On CD for the first time! Released in 1973 by Capitol, the only album by an American hard rock formation (with keyboards) led by the former guitarist and leader of Bloodrock. And, all in all, that is also the style of the Lee Pickens Group, though perhaps not as intense as that of the creators of D.O.A. and Breach Of Lease! Without a doubt a treat for lovers of the genre! Recommended! -

Pink Fairies was, in a way, a continuation of the activity of The Deviants. The band's output is hard-hitting, solid, uncomplicated playing on overdriven guitars, drizzled with psychedelic sauce. Three albums recorded for the Polydor label: "Never Never Land" (1971), "What A Bunch Of Sweeties" (1972) and "Kings Of Oblivion" (1973). On the third record the guitar was played by Larry Wallis (ex-UFO) - in 1975 a co-founder of Motorhead. In addition ten bonus tracks. Edition in a traditional, thick plastic case. Highly recommended! -

Under this name are hiding the musicians of Lucifer's Friend - this time combining instrumental heavy-rock in the vein of Deep Purple and Uriah Heep (and their own 1970 debut) with works of classical music. The first Pink Mice album is great, mainly because of the heavy (at moments) sound of the guitars - almost lifted straight from the LF debut. Unfortunately, the second record, released two years later (almost in a different era), was dominated by synthesizers and was much gentler and weaker than the debut - a typical bonus. Recommended! One of the best British hard-rock records of the mid-70s! This unknown band played very heavy, driving rock, enriching the sound with occasional keyboard parts. The whole thing sounds like a combination of early Budgie, Agnes Strange - with rocking, early Hawkwind (vocals). Australian edition. Highly recommended! (JL) -

For me a stunner! A completely forgotten British band on its only album, from 1969, combined elements of hard-rock, classical music, pop and psychedelia in rather peculiar fashion with... diabolical moods. Such was the (short-lived) fashion at the time! Choirs, short sentences in Latin, church organs, heavy guitar riffs, catchy melodies - at moments the band sounded almost like Black Sabbath (without the great power), The Beatles or the forgotten Arzachel! The group Methuselah sounded somewhat similar (though without the pseudo-diabolical business). The whole thing was produced by Simon Napier-Bell, known among other things for working with The Yardbirds (1966). This is one of my favourite forgotten albums! Note! Unlike, for example, the records of the group Coven, this is not a Satanic album! A MUST! -

This is juicy, dynamic guitar playing with distinct drums and a nice, overdriven bass. In addition twelve very rare tracks from vinyl singles are included (you can sometimes hear it) and for that alone the publisher deserves praise. Highly recommended! (JL) -

Released in 1977, the debut album by the later NWOBHM classics, kept in the style of Black Sabbath's later recordings. It is hardly surprising, since the whole thing was produced (and contributed to musically) by Tony Iommi himself, and the band's leader at the time was Geoff Nicholls, playing guitar and keyboards - later a long-time Sabs collaborator. The superb opening track "Mainline Raiders" uncannily recalls "Heaven And Hell", which came three years later... In addition, five great recordings from rare singles (including a Mountain cover) and compilations. Excellent sound - beating the old Majestic Rock CD hands down! Highly recommended! (JL) -

This fan-club CD, limited to 500 copies and lasting 68 minutes, contains a recording of the legendary radio performance that Queen gave at the famous London hall on Christmas Eve 1975. The concert took place right after the release of the LP "A Night At The Opera" and shows the group in the role of a new rock star. Interestingly, almost all the tracks come from the excellent first three albums, so the playing is really heavy, intense, but always melodic and catchy. The sound quality is ideal - only in the rock'n'roll medley is it muffled. This concert at the Hammersmith Odeon, released on very limited and expensive vinyl by the BBC Transcription Service, is one of the most famous items in the band's unofficial discography. Combined with a gallery of very attractive photos, it is an essential item for every fan of the band! A must! (JL) -
