The whole thing in a gatefold digipak, with a richly illustrated, 20-page booklet inside. Highly recommended! (MU) -

The only album released "in their lifetime" by this British band contains wonderful music close to the work of Genesis, Barclay James Harvest and Wishbone Ash. Fairly short (not exceeding 5 minutes), though beautiful compositions. Very good sound quality, slightly marred by light crackle from the analogue record. The absolute canon of British prog-rock. Additionally seven tracks from the excellent, unreleased 1974 record 'Beyond The Beyond'. A MUST! -

This is not a British band, but a progressive, slightly bluesy outfit from the States with a single album, released by Liberty in 1970 and now reissued by Flawed Gems. The American Fantasy is a very eclectic combination of psychedelic style with a pinch of blues and jazz and a typically progressive (quite British) delivery! Quite long tracks, nice guitar solos, ubiquitous, heavy Hammond organ tones and a really nice female vocal! Typical 1970! And there is a surprise... It turned out that the first track on the record, Blues Creation/Carmen Maki's "I Understand", was composed by none other than the 16-year-old vocalist! Highly recommended! -

I have always thought very highly of this almost completely unknown record, released by Polydor in 1970! Let me say at once that it is in no way the rhythm'n'blues-pop-soul known from the earlier (widely known) albums, but richly arranged and classically delivered progressive rock (with a dominant Hammond organ sound) at a very high level! Farlowe was not quite the main protagonist of this album, as the music itself was reportedly made much earlier, and the vocalist merely added his vocal parts at the end. The band The Hill, meanwhile, which grew out of the last line-up of the Thunderbirds, includes the keyboard player Peter Robinson (then in Quatermass), the guitarist and great composer Steve Hammond (ex-Fat Mattress, Quatermass) and the cellist Paul Buckmaster (early Elton John, Third Ear Band). So it is hardly surprising that the result was an exquisite, very refined, though not the easiest to take in (that is praise) album. Of course the record did not sell at all, and in that same year, 1970, Farlowe recorded the LP "Daughter Of Time" with Colosseum. Digipak edition, with three additional single tracks, one by The Hill and two by the Thunderbirds (from 1968). Highly recommended! (JL) -

A new, limited, European edition of the only album by this American band, the absolute peak of guitar-driven and practically psych-progressive, at times strongly improvised playing with slightly bluesy influences. All the compositions truly stick in the ear, and their interpretation (for an unknown band of teenagers from the deep provinces) arouses genuine admiration! It is not hard to understand that the original vinyl fetches prices exceeding 1500 dollars! Excellent sound and a faithfully reproduced vinyl sleeve! An absolute must! (JL) -

A very nice album by a trio founded by the former leader of Rare Bird - organist Graham Field. It was thanks to him that the first two records sounded so wonderful! Remastered edition of the sensational debut, released in 1975, by an American progressive formation. This is decidedly one of the best records of this kind made outside Europe and probably the best progressive album made in the States! The record contains 4 tracks (including the 19-minute suite taking up the whole of side B of the original LP) in the vein of the output of Genesis, Van Der Graaf Generator, Yes, King Crimson, ELP, Egg or Refugee! Lots of Hammonds, mellotrons and nice analogue synthesiser sounds. This is the British sound circa 1973-74! We think that every fan of progressive rock should have this album in their collection and will certainly be enchanted by this music! This is top-shelf playing! The whole thing was produced by Ian McDonald of King Crimson. Excellent sound! A MUST! (JL) -

On CD for the first time! It is hard to understand why this rare album, which after all was released by British Decca Records, was never released in digital form! In any case, released at the height of the punk revolt and perfectly produced, the Brits' only record is very nice, progressive rock (sometimes aided by a symphony orchestra) in the style of Camel, Yes, Genesis/Steve Hackett and ELP. Three longer tracks deserve special mention - two lasting 7 minutes each and one of 13 minutes. Alongside the CD England "Garden Shed", it is certainly one of the most successful forgotten titles of the second half of the 70s. The drummer had earlier played in the jazz-rock formation Igginbottom (of Allan Holdsworth). Highly recommended! -

A double anthology by an excellent British band, playing early progressive rock with psychedelic touches. Unfortunately the finished album was rejected by the label. It was typical playing for the turn of the decades, that is ubiquitous organ parts, quite dynamic guitar parts, catchy melodies and a somewhat dreamy mood. It may bring to mind Andwella's Dream, Czar and Cressida, as well as Canterbury Glass. The whole thing comes in a gatefold digipak, with a 24-page booklet with rare photos and memories of the band's members inside. A MUST! (JL) -

A digipak, remastered, beautifully sounding version of the record released in 1972 (and reportedly withdrawn from the market on the spot by the Czech censors, although we know there were reprints...), one of my most beloved records from the former Eastern Bloc! Without a doubt it is top three of the best rock records from behind the Iron Curtain and probably the most interesting (together with Meditace - Blue Effect, 1970 ) album once released in the former Czechoslovakia! Great, very absorbing, jazzy, decidedly European playing in the vein of Colosseum (the band was delighted with their Live from 1971) and If, but gentler, without edges and with charmingly catchy melodies, a very solid rhythm section, sharp guitar parts and really nice Czech vocals by the former Blue Effect vocalist. The band did not shy away from experiments with sound and very much wanted the sound of their record to resemble Abbey Road - The Beatles as closely as possible. This is not yet another Spanish or Italian mediocre copy of Mahavishnu Orchestra, but juicy, progressive jazz rock from the highest, world-class shelf! We also have a very nice compilation with single tracks from 1967-1972! A MUST! -

Remastered British edition, expanded with two tracks, of the great second album in the discography of a British progressive band founded by the former Yes guitarist, Peter Banks. The record was once again dominated by elaborate and very dynamic tracks of nearly 10 minutes in the style of the heavier, early Yes recordings. Highly recommended! -

On CD for the first time! Brilliant debut by the progressive Swedes (previously known from, among others, the CD "Flasket" from 1972). Recorded at the end of 1970, almost entirely live, the album contained very catchy, at moments almost hypnotic, improvised material that is an original and unique blend of the style of King Crimson, Frank Zappa, Traffic and Deep Purple (saxophone, flute, organ, electric guitar, bass, drums). Fortunately there is no question of 'art for art's sake', and the individual tracks (four fairly long and four very short) had a fairly clear construction and in their own way were 'catchy'. Alongside the album by the group Panta Rei and perhaps the debut of Kebnekaise, it is my favourite progressive record from Sweden! A MUST! -

A European edition of the excellent third album, released in 1972, by the classics of heavy progressive rock from Japan. Although, inspired in part by the style of Deep Purple of the time, FTB are best known for their first two albums ("Anywhere" from 1970 and "Satori" from 1971), "Made In Japan", made a year later, though for the most part more progressive in character, was in quality hardly inferior to them at all! Note! The label added to the album's content a very interesting, though stylistically somewhat different, bonus track, that is "The Flowers", a 27-minute heavy, psychedelic jam recorded back in 1970 by the band preceding Flower Travellin' Band, Yuya Uchida & The Flowers.
