A three-disc set containing the remastered albums from 1976-1978 by a forgotten British band playing hard rock in the style of early Queen and Sweet, combined with David Bowie. The first CD contains the debut "Sweet Silence" from 1976, with six bonus tracks, including the singles "Eee I'm Alright", "Christmas With Dicken" and "Lucky Man", CD2 is, for the first time on CD, "Mr Big" from 1977, with the hits "Romeo" and "Feel Like Calling Home", and CD3 "Seppuku", produced by Ian Hunter of Mott The Hoople, which was to be released in 1978, but only saw the light of day in 2001. The whole thing in a rigid box, with a 20-page booklet containing, among other things, an interview with the vocalist Dicken and the drummer John Burnip. (MU) -

Released in 1977 on double vinyl, the live, third and at the same time last classic album by the 'Japanese Deep Purple'. The band plays really fantastically here, and the live versions sound even better than their studio counterparts - which in the 70s was the standard for every self-respecting rock group. Only in the last 30 years has the value of the live album (usually made half in the studio) dropped almost to zero, and most of them are typical contract or discography fillers... Returning to Murasaki, this CD, lasting exactly 80 minutes, sounds like a (inevitably) somewhat weaker copy of Deep Purple's 'Made In Japan' combined with 'Made In Europe'. Is that an incentive? For me an enormous one! Compared with the original album the order of the tracks has been slightly changed and incidentally a mediocre, cloying ballad has dropped out. The sound itself, however, is almost excellent! A must! -

A limited, excellent CD containing 80 minutes of top hard rock live playing from the BBC radio archives - in perfect sound quality! This is early Nazareth - still hungry, still a little bluesy and not holding back on stage. All the recordings were made before the release of their breakthrough LP "Razamanaz" - in July 1972 and January 1973. The band plays quite a few covers, including excellent, heavily extended versions of Tim Rose's "Morning Dew" and a nearly 10-minute, jamming "Black Hearted Woman" from the repertoire of the Allman Brothers Band! In addition, two tracks from studio sessions have been added. A must! -

The only record, released in 1972 by the Zebra label, owned by Polydor Records (and now very collectable though short-lived), is an excellent, ultra-heavy, German progressive rock in the style of Deep Purple, Uriah Heep and Black Sabbath, as well as Silberbart and Lucifer's Friend. Based on very heavy riffs and at times flaunting a psychedelic atmosphere, the album is considered by many an example of the heaviest, at times almost extreme playing of the early 70s and I assure you it should disappoint nobody! A new, limited and greatly expanded edition of the third and at the same time last album, originally released in 1972, by the Swedes playing heavy, progressive rock. Note! The title of the LP did not mean the 'sixth' album but referred to the date of 6 November 1632 - the day of the death of King Gustavus Adolphus II in the Battle of Lützen - which is, incidentally, immortalised on the beautiful sleeve... Musically it is probably the most varied record by the band, which on the one hand presented some of its heaviest guitar riffs and aggressive sounds, but at the same time did not shy away from gentler passages. Either way - great, classic playing from the early 70s! Additionally 3 greatly extended live tracks from 1971 are included, lasting as much as 26 minutes together and released years later on 'November Live'! A MUST! Condition: New, sealed. (JL)
