Released in 1972 by the German branch of Epic, the only, but splendid, album, containing thrillingly performed, richly arranged progressive music typical of Germany, based on the interplay of organ, electric and acoustic guitars, flute, saxophone, recalling a combination of the style of, among others, Jane, Out Of Focus and Murphy Blend. The band drew on various sources; sometimes it sounded almost hard rock, at other times it approached the style of jazz-rock, or showed a fascination with the work of Pink Floyd and Jethro Tull. Generally the record should delight all fans of good old, juicy playing. The CD contains over 30 minutes of excellent, rare material (different, much better than the two live tracks on the old and worse-sounding Ohrwashl edition), recorded in the studio and live in 1971-1972. In 1973 the group changed its name to Sahara and released the great 'Sunrise' (1974). A MUST! Condition: New, sealed. (JL) -

A great-sounding and attractive-looking reissue of the only, but splendid, album by an Icelandic band, recorded in 1972 in London and originally released privately by the band. The Svanfridur musicians played ambitious and very atmospheric, classic progressive rock, with distinct influences of psychedelia, folk, jazz and heavy sounds. The quartet's music can be roughly described as a combination of the style of Jethro Tull (with far less flute), Wishbone Ash, Gnidrolog, Curved Air and East Of Eden. It was decidedly British playing, but with a large dose of Scandinavian gloom and melancholy - very sophisticated, a bit hard to take in at once, but in its own way orderly and ear-catching. Almost every fan of good old rock should be delighted with this record! Currently the first edition in perfect condition is worth 1000 euros! A MUST! Condition: New, sealed. (JL) -

Released only in 2012, very, very good, previously unpublished material recorded still as a trio, but already in a changed line-up - though with the vocalist/drummer/main composer Peter Dunton on board. What is there to say... T2 is the greatest mystery and the greatest hard-luck case in the history of British rock. If the brilliant second ("T2" from 1970) and this third album had appeared at the time, we would be dealing with rock masterpieces! "1971-72" contains nine recordings, of which seven stand at the band's typically very high level, while the other two are a little underdeveloped (including a decent, acoustic ballad and a nice drum solo with additions), but they still have class. Despite the fact that it is somewhat weaker material than the earlier two killers, it is still the slowly rolling, steamroller-like, dark but at the same time intriguing with sudden changes of mood T2 with sleepy vocals - just as we have known and loved for years. A 2022 Spanish reissue, dedicated to Peter Dunton, who died in January. -

Despite the fact that it is slightly weaker material than the earlier two killers, it is still the slowly rolling like a steamroller, dark, yet at the same time intriguing with sudden changes of mood T2 with a dreamy vocal - such as we have known and adored for years. The sound quality is like on the previous, archive CD, sometimes minimally better, sometimes a little worse, but without hiss. An absolute MUST!!!!! (JL) -

An absolute must for every fan of very heavy sounds in the vein of Black Sabbath, Jerusalem, Night Sun and Suck - with fairly gentle vocals and two obligatory ballads. The album may be a little raw, but it has to be admitted that few achieved such sounds at the time. The only vinyl by this Peruvian band is the object of longing for almost all serious collectors of rare rock LPs - in near-perfect condition fetching prices exceeding 3000 dollars! I repeat: an absolute must for every fan of heavy, old rock! 2023 Spanish edition, in a gatefold sleeve. -

A fantastic album from Japan, originally released in 1972! Takeshi Terauchi is a master of the guitar and in the 60s was a great star of Japanese guitar pop-rock in the style of The Shadows. In 1972 he turned towards heavier rock and with his band recorded the fantastic LP "Rashomon", inspired by Kurosawa's film. It was a combination of psychedelic, heavy rock with surf music and Japanese folk - with the superb sound of heavily overdriven (and clean) guitars in the leading role! On screen it may look strange, but the end result is stunning! "Rashomon" is one of my favourite records from Japan - I have known it since the early 90s, when I received a parcel with CDs by Blues Creation, Speed Glue And Shinki, Far Out and Flower Travellin' Band! A great treat for rock fans looking for something a little different! A must! (JL) -

Beautifully presented, remastered edition of the second album by Lynott's formation, expanded with nine tracks (singles, other mixes and four great tracks from the BBC). It was decidedly progressive playing that in its own way combined the style of heavy rock with elements of folk and ballad. The album did not sell at all at the time (which is hardly surprising, as that was the norm then for little-known bands), but soon afterwards the situation changed for the better thanks to "Whiskey In The Jar" (here in a nearly 6-minute version). Earlier, in 1991, this material came out in Italy under the name Prophecies. -

The discography of this great hard-rock band is thoroughly tangled... In any case this is the second catalogue album - released on LP in Germany in 1972 (and in the States in 1973 under the title "Three Man Army"). "Mahesha" is full of captivating, heavy guitar playing - like the underrated debut. Highly recommended! So the CD "Two", recorded in 1974, was the third album!!! And the recently released "3", containing archive recordings, should be called "4"... Recommended! -

Released in 1972, the debut album by this Canadian band is very energetic and generally genuinely heavy rock full of massive guitar riffs, juicy drumming, but also catchy, harmony-sung melodies. It is an example of a record on which the commercial aspect was combined in an almost ideal way with pure, grubby rock. I know what I am writing, because I have known the album for years and listened to it dozens of times. It is worth mentioning that Terry Brown worked on the record - producer of all of Rush's classic albums! Highly recommended! CONDITION: NEW -

The debut album of this Canadian formation, released in 1972, is very energetic and generally genuinely heavy rock, full of massive guitar riffs, juicy drumming but also catchy melodies sung in harmony. This is an example of a record on which the commercial aspect is combined with grubby rock in an almost perfect way. I know what I am writing, because I have known the album for years and have listened to it dozens of times. In the States the LP "Strikes" came out a year later (on Epic Records), but it was a compilation of tracks from the first two LPs, whereas the Swedish CD contains the material from the original Canadian debut. It is worth mentioning that Terry Brown - producer of all the classic albums by Rush - worked on the record! Highly recommended! -

Remastered and genuinely fantastic-sounding edition of the excellent debut album, released in 1972, by a Yugoslav, progressive formation. Today it is hard to believe, but in Yugoslavia, dominated by single releases, it was only the second LP (full-length record) of rock music released in that country! A few years earlier only the pop rock debut of Grupa 220 had had that honour. To tell the truth it is hard to define the music of Time, but one can probably risk a comparison with Traffic, Procol Harum, Focus, and even Atomic Rooster on sleeping pills. In addition two great live recordings lasting 23 minutes in total and two tracks from the brand new 1973 single are included. A MUST!
