DAVIS, SPENCER -GROUP- (see also: Hardin And York) - SPENCER DAVIS GROUP - Taking Out Time: Complete Recordings 1967-1969 (3CD BOX) - UK RPM Remastered Edition - LISTENprice: 130,00 PLN / 32,50 EUR
A beautifully produced three-disc box set containing recordings from what is, in my opinion, the most interesting period of this popular band's output (1967-1969), that is, made after the departure of Stevie Winwood, who was replaced by the 17-year-old keyboard player Eddie Hardin! In spring 1967 the hitherto rhythm'n'blues band began a fairly serious flirtation with psychedelia, resulting in two fantastic singles and the soundtrack LP to the cult film "Here We Go Round Mullberry Bush" (here also with additional material from the same session). The band's best moment, however, was the fourth album in the discography, the superb LP "With Their New Face On" (January 1968). In my opinion this is genuinely stunning playing - something like a cross between The Artwoods and the psychedelic Beatles, The Move, Procol Harum and with a pinch of Cream. In addition, the almost progressive album "Funky" from 1969, not seen on CD for 15 years, has been added, a mixture of everything that was being played at the time. All three records have been garnished with plenty of bonus tracks, and the third disc includes, among other things, previously unreleased, fantastic sessions made for BBC radio. Fans of the band need not pay attention to the fact that some of this material was previously available. The whole thing lasts four hours, and the set also includes a very nice booklet, so it is certainly worth being tempted! Highly recommended! (JL) -

DEEP FEELING (UK psych) (see also: Traffic/Family) - DEEP FEELING - Pretty Colours - Unreleased Tracks 1966-67 - UK Sunbeam 1st Press - LISTEN - LAST COPYprice: 200,00 PLN / 50,00 EUR
LAST COPY! This is brand new, previously unreleased material by a British formation made up of future members of Traffic, Family and Art/Spooky Tooth - with Gordon Jackson (known from the great album with Blossom Toes and Mighty Baby as the backing group...) on vocals. Unfortunately, during the recording of the debut album (autumn 1966) Jim Capaldi left for Traffic and that was the end. Only five tracks were made. Excellent playing somewhere between freakbeat and early psychedelia - something in the style of very early Pink Floyd, Art, Fleur De Lys, etc. Recommended! Condition: NEW, sealed. -
CD
DEEP PURPLE - DEEP PURPLE - Gemini Suite Live, September 1970 - EU Sweet Leaf Limited Edition - VERY RARE - LISTENprice: 55,00 PLN / 13,75 EUR
This limited, collectable CD of nearly 80 minutes, released in a small run, contains above all the only band, 44-minute premiere performance, from September 1970, of Jon Lord's composition 'Gemini Suite' - known from the legendary keyboardist's solo album released in 1971 (with the help of several friends, including Glover and Paice). Of course we are dealing here with the Blackmore/Gillan/Glover/Lord/Paice line-up! This is sophisticated, strongly progressive playing (band + orchestra) in the style of the LP 'Concerto For Group And Orchestra' (1969). Recorded by the BBC (which, for legal reasons, all earlier versions of this title kept quiet about) and originally released in 1970 on a limited, promotional BBC Transcription Service disc - the sound quality is almost perfect - even slightly better than on the editions last released 15 years ago. Besides the three-part suite, as many as 35 rare recordings from the same period are additionally included: the 12-minute version of 'Mandrake Root' from London, from July 1970, released nowhere else, and 4 recordings (including 3 in fragments) made in the same July 1970 for Granada TV and released on the excellent, though short, VHS cassette 'Doing Their Thing'. In all we have here 79 minutes of Deep Purple from the classic period! A must! (JL) Condition: new, sealed. -
CD
DEEP PURPLE - DEEP PURPLE - Live In Amsterdam, August 1969 - EU Sweet Leaf Limited Edition - VERY RARE - LISTENprice: 55,00 PLN / 13,75 EUR
This is a limited CD, released in a small run, containing the first recorded concert with the then new vocalist Ian Gillan, which took place at the end of August 1969 at the Paradiso club in Amsterdam! This splendid 77-minute CD (a greatly improved and better-sounding version of the good old CD "Ritchie's Blues" from 1989) contains, among others, an early version of "Speed King" (here as the 9-minute "Kneel & Pray") and, leaving aside the version from the LP "Made In Japan", probably the best, brilliantly sung performance of "Child In Time" - a full eight months before the release of the LP "In Rock"! The sound quality is excellent (the source was a Dutch radio broadcast, from 1987), though in the first recording the sound engineers could not cope with the balance (no guitar for half of the recording), and "Mandrake Root" was faded out after five minutes. Fortunately, however, the publisher very neatly worked in the missing twelve minutes from two rare and professionally recorded other performances from the same period! Additionally included is an 11-minute version of "Paint In Black", which did not fit on the single CD "Live In Montreux, October 1969", also released by Sweet Leaf Records. A must! (JL) -
CD
DEEP PURPLE - DEEP PURPLE - Live In Montreux, October 1969 - EU Sweet Leaf Limited Edition - VERY RARE - LISTENprice: 55,00 PLN / 13,75 EUR
A limited, 78-minute CD, released in a small run, being a recording (taken from the mixing desk) of an excellent Deep Purple concert from the legendary casino in Montreux, Switzerland (the one later described in 'Smoke On The Water') from October 1969 - already in the classic line-up with Gillan and Glover - played a full eight months before the release of the album "In Rock". This is the only surviving full performance by the band from the first concert tour with I.G. and R.G. in 1969 and the only surviving recording of a live version of "Kentucky Woman" with Gillan on vocals! Besides, at the end of 1969 the band played somewhat more progressively than a year later! The sound quality is practically excellent! Note! The 11-minute version of the Stones' song "Paint It Black" was moved to the CD "Live In Amsterdam, August 1969", also released by Sweet Leaf Records! A must! NEW, SEALED. (JL) -
LP
DEEP PURPLE - DEEP PURPLE - Live At The L.A. Forum, October 1968 - EU Open Mind LIMITED Press - LISTEN - VERY RAREprice: 120,00 PLN / 30,00 EUR
Released in a beautiful, gatefold, laminated sleeve (inside which are several nice photos of the band), a single European vinyl, LIMITED TO 500 COPIES, containing a complete, 50-minute show from October 1968 (DP appeared as support for Cream) - the only surviving recording of a concert by the first line-up with Evans and Simper! This very attractive, often thrilling material sounds very nice (much better here than on the CD "Inglewood"), although it is still not ideal. The 180-gram black vinyl is perfectly pressed! A must! NEW, not shrink-wrapped. -
CD
DEEP PURPLE - DEEP PURPLE - Copenhagen 1972 (2CD) - Remastered Edition - LISTENprice: 80,00 PLN / 20,00 EUR
A superb, two-disc concert from March 1972 - recorded by Danish television 5 months before the LP "Made In Japan" - known from the VHS/DVD "Scandinavian Nights". Additionally 23 minutes from the concert at Hofstra University in New York, from 1973. Excellent, improved sound! A MUST! -
CD
DEEP PURPLE - DEEP PURPLE - Fireball On Tour 1971-1972 - SPA Top Gear Limited Edition - LISTEN - VERY RAREprice: 60,00 PLN / 15,00 EUR
A rare, limited, Spanish 72-minute CD, containing fragments of two shows from the British tour promoting the LP "Fireball" - two long recordings from London's Royal Albert Hall, from October 1971 (including a premiere, early "Lazy" and a genuinely unique, 10-minute, heavily improvised version of "Fireball"!!!) and five tracks from Dagenham - including the rarely performed "No No No" and a 16-minute, great version of "Child In Time". The sound quality is really very good (a quite professional audience recording), though not ideal. Please bear in mind that there are very few recordings from the "Fireball" album tour and practically all are of very poor quality. This CD is a glorious exception. And that 10-minute "Fireball" alone (no other known version is so extended) is worth the price of the whole! Highly recommended! (JL) -
CD
DEEP PURPLE - DEEP PURPLE - Live At Long Beach Arena 1976 (2CD) - UK Editionprice: 80,00 PLN / 20,00 EUR
A British edition on Purple Records of a very nice performance by the band during the tour promoting the LP Come Taste The Band. Tommy Bolin on guitar. This is material 5 times better than, say, the LP Last Concert In Japan. Recommended. -

The black vinyl is perfectly pressed and sounds even better than the excellent CD version! A must! Condition: NEW -

Released in a beautiful, gatefold, laminated sleeve, a single European vinyl, LIMITED TO 500 COPIES, a 62-minute black vinyl (flawlessly pressed), containing fragments of two shows from the British tour promoting the LP "Fireball" - two long recordings from London's Royal Albert Hall from October 1971 (including a premiere, early "Lazy" and a genuinely unique, 10-minute, heavily improvised version of "Fireball"!!!) and four tracks from Dagenham - including the rarely performed "No No No" and a 16-minute, great version of "Child In Time".
