RAW MATERIAL - RAW MATERIAL - Time Is +1 - EU Prog Gems Limited Edition - LISTEN - VERY RAREprice: 55,00 PLN / 13,75 EUR
A new, LIMITED edition with a bonus track. Originally released in 1971 by RCA Neon, Raw Material's second album is one of the most wonderful (little-known) progressive titles recorded in Britain! Long, complex compositions, melodies that get 'into the ear' straight away, clear arrangements and a full, rock sound. Guitars, saxophone, flute, mellotron, organ... The whole thing resembled the recordings of very early Genesis and Van Der Graaf Generator - with a pinch of Jethro Tull and King Crimson. This is an absolutely ESSENTIAL item for every lover of progressive sounds from the turn of the 60s and 70s! Additionally the cover of Free's 'Ride On Pony' from 1971, released only on a single and never reissued before! A MUST! (JL) -

RUFUS ZUPHALL - RUFUS ZUPHALL - Phallobst +5 - EU Prog Gems Expanded Limited Edition - VERY RARE - LISTENprice: 55,00 PLN / 13,75 EUR
Another, somewhat forgotten, krautrock gem! After the self-financed release in January 1971 of the strongly Jethro Tull-like debut album 'Weiss Der Teufel' the band was snapped up by the progressive-folk label Pilz and in the same year the splendid Phallobst reached the shops. The record combined, in a striking way, classic, at times heavyish progressive rock with elements of folk, blues and psychedelia, and its sound, as on the debut, relied among other things on the characteristic flute, restrained but charming vocal parts and of course on extended instrumental parts. So, not far from what the Jethro Tull musicians offered on their 'Benefit' and 'Aqualung'! The German band did not waste its time in the studio - the 'second one' sounded more professional than the (in its own way splendid, raw-sounding) debut; moreover the musicians did not shy away from experiments with sound or striking changes (speeding-ups) of tempo. Of course this is not music that grabs you the first time, but it is very rewarding after several listens! Additionally 5 demo recordings from 1972 are included, intended for the third album 'Avalon And On', unreleased at the time. Without doubt this is the best-sounding CD version! A MUST! Condition: New, sealed. (JL) -

RUFUS ZUPHALL - RUFUS ZUPHALL - Weiss der Teufel +3 - EU Prog Gems Expanded Limited Edition - VERY RARE - LISTENprice: 55,00 PLN / 13,75 EUR
A revelation! The debut, truly exquisite album by a German progressive band, released in January 1971, strongly reminiscent of early Jethro Tull recordings, but served more raw and in a slightly psychedelic style. Clear melodies, plenty of flute, dense drums, overdriven guitar. The band released the record at its own expense in a run of 500 copies, and original vinyls in the rarely seen, great condition are worth over 1000 euros! Additionally included are two tracks from 1970 which did not fit on the original LP and an early version of a track that appeared on the second album, "Phallobst" (1971). In my opinion it is one of the best ten titles from the circle of German prog rock! Without doubt this is the best-sounding CD version! A MUST! Condition: New, sealed. (JL) -

SAHARA (see also: Subject Esq. / Out Of Focus / Gift) - SAHARA - Sunrise +2 - EU Prog Gems Limited Edition - LISTEN - VERY RAREprice: 55,00 PLN / 13,75 EUR
This is simply the band Subject Esq. under a name changed in mid-1973 and with two new musicians: the former Out Of Focus organist and the guitarist from the debut of the group Gift! Released in March 1974, Sahara's debut album is classic, richly arranged German progressive rock - inevitably stylistically close to Subject Esq. but also to Eloy, King Crimson, Jethro Tull, Yes and Deep Purple (in the middle of the suite a fragment of 'Concerto' is even quoted). There are only 4 compositions on the record, including the aforementioned, eclectic, 27-minute suite! Fans of German progressive playing will be delighted! Additionally 2 excellent-sounding live recordings from August 1973, lasting 14 and 11 minutes respectively, are included. NOTE! The CD begins with the sound of a turntable needle dropping onto vinyl and only after a moment does a fragment of classical music appear and after a few seconds a rock band suddenly comes in... Why am I writing about this? Well, this not very fortunate fragment with the needle did not appear on the earlier CD edition of 'Sunrise' (probably because the label feared being suspected of sloppiness during mastering), so please do not make a complaint on this account, because for the first time the record is presented in its entirety! :-) A MUST! Condition: NEW, sealed. (JL) -
LP
SAMURAI (UK) (see also: Web / Greenslade) - SAMURAI - Live In Sweden 1971 - FRA Verne Limited Press - LISTEN - VERY RAREprice: 110,00 PLN / 27,50 EUR
A limited, black vinyl from the French label Verne, containing a full recording of a unique, excellent, 35-minute performance by the British progressive band, broadcast by Swedish radio in the spring of 1971. The band Samurai, known from its only album (released under its new, changed name), was then still performing under the name Web - associated with the LP "I Spider", released at the end of 1970 and harking back to the work of King Crimson and Colosseum. As it happened, however, just before the concert tour the saxophonist left the band, so both the compositions from the album "Samurai" (1971) and from 'I Spider' were presented in Sweden in somewhat different, more guitar-and-organ, rock arrangements! Perfect pressing and very clean sound. A must! Condition: NEW, unsealed. (JL) -

SATIN WHALE - SATIN WHALE - Desert Places - FRA Lumpy Gravy Remastered Edition - LISTEN - VERY RAREprice: 60,00 PLN / 15,00 EUR
Superb debut album, released in 1974 by Brain Metronome (and sounding like 1972), by a German formation playing invigorating, energetic and fairly melodic/catchy progressive rock (lots of Hammonds, lots of flute, electric guitars, strong, dense drums) in the vein of the best moments of Jane, Eloy, Out Of Focus, Nektar and Twenty Sixty Six And Then - with a pinch of Jethro Tull (flute). Every track is great - there really is no filler and none of the later art rock whining. To tell the truth, as far as more commercial, heavier krautrock goes, it is an exemplary record and is recommended to all lovers of old rock! Excellent sound! A MUST! -
CD
SATIN WHALE - SATIN WHALE - Studio Albums 1974-1981 (5CD) - GER MIG Edition - LISTENprice: 200,00 PLN / 50,00 EUR
A five-disc CD box containing five studio albums by a great, progressive German band. The first two titles are excellent! NOTE FROM THE PUBLISHER: Desert Places (1974, Brain) The debut and at the same time the band's most highly regarded album. Long compositions, a lot of flute, saxophone and organ, an atmosphere close to early Camel or Eloy. Lost Mankind (1975, Nova) Somewhat more jazz-rock and technical than the debut, but still strongly progressive. Includes, among others, "Go Ahead" and "Beyond The Horizon". As a Keepsake (1977, Nova) A somewhat more accessible album, but still kept in a progressive spirit. One of the favourite records of many of the band's fans. A Whale of a Time (1978, Strand) An even bigger turn towards melodic rock and AOR. Conny Plank was among those responsible for production and mixing. Don't Stop the Show (1981, Polydor) The last studio album. The sound is now almost entirely rooted in the realities of the early 80s, with few of the former progressive elements. -

LP
SCORPIONS - SCORPIONS - Live In Essen, April 1975 - FRA Verne Limited Press - LISTEN - VERY RAREprice: 110,00 PLN / 27,50 EUR
An excellent, limited, 52-minute black vinyl released in a beautiful, laminated sleeve with early, nice (but sometimes also cheesy...) photos of the band. This superb album was recorded by the German radio station WDR during the April 1975 concert tour promoting the second, progressive LP in their discography, "Fly To The Rainbow" - of course with the Hendrix-loving guitarist Uli Roth! By some miracle the radio broadcast was professionally recorded by a fan of the band and hence this album! This material was available for years on CDs (and on YouTube) in dreadful quality! This is a different, almost perfect source! The long-player contains, among others, five tracks from the 'second album', unique covers of Hendrix's "Red House" and "Rock & Roll Queen" from the Mott The Hoople repertoire, as well as "Long Tall Sally" and a short, instrumental jam. An absolute must! Condition: MINT (NEW, unsealed). (JL) -

CD
SHINN, DON - DON SHINN - Takes A Trip +1 - SWE Flawed Gems Edition - LISTEN - VERY RAREprice: 60,00 PLN / 15,00 EUR
An absolute sensation! CD debut of the brilliant first album (released in March 1969 by British EMI Columbia under the title "Temples With Prophets", and in France in a psychedelic sleeve as "Don Shinn Takes A Trip") by organist Don Shinn, who together with his band recorded a completely instrumental masterpiece, a somewhat more mature version of the early The Nice and Brian Auger's Trinity, with more than a pinch of Edvard Grieg and... Arzachel! Keith Emerson was a great fan of Shinn and it was precisely under his influence that he formed The Nice! This is top-shelf playing and, to tell the truth, it is frightening that until some time ago (up until the release of the great compilation CD "Maximum Prog", with the track "A Minor Explosion" opening it) I had no idea this artist existed! This is an absolutely obligatory item for all fans of psych-prog-jazz-rock (or whatever you want to call it...) with organ. Perfect sound quality. Plus a fantastic single track from 1966, which is also the answer to which band recorded the first progressive (small) record! A MUST! (JL) -
CD
SKYCLAD - SKYCLAD - Prince of the Poverty Line + 3 - Deluxe Expanded Editionprice: 70,00 PLN / 17,50 EUR
This is one of Skyclad's most important albums and is often considered their peak period. Prince of the Poverty Line is a concept album about the social and economic decline of Britain after the Thatcher era. Musically it is a great example of early folk metal – heavy, at times thrashy guitars are combined with violin and folk melodies. A remaster + 3 bonus tracks, digipak and a 12-page booklet. -
LP
SLADE - SLADE – Live At The New Victoria (2LP) - BMG Pressprice: 200,00 PLN / 50,00 EUR
The full recording of a concert from the tour promoting the film "Slade in Flame" and its soundtrack, which took place on 26 April 1975 at London's New Victoria Theatre. The recording was made by BBC Radio 1 and originally used in the broadcast "Insight", as part of the programme "Six Days On The Road". Highly recommended! -
LP
SLAYER - SLAYER - Live In Woodstock Concert Theatre March / July 1983 - FRA Verne Limited Press - LISTEN - VERY RAREprice: 110,00 PLN / 27,50 EUR
Released in France in an edition of 500 copies, lasting nearly 60 minutes, a fascinating live album containing the earliest known material recorded for a handful of fans in March (and then in July) 1983 at the small Woodstock club. Right after the release of one track on the compilation "Metal Massacre III" and half a year before the debut LP "Show No Mercy" (December 1983)! The record contains four tracks unknown and unreleased on any studio album ("Simple Aggression", "Ice Titan", "Assassin" and "Night Rider") reminiscent at times of Mercyful Fate! The material from March 1983 sounds very good (somewhat better and cleaner than the best versions known from YouTube), although it is not perfect either. The laminated, very attractive sleeve contains several rare, nice photos of the band and reproductions of several rare press cuttings from the period! An absolute must for fans of classic metal! The edition will soon run out! Condition: MINT (NEW, UNSEALED). (JL)
