Released in France in an edition of 500 copies, a limited, collectors' double live album lasting nearly 120 minutes containing classic material with great sound quality, recorded between August 1985 and February 1986 - on the legendary tour promoting the LP "Hell Awaits". Made up of sizeable excerpts from several concerts (mainly from the Country Club in Reseda in Los Angeles from August 1985), it contains literally ALL the compositions played during that tour! Remastered 2022 edition, to which a second CD has been added, containing a recording of a concert on 11 October 1975 at Nottingham University, remastered from the original master tapes, previously released under the title "British Tour '75". Unfortunately Holdsworth was no longer in the band then, having left for the New Tony Williams Lifetime, and he recommended John Etheridge, who had previously played in Icarus and Darryl Way's Wolf, in his place. A new, limited, European edition of this fantastic album! Steel Mill is an English band which in December 1971 recorded one of the most charming and at the same time intense records in the history of British progressive rock - originally released in Germany in spring 1972 (in a black sleeve by Bellaphon/Penny Farthing), and only in 1975 in Britain (in a sleeve with a green background). Real rock underground, that is "everything thrown together". Elements of heavy rock, jazz, folk and blues cross in dynamic instrumental parts. The album is a veritable model example of how a group unknown to anybody can make an album no worse than those we have loved for several decades! Steel Mill's music has accompanied me almost forever and still 'gets me going'! The band struck an almost ideal balance between folk-jazz-rock (saxophone, flute) and heavy guitar playing based on catchy riffs. Full of verve, yet at the same time ephemeral, the music never bores, above all thanks to its catchy melodies and very skilful handling of mood. The record was released in a unique, gatefold sleeve, and additionally 2 tracks from the singles released alongside the record are included. An absolute must! Condition: NEW (JL) -

A compilation of studio recordings by a British heavy rock band from 1970-1971, which for years remained in the archives. It is a great example of a "missing link" between the psychedelia of the late 60s and the emerging heavier rock of the 70s. The guitars are heavy for their time, at moments almost brushing against proto-metal, and at the same time there are extended, lightly progressive structures. For fans of early hard rock and psychedelia it will be a very valuable discovery, bringing to mind early Black Sabbath, Leaf Hound mixed with High Tide and Arzachel and at times early Pink Floyd. -

A new, remastered edition of the great, though practically forgotten by the world, only album by a British band. Released at the beginning of 1971 by RCA Victor (and worth 400-500 euros on vinyl today), the Brits' only, but splendid, LP contained heavy, very thoroughbred playing (with light elements of blues and prog rock) in the traditional British style, recalling a little the debut of Budgie, May Blitz records, the debut of Free and Leaf Hound. Devoid of any promotion (and probably a mere, unscrupulous tax write-off for the record label), the record sank without trace on the market - like hundreds of other titles released by major labels at the turn of the 60s and 70s. The band certainly gained no popularity from the dreadful sleeve, which looked as if splattered with mud. It is hard to believe that it was signed by the man known from the debut of Black Sabbath and records by the groups Spring, Indian Summer, Affinity, Colosseum - Keef... After a few months, two Stonehouse musicians formed the gentler and more progressive band Asgard. A MUST! Condition: new, sealed. (JL) -

Released in 1972 by the German branch of Epic, the only, but splendid, album, containing thrillingly performed, richly arranged progressive music typical of Germany, based on the interplay of organ, electric and acoustic guitars, flute, saxophone, recalling a combination of the style of, among others, Jane, Out Of Focus and Murphy Blend. The band drew on various sources; sometimes it sounded almost hard rock, at other times it approached the style of jazz-rock, or showed a fascination with the work of Pink Floyd and Jethro Tull. Generally the record should delight all fans of good old, juicy playing. The CD contains over 30 minutes of excellent, rare material (different, much better than the two live tracks on the old and worse-sounding Ohrwashl edition), recorded in the studio and live in 1971-1972. In 1973 the group changed its name to Sahara and released the great 'Sunrise' (1974). A MUST! Condition: New, sealed. (JL) -

A superb record from South Africa, legendary among collectors. The album contained (with one exception) only covers of more or less well-known tracks from the hard and prog rock area - all performed with great dynamism and fire. Believe me that some recordings turned out better than the originals (e.g. two Grand Funk compositions or Colosseum's "Elegy"), and whose version of "War Pigs" (this is a bonus track from a rare, South African compilation from 1971!) is better - please judge for yourself... The original vinyl (released by Parlophone) in very good condition costs nearly 2000 euros! 2024 edition, in a gatefold, matt sleeve, sealed. A must! (JL) -

A great-sounding and attractive-looking reissue of the only, but splendid, album by an Icelandic band, recorded in 1972 in London and originally released privately by the band. The Svanfridur musicians played ambitious and very atmospheric, classic progressive rock, with distinct influences of psychedelia, folk, jazz and heavy sounds. The quartet's music can be roughly described as a combination of the style of Jethro Tull (with far less flute), Wishbone Ash, Gnidrolog, Curved Air and East Of Eden. It was decidedly British playing, but with a large dose of Scandinavian gloom and melancholy - very sophisticated, a bit hard to take in at once, but in its own way orderly and ear-catching. Almost every fan of good old rock should be delighted with this record! Currently the first edition in perfect condition is worth 1000 euros! A MUST! Condition: New, sealed. (JL) -

A German reissue of one of literally a handful of the best (forgotten) records in the history of British rock! The album, once released by Decca, contains four fascinating, densely textured tracks full of changes of tempo and mood - characterised by wonderful playing from the whole trio, and especially the guitarist. The CD includes, among others, a 21-minute hard-progressive suite! In addition, three sensational recordings (lasting 22 minutes in total) made at the BBC studios - in my opinion perhaps even better than the fantastic album! The track "C.D.", meanwhile, is one of the ten best heavy rock numbers I have heard in my life! This is the old German edition from the early 90s (with rather poor and not very clear artwork, but with great sound) once prepared by the Berlin label SPM in cooperation with the band's leader Pete Dunton. An absolute must! -

The second part of the CD is a session from 1967 recorded still in Ireland (released by Decca in 1974 as "Rory Gallagher - In The Beginning"). A must! -

Superb, 80-minute unofficial material coming from two BBC Transcription Service vinyl records - released exclusively for radio stations and absolutely unavailable in shops! Tempest was formed on the initiative of Colosseum leader Jon Hiseman, bassist Mark Clarke (Colosseum, Uriah Heep), vocalist Paul Williams (ex-Bluesbreakers, Juicy Lucy) and the excellent guitarist Allan Holdsworth (Igginbottom, Nucleus, and later Soft Machine and U.K.). The first 54 minutes are a recording of an excellent concert recorded as a quintet - with two guitarists: Holdsworth and Ollie Halsall (ex-Patto). It so happened that Halsall, regarded today as one of the best guitarists in the history of rock, joined the group... the day before, hence the guitar attack here is unbelievable! Seriously, there are moments here that are almost impossible to believe! The last 26 minutes are a performance from 1974 - recorded after the release of the second LP - as a trio, though the playing is still very good! ATTENTION! The material from 1973 came out a few years ago on the double CD anthology "Under The Blossom", but in the absence of the original BBC vinyl the label Sanctuary made use of an old bootleg, which was not only dullish, but also slowed down! I assure you that the version on this CD, limited to 500 copies, sounds simply frenzied! A MUST! (JL) -

Fairly long, 6-8 minute tracks with intelligent arrangements, reminiscent of the most interesting recordings of the brilliant British band If, as well as Hannibal (from the UK) and the popular Danish group Midnight Sun. The record was dominated by attractive saxophone and flute parts, at times quite heavy, intense guitar parts, and also the then obligatory Hammond organ sounds. Attention was drawn to the very catchy compositions, excellent, breathy production and spacious sound. An almost perfect record! The original Danish vinyl in perfect condition sells for 1200 euros! AN ABSOLUTE MUST! Condition: NEW, SEALED. -
