AC/DC - AC/DC - Live In Nijmegen, Holland 1978 - FRA Verne Records Limited Press - VERY RAREprice: 110,00 PLN / 27,50 EUR
An excellent, limited album containing a 54-minute performance from 23 October 1978, from Nijmegen in the Netherlands - from the tour promoting the LP "If You Want Blood". The source of the concert was a radio broadcast, so the sound quality is excellent - certainly in no way inferior to the official record mentioned above! The album contains the rare "Gone Shootin'", as well as the classic "Sin City" and "Live Wire" - absent from the catalogue concert album from 1978. It is worth noting the cover, which was originally... an outtake from the photo session for "If You Want Blood" and comes from a rare Japanese single! A must! Condition: MINT (NEW, UNSEALED) (JL) -

AC/DC - AC/DC - School Days - A Collection Of Rare Singles And Australian Albums Tracks 1974-1978 - FRA Verne Limited Press - VERY RARE - LISTENprice: 110,00 PLN / 27,50 EUR
An excellent black vinyl limited to 500 copies, containing thirteen important, rare tracks, eleven of which appeared on very rare Australian singles (including "Carry Me Home", "Fling Thing", the live "Dog Eat Dog") and albums ("Stick Around", "Love Song", "School Days", "R.I.P.", "Crabsody In Blue", "Cold Hearted Man") and generally do not feature in the international discography. The two most important recordings, however, appear right at the start of the record, and they are tracks from the ultra-rare debut single "Can I Sit Next To You Girl/Rockin' In The Parlour" from the summer of 1974, recorded still with the vocalist Dave Evans! The single, worth 1200 euros and released by Albert Productions, never, ever appeared on any full-length record or on an anniversary box set and is much sought after by die-hard fans (hence that insane price)! The quality of all the recordings is excellent! It is hard to imagine any fan of the band not buying this brilliant record! A must! Condition: MINT, NEW, unsealed. (JL) -

AFTER THE FIRE - AFTER THE FIRE - Signs Of Change +4 - UK Angel Air Expanded - LISTENprice: 65,00 PLN / 16,25 EUR
Debut and surprisingly successful album, released privately in 1978, by a British progressive formation playing a classic variety of symphonic rock (Hammond organ, moog) in the vein of ELP, Yes, Genesis, Flash and Druid. The band was formed in 1971, hence all six compositions have a fairly original form. After a change of line-up, the next records sounded decidedly new wave and are better avoided. The great debut, however - by all means! -

BLACK SABBATH - BLACK SABBATH - 'Never Say Die' World Tour 1978 (2LP) - FRA Verne Limited Press - VERY RARE - LISTENprice: 170,00 PLN / 42,50 EUR
A limited, two-record, absolutely stunning black vinyl released (like all Verne Records double editions) in a very attractive, single sleeve and containing nearly 115 minutes of material from the tour promoting the band's 10th anniversary and the underrated (and in my opinion very good) LP "Never Say Die" from 1978! Most of the recordings come from a performance in Pittsburgh recorded by American radio, but also from London's Hammersmith (4 tracks) and from Abilene, USA (4 tracks - including a very rare version of "Shock Wave"). The album contains all the compositions performed during that tour, and the last side of the record is filled with repeats of 4 recordings from other performances. Great sound quality! A must! Condition: MINT (new, but unsealed) (JL) -

All the compositions have been joined into a single whole (without breaks) and almost the entire (apart from two fragments) set of recordings from this tour has been reproduced! The CD contains, among other things, a very rare version of "Shock Wave". Great sound quality! A must! (JL) -

BOHEMIA - Zrnko pisku - CZ SUPRAPHONprice: 80,00 PLN / 20,00 EUR
"Released by Panton back in 1978, the LP Zrnko Písku was a classic of the jazz-fusion circle, distinguished by excellent, even virtuoso saxophone parts, impressive guitar playing, great drumming and, to put it mildly, rather peculiar vocal parts... The record opened with the 7-minute Chór Minulých Nohou V Průchodu "Pasáž", composed by Kubik - a strongly swinging, thoroughly convoluted piece built on a distinctive bass line and backed by a slightly hoarse vocal that, in my opinion, was a foreign body. The track took on colour in the 4th minute thanks to atmospheric keyboard parts and especially the saxophone, although Semelka sadly returned in the last minute. Then came the 6-and-a-half-minute Zátiší Peronních Lístků, written by the guitarist - a great, pleasantly catchy, again swaying piece, though not shy of full-blooded, rock dynamics, showing Pavlíček as a diligent and at the same time eloquent pupil of the John McLaughlin school - not to mention more delicious phrases from the saxophone... The first side closed with the balladic Sen O Snu composed by Semelka - a very slow, 6-minute number sung mainly to the accompaniment of piano and occasional impressive phrases from a classical guitar. The second, even better side of the record was taken up by just two compositions by Jan Kubik, the first of which was the Horké Letní Stmívání, lasting over 9 minutes - probably the best part of the album, which, apart from a convoluted and not very convincing Gentle Giant-style introduction (and a similar short ending), delighted with both the dynamic flute playing and almost oriental sax phrases against the backdrop of a distinctive but spacious-sounding rhythm section, and finally with almost Crimson-like, intense riffs from the saxophone and guitar... The album ended with the very restless (even Semelka woke from his lethargy and sounded like a rock vocalist) Milenci Před Pollockovým Obrazem - a 7-and-a-half-minute piece, full of intricacies and stylistic twists, which in the sixth minute rewards the patient listener with incredibly lively, improvised playing from the saxophonist and drummer - a passage that would fit perfectly on one of the early Van Der Graaf Generator albums. Sensational! Who knows whether in the second half of the 70s our southern neighbours didn't play the best progressive jazz-rock of all! And please, let nobody jump in here with SBB..." A REVIEW BY JACEK LEŚNIEWSKI FROM A BOOK ABOUT ROCK IN THE FORMER EASTERN BLOC, BEGUN BUT ABANDONED HALF A YEAR LATER (2021). -

LP
BUDGIE - BUDGIE - Live At A&M Recording Studios, Los Angeles 1978 (2LP) - FRA Verne Limited Press - VERY RAREprice: 170,00 PLN / 42,50 EUR
This French, limited double black vinyl contains a 65-minute concert of excellent sound quality, recorded (by the quartet, which at the time played live with two guitars) for radio on the American tour promoting the LP Impeckable. NOTE! For many years this material was circulated on the band's own CD "Radio Sessions" (together with material from 1974). The problem is that that (THEORETICALLY great-sounding concert) was... sped up by someone! The 65 minutes from Los Angeles were played in 63 and a half! The band 'played too fast' and to tell the truth I always had the impression that something was wrong - it was livelier, but rather light... Only after listening to the CD 'Live In Milwaukee 1978', recorded 5 days later, did it dawn on me that the official material sold by the band is faulty! Either way, the album contains all the material as God intended. In addition, as a bonus, 37 minutes from the Milwaukee show are included, including the tracks Zoom Club and Sky High Percentage, which are absent from LA. It is a pity that this album did not come out at the time! It would have been another hard rock live classic of the late 70s on a par with Tokyo Tapes - Scorpions, Strangers In The Night - UFO or Live And Dangerous - Thin Lizzy! A must! Condition: NEW, but not shrink-wrapped. -

BUDGIE - BUDGIE - Live In Milwaukee 1978 - FRA On The Air Edition - VERY RAREprice: 60,00 PLN / 15,00 EUR
This French, fan-club CD contains the full, 80-minute concert that was recorded (by the quartet, then playing with two guitars) on the American tour promoting the LP "Impeckable". The sound quality is very good, because from what I know it is the first cassette copy from the original reel recorded straight from the mixing desk. The only problem is the fact that in the first track ("Melt The Ice Away") the first minute was missing and it has been patched in from the official CD "Radio Sessions". Of course hiss has been removed, the bass and treble boosted a little - it is better than very good! ATTENTION! One more thing! Five days earlier, during the same tour, material was recorded at the A&M studios in Los Angeles, which came out on the CD "Heavier Than Air", and then on the CD "Radio Sessions" released by the band. The problem is that that (theoretically great-sounding concert) was by someone... sped up! 65 minutes were played in 63 and a half! The band 'played too fast' and to tell the truth I always had the impression that something was not right - it was livelier, but rather light... Only after listening to "Live In Milwaukee 1978" did it dawn on me that the official material sold by the band is faulty! Either way, the Milwaukee concert is recorded at the proper speed and contains two more tracks than the Los Angeles one: "Sky High Percentage" and "Zoom Club". In addition several nice photos from the same tour are included. This is a great treat for fans of heavy rock! Highly recommended! -
