with the help of percussion instruments, piano and acoustic guitars and halfway through gained some power thanks to a nice electric guitar solo. In a fairly similar, though somewhat more pop style came the catchy Ty Si Tá, while by contrast Bláznove Byty began with intriguing wah-wah guitar sounds, but in the blink of an eye turned into a charming ballad a bit in the style of Cat Stevens, built on the sound of piano, strings, occasional backing vocals and a delicate rhythm section. The first side was closed by Svitanie - a cheerful, melodic rock ballad played in a fairly lively rhythm in the vein of George Harrison. Unfortunately, the second side was opened by the hit oompah, that is the tango style combined with the music of the 50s, megapopular Učiteľka Tanca - a song that literally almost everyone who grew up in the 70s knows, but has no idea who performed it. Well... Pavol Hammel! Worse still, the next piece was the strongly swaying Blší Trh, recalling a little the recordings of the group Mungo Jerry; fortunately Hammel scored strongly with V Každom Počasí - a very delicate, elegantly arranged (piano, strings and again Uriah-like backing vocals) track recalling a little some of the work of our Marek Grechuta! The mood changed again in Láskavo - all in all a nice, jazzy boogie, played with great class and excellently arranged. This is one of those pieces that perhaps do not convince from the musical side, but whose interpretation drops your jaw... The next track in which I would look for an echo of Grechuta's style was Chuť Prvých Strát - an impressive, boldly arranged (dense, swaying drums, violin, Hammond organ), though somewhat overlong, piece. The record was closed by Mladosť, sung in a gentle voice accompanied only by acoustic guitar and piano. All in all it is a very pleasant record - gaining a great deal with each repeat listen. The album is a solo performance by Hammill from 8 March 1985, during the "The Naked Songs" tour. The artist performed alone, using above all guitar, piano and vocals, thanks to which the material has a very raw and intimate character. The recordings come from the Radio Bremen archive. -

HAMMILL, PETER (see also: Van der Graaf Generator) - PETER HAMMILL & THE K GROUP – Live At Rockpalast – Hamburg 1981 (2CD+DVD) - MIG Remastered Editionprice: 130,00 PLN / 32,50 EUR
Peter Hammill in one of the most important line-ups of his solo career - with John Ellis, Nic Potter and Guy Evans creating an extremely strong, progressive sound, where Hammill's characteristic expression meets the precise playing of the band, and the presence of the full DVD recording decidedly raises the value of this release. -

HEADSTONE (US) - HEADSTONE - Still Looking +4 - EU Once Again Expanded Limited Edition - VERY RARE - LISTENprice: 55,00 PLN / 13,75 EUR
A forgotten, hard-progressive rock classic from the USA! Released in 1974 in a small run at the band's own expense, the album is known and valued among die-hard fans of old rock, but it is worth stressing that the quality of the music goes hand in hand with the legend. Worth around 300 euros in the original, the album is generally filled with intense, guitar-and-organ playing in the style of a less commercial-sounding and slightly unpolished (as is the case with so-called private pressings) Deep Purple from 1972, although perhaps better reference points would be bands such as Dionysos, Bull Angus or Felt. The opening 8-and-a-half-minute title track is worth every penny to a collector of progressive rock records, because you can't tear yourself away from it and I think more than one rock star would give a lot to have composed it!! The rest of the recordings also 'deliver' and it's really worth investing in this title! Additionally included are four nice recordings from two singles from 1974-1975. Highly recommended! Condition: New, sealed. (JL) -

HEAVEN - HEAVEN - Brass Rock 1 +5 - EU Prog Gems Limited Edition - LISTEN - VERY RAREprice: 55,00 PLN / 13,75 EUR
A new, limited, European edition of the only, but splendid (double in the vinyl version), album, released in 1971 by CBS, by a British band playing very dynamic, progressive rock with elements of jazz. This is probably the heaviest title from the jazz-rock (jazz-progressive) strand - with plenty of sharp, overdriven guitar parts and an exceptionally strong vocal. This album, still containing a good deal of fiery trumpeting (in the style of very early Chicago), still recalled the work of bands such as Hannibal, Galliard, Aquila and Walrus. This 80-minute CD also contains 2 recordings unreleased on the LP from a rare single from 1972 and 3 previously unreleased tracks (including 2 new compositions) played live on the legendary German programme 'Beat-Club' (1972). A must! (JL) Condition: New, sealed. -

A three-disc set containing the first albums by a hard-glam-rock, slightly bluesy band echoing the style of The Rolling Stones, Humble Pie and early AC/DC. The whole thing comes in a rigid box, with a 32-page booklet containing a conversation between the "Classic Rock" journalist Dave Ling and the surviving members of the band and lots of previously unpublished photographs. HIGHDELBERG (see also: Guru Guru / Kraan) - HIGHDELBERG – Highdelberg - MIG Digipak Remastered Editionprice: 90,00 PLN / 22,50 EUR
Highdelberg's music combines the psychedelic Guru Guru with the more melodic and orderly rock of Kraan, thanks to which the album is more compact and not as improvised as Guru Guru, but retains the psychedelic atmosphere and experimental character of German rock of the mid-70s. -

HIGHWAY ROBBERY (see also: Atlee) - HIGHWAY ROBBERY - For Love Or Money - EU Once Again Limited Edition - VERY RARE - LISTENprice: 55,00 PLN / 13,75 EUR
Released in the States in 1972 by RCA Victor, the only album by this hard rock band is an energetic masterpiece of early hard rock with distinct touches of psychedelia and blues - something in the vein of Led Zeppelin, Uriah Heep, Bang, Dust and Captain Beyond. This is genuinely heavy and dynamic playing based on strong riffs, thick bass, dynamic drum work and a fairly decisive vocal, and it will delight every fan of heavy rock from the early 70s! This is the best-sounding and best-looking version of this CD, and I compared it with two earlier editions! A must! Condition: NEW, sealed. -
CD
HOLDEN, RANDY (see also: Blue Cheer / Other Half) - RANDY HOLDEN - Population II +8 - AUS Progressive Line Expanded Edition - LISTEN - VERY RAREprice: 60,00 PLN / 15,00 EUR
ATTENTION! This is one of the best guitar albums of all time! An excellent, very heavy debut LP released in early 1970, recorded by the former guitarist of Other Half and Blue Cheer (from the brilliant second side of the LP "New! Improved!" - the best in the career of the creators of "Vincebus Eruptum"), and probably the heaviest and most intense guitar killer of the late 60s! The record was made as a duo (Holden - guitar, bass and vocals, and the former drummer of the band Kak, Chris Lockheed - drums). Some consider this album a prototype of doom metal (even before Black Sabbath) and stoner rock and pay 0-1000 for the original, mega-rare, original vinyl! Holden's story is very sad... In 1969 the guitarist got mercilessly into debt and bought incredibly powerful Sunn amplifiers - visible on the back cover of the vinyl. Then he fell out with the label, which was meddling in his music, and the entire pressed run of the album... stayed in warehouses and never reached the shops! At the same time (1970) Holden's manager, behind his back... sold all his equipment and took the money! Stripped of everything, tied to a contract and banned from performing, in debt, Randy slipped away from California to Central America and for many years made a living catching marlin (like a fisherman in Hemingway). He recorded nothing for the next 25 years... That is how the career of one of the most talented rock guitarists of all time turned out! I assure you that fans of intense guitar improvisations and heavy riffs in the Hendrix/Black Sabbath style will be delighted! This is the 2001 edition with an additional eight tracks from the nice album "Guitar God", recorded in 1996. A MUST! -
CD
HOLY MACKEREL (UK) (see also: Jason Crest / Orang-Utan) - HOLY MACKEREL - Holy Mackerel +10 - EU Once Again Limited Edition - VERY RARE - LISTENprice: 55,00 PLN / 13,75 EUR
Released in an attractive, monochrome sleeve by CBS in November 1972, the LP Holy Mackerel contained a combination of American, folk-rock playing with much heavier, progressive atmospheres in the vein of early Wishbone Ash, Wild Turkey or Hokus Poke - as proven by, for instance, the brilliant, nearly 8-minute Spanish Attraction. For that splendid track alone it is worth having this CD, and that's not all... A certain problem of this, all in all very nice and at times downright great, album was its excessive variety, as it is hard to find two recordings similar to each other. It is worth knowing that this progressive, 'almost hard rock' group was formed by three former musicians of the excellent psychedelic band Jason Crest (1966-1969): vocalist Terry Clark, guitarist Derek Smallcombe and drummer Roger Siggery. In 1971 the excellent and underrated Clark appeared on the only album, made exclusively in the States, by the hard rock band Orang-Utan, while Smallcombe played on the heavy rock LP by the band Samuel Prody, also released in 1971, but only in Germany. Additionally included are a rare single B-side and 9 tracks from the second album, titled 'Closer To Heaven', recorded in 1973 but halted at the last moment (and released only in the 90s). Highly recommended! Condition: NEW , sealed. -
LP
HONEYBUS - HONEYBUS - BBC Sessions 1967-1970 - FRA Verne Limited Press - LISTEN - VERY RAREprice: 110,00 PLN / 27,50 EUR
A French black vinyl limited to 500 copies, lasting over 50 minutes, released in a beautiful, psychedelic, laminated sleeve, that is, the edition, awaited for many years, of the radio sessions (from 1967-1970) of an underrated British band, known above all for the big hit "I Can't Let Maggie Go" (1968), but also for charming, pop-baroque-rock tracks very close to the style of the late, McCartney-like The Beatles, The Zombies and Badfinger. This is a wonderful album, containing many compositions (including covers of recordings by other artists) not included on any of the band's official records (or singles)! ATTENTION! Unfortunately, exceptionally, I found nothing from the BBC archives on YouTube in very good quality (apart from versions recorded 50 years ago with a microphone from the radio), so the music files attached below contain the record/single versions. At the same time I assure you that the whole vinyl (pressed from remastered, unique, promotional BBC Transcription Service discs) sounds ideal! Condition: MINT, NEW, unsealed. (JL) -
CD
HUMAN BEAST - HUMAN BEAST - Volume One - EU Magic Potion Limited Edition - LISTEN - VERY RAREprice: 55,00 PLN / 13,75 EUR
A new, limited, European edition of the only, very dark album by a Scottish, forgotten heavy rock trio, drawing on the psychedelic tradition. Released in a tasteful sleeve by Decca Records in August 1970, the LP, optimistically named "Volume One", was an exceptional and original work, containing seven compositions combining the style of Cream, Hendrix, Black Sabbath and perhaps early East Of Eden. Decidedly the greater part of the record, lasting only 34 minutes, was filled with very dynamic, partly instrumental tracks full of numerous changes, based on a countless number of Sabbath-like riffs and swaying guitar parts, the powerful sound of pulsating bass, fanciful, free but dense drumming and dark, amazing vocals. In a somewhat different, psychedelic style were the compositions characterised by an overdriven guitar sound flowing like magma, inspired by the music of the East, at times based on the interplay of acoustic and electric guitars. It is worth knowing that "Maybe Someday" in its original, raw version appeared on the debut record of The Incredible String Band. In my opinion this wonderful album is among the greatest achievements of the British rock underground! The original long-player in the British version is very sought after and is worth... 3000 euros! An absolute must! (JL) -
CD
HURDY GURDY - HURDY GURDY - Hurdy Gurdy +5 - EU Once Again Expanded Limited Edition - LISTEN - VERY RAREprice: 55,00 PLN / 13,75 EUR
Recorded in 1971, but released at the beginning of 1972 by British CBS, the only album by an excellent band from Denmark playing heavy, progressive rock in the European style. This is an absolute masterpiece of the genre started by Cream and continued by Led Zeppelin, Free, Taste and the Swedish November. The English-sung record was dominated by a somewhat sleepy, psychedelic, yet at the same time heavy and clear sound with plenty of concise improvisations. There is no lack of a good pinch of blues and even sitar psychedelia - simply a very professional, thrilling and almost perfect record! Additionally 3 very good recordings from the recording session for the album are included, as well as 2 tracks from the ultra-rare single on the Spectator label (with the sleeve reproduced in the booklet) from 1970. NOTE! This CD contains the original, correct, vinyl mix from 1972 and not the remixed, partly cut material (additionally supplemented with a distinct reverb) once released by Karma Music. The only fragment from the remix is the final 2 minutes of the 10-minute-long track 'Lost In The Jungle', which are included. A MUST! Condition: New, sealed. (JL) -

A great band from Denmark. Its only album was once released in England by CBS. Heavy, though clear, somewhat psychedelic sound, a bit of blues, plenty of improvisation - simply a very professional, great record. 2024 edition, with three bonus tracks from the album's recording session. Gatefold sleeve, sealed. Highly recommended! (JL) -

IRON MAIDEN - IRON MAIDEN - Live At Hammersmith Odeon, London, May 1983 2CD - Full Concert - EU Sweet Leaf Limited Edition - VERY RARE - LISTENprice: 80,00 PLN / 20,00 EUR
A tastefully released, limited, European double CD containing a 115-minute performance (recorded from the audience, but in really very good sound quality) that took place in the temple of metal of the day, that is London's Hammersmith Odeon in May 1983, during the tour promoting the just-released, fourth LP in the band's discography, 'Piece Of Mind'. A big plus of this concert is the splendid, truly unique set of tracks, including 'Piece Of Mind' played almost in its entirety! The cover features a classic design by Derek Riggs - the band's then house cover artist - borrowed from the front of the official 1983 tour programme! Once again: the sound quality is almost great (a little muffled but beating hands down the recordings available now) and all the instruments and the vocal can be heard very well! Besides, there DOES NOT EXIST a better recording of a full concert by the band from that tour! It is certainly a huge treat for fans of old Maiden and the NWOBHM! A MUST! Condition: New, sealed. (JL) -

IRON MAIDEN - IRON MAIDEN - Live In Nijmegen, Netherlands, April 1981 - Full Concert - EU Sweet Leaf Limited Edition - VERY RARE - LISTENprice: 55,00 PLN / 13,75 EUR
A tastefully released, limited, European CD containing a 78-minute recording of a radio-broadcast performance that took place in Nijmegen, the Netherlands, in April 1981, during the tour promoting the band's second LP 'Killers'. Until now this performance had been available in a cut, 48-minute version, but recently the complete radio broadcast was found! NOTE! The cover features an unpublished 1981 design by Derek Riggs - the band's then house cover artist! The sound quality is almost perfect - even better, fuller-sounding (more treble) than on the YouTube version! It is certainly a huge treat for fans of old Maiden and the NWOBHM! A MUST! Condition: New, sealed. (JL) -
