A wonderful album recorded in 1970 by two musicians (McDonald - the main composer playing wind instruments and Mellotron, and Giles - the drummer) from the first, best line-up of King Crimson, assisted by Pete Giles and Steve Winwood. In my opinion this record was little short of the first two King Crimson titles in quality. Remastered 2023 edition. A must! (JL) -

A new, limited, European edition of the only album, released in 1972, by a forgotten American band, playing progressive, jazzy rock (still with psychedelic touches) reminiscent, oddly enough, more of the recordings of British 'horn' bands such as If, Galliard and Walrus than of the American Chicago, Blood Sweat & Tears or Chase. The opening 11-minute "The Monster's Bride" is an absolutely brilliant rock classic, full of changing moods and at the same time decorated with wonderful melodic lines. The remaining three tracks (and especially the 3rd and 4th) are hardly inferior to it. An absolute must! (JL) -

A limited, European reissue of the only, but excellent, album, released in November 1971, by an Australian band playing heavy, progressive rock in the style of strong Spooky Tooth from their best period with an admixture of Atomic Rooster and Deep Purple. In fact the band performed its own versions of tracks from the LP 'The Last Puff' (Spooky Tooth, 1970): 'The Wrong Time' and (composed by the Beatles) here an 8-minute 'I Am The Walrus'! Of the 7 tracks as many as 5 were excellent covers of other artists' pieces and 2 were the band's original compositions - including an excellent, improvised, over 10-minute track with flute in the leading role! Generally the album was filled to the brim with the juicy, "British" sound of 1969-1970, that is plenty of Hammonds, striking yet solid guitars and thoroughbred vocals: a predominant female (great) and a marginally appearing male (OK). Once again: there is zero filler on this album! Released in a run of only 500 copies, the McPhee vinyl album is probably the greatest rock rarity from the circle of Australian old rock, because every serious collector wants to have it and listen to it! Well-preserved copies with the checkered front and the very dark sleeve, impossible to keep without minor scuffs, when they appear cost over 2000 euros! A must! (JL) Condition: New, sealed. -

It is top-shelf dark, psychedelic rock (with distant echoes of rhythm'n'blues) - surprisingly up to date at the time, and even ahead of American or British trends by a few months. In addition, two recordings from a very rare single. Excellent sound and great pressing. The laminated sleeve looks like the Swedish original. Highly recommended! New, sealed. (JL) -

The album is fairly varied, though on most tracks the band continues along the route set out on the second album - still very psychedelic, with its head in space, but at moments much heavier than before. Please do not be put off by the rustic cover! This album, recorded in Stockholm in 1969 and released only in the States in 1970, is heavy, strongly narcotic (but without clowning), psychedelic, at moments progressive rock from Sweden - of a very high shelf! This time the leader, playing Hammonds and singing in the manner of Hendrix, took on three former musicians of the excellent, psychedelic group Baby Grandmothers and the result was a genuinely great album - harking back to the style of Pink Floyd, Iron Butterfly, Hendrix, The Doors, Cream and very early Soft Machine. The record contains, among others, two longer, 8-10 minute mini-suites. For the first time on CD the American mix, released only on vinyl in 1970, is used. The previous CD edition (in a digipak) contained the unreleased Swedish mix and just two tracks from the USA. Now the Swedish mix has been split in half between the second and third albums. A must! On CD for the first time! Released in 1969, the only album by this psychedelic Canadian formation belongs to the circle of collectable vinyl rarities (it is, among others, in Hans Pokora's book). The Medium played inventive, very polished and at the same time very atmospheric music, close to the style of The Doors, Vanilla Fudge, Iron Butterfly and the little-known C.A. Quintet - that is, lots of organ parts and sharply overdriven (at moments even jazzy) guitar. Highly recommended! -

A three-disc compilation from 2019. The first CD contains the album created in 1959 by the legendary producer Joe Meek with the group the Blue Men. At the time only an EP with four tracks was released; further releases were prevented by the producer's financial problems, and he died in 1967. Only in 1991 did the RPM label release the whole album, in a refreshed version. Here we find both the 1991 version and the original one from 1960. The remaining discs of the set contain recordings by pioneers of electronic music, including Pierre Boulez, Olivier Messiaen, Karlheinz Stockhausen, Edgard Varese, John Cage and Daphne Oram. -

Released by the French Verne Records in an edition of 500 copies, a limited album collecting great, classic, 60-minute live material recorded on 18 April 1988 in Toronto, Canada, during the tour promoting the album "So Far, So Good, So What?" released a little earlier. The material, taken from the mixing desk, was recorded by the line-up: Dave Mustaine, David Ellefson, Jeff Young and Chuck Behler. The quality of this vinyl, containing twelve recordings, is very good - perhaps there is a bit too much treble here and a little too little midrange. The laminated, very attractive sleeve by Ed Repka also contains several rare, nice photos of the band. An absolute must for all metal fans! Condition: MINT/NEW, unsealed. (JL) -

Released in France in a run of 500 copies, an album gathering great, classic, rare studio material from various recording sessions made in 1989-1995, with the best (in my opinion) Megadeth line-up: Dave Mustaine, Marty Friedman, David Ellefson and Nick Menza. Of the sixteen recordings as many as eight (including covers of Black Sabbath, Alice Cooper and the Sex Pistols) appeared on the rare CD compilation "Hidden Treasures", on forgotten, cult soundtracks, or on vinyl and compact disc singles. The record includes, among others, an excellent 'cover' of Kiss ("Strange Ways"), and also, as a bonus - from London, from 1990, a live "It's Electric" (from the repertoire of Diamond Head), recorded with the original vocalist of the Britons - Sean Harris. The quality of this 52-minute vinyl is perfect - like a catalogue studio album! The laminated, very attractive cover by Ed Repka contains several rare, nice photographs of the band and reproductions of several rare sleeves and posters! An absolute must! The record was made by what is in my opinion the band's best line-up: Dave Mustaine, Marty Friedman, David Ellefson and Nick Menza. The latter's drumming is simply sensational (please watch "Rattlehead" on YouTube!)! The quality of this vinyl, containing twelve recordings and lasting 52 minutes, is perfect - without a doubt the band played and sounded their best in their entire career! The laminated, very attractive cover by Ed Repka (taken from a poster advertising the demolition of the Berlin Wall, from 1989) also contains several rare, nice photographs of the band.
