TRAFFIC - TRAFFIC - Traffic (2nd Album) +5 - EU Remastered Expanded Editionprice: 60,00 PLN / 15,00 EUR
A very influential (like, say, the early albums of Procol Harum), but all in all underrated, early-progressive second album containing, among others, "Pearly Queen", "Feelin' Alright" and the brilliant "Cryin' To Be Heard". Plenty of nice bonuses and charming artwork - as in the 'Island Remasters' series. Highly recommended! (JL) -

TRAMLINE (see also: Juicy Lucy / Whitesnake) - TRAMLINE - Somewhere Down The Line - EU Edition - VERY RARE - LISTENprice: 60,00 PLN / 15,00 EUR
Now a classic (once released by Island), the debut album by a British band playing tasty and quite dynamic blues-rock, in the vein of the best work of Savoy Brown and Chicken Shack. The great guitar parts were played by Micky Moody - known, among other things, as Bernie Marsden's guitar partner in Whitesnake. Edition in a classic jewel case. Recommended! -

VARIOUS ARTISTS - VARIOUS ARTISTS - Nuggets - Original Artyfacts From The First Psychedelic Era 1965-1968 (2LP) - EU ORANGE VINYL Pressprice: 300,00 PLN / 75,00 EUR
A double compilation of American psychedelic and garage singles that were released in the mid or late 60s. "Nuggets" was created by Lenny Kaye, who was a salesman at the record shop Village Oldies in New York. It was made under the supervision of the founder of Elektra Records, Jac Holzman. Kaye thought of the project as a series of about eight parts, focusing on different regions of the USA, but Elektra convinced him that one double album would be more commercially viable. It was released on LP by Elektra in 1972 with notes by Kaye, which contained one of the first uses of the term 'punk rock'. The album was reissued, with a new cover, by Sire Records in 1976. In the 80s Rhino Records released Nuggets in a series of fifteen parts, and in 1998 as a four-CD set. -

VARIOUS ARTISTS - VARIOUS ARTISTS - Big Lizard Stomp! - UK Edition - LISTENprice: 55,00 PLN / 13,75 EUR
Throughout the salad years of the teenage American garage band era, a very similar scene existed in Japan. The second in this three-volume series does a great job of chronicling the most interesting sides from this oddball subgenre. REVIEW FROM THE INTERNET: While the bands collected here could easily play in the mid-'60s fuzztone guitar and Farfisa combo organ style at least as well as their American counterparts, many of them would try to sing in English. The consequent mangling of the lyrical text to any given selection into pure gibberish would produce the predictably -- but unintentionally -- hilarious results. That's the guilty pleasure of this entire series in a nutshell, and if you get the joke, this compilation makes great listening for '60s garage band mavens or lovers of audio perversion. -

The second part of a compilation of American psychedelic and garage singles that were released in the mid or late 60s. "Nuggets" was created by Lenny Kaye, who was a salesman at the record shop Village Oldies in New York. It was made under the supervision of the founder of Elektra Records, Jac Holzman. VARIOUS ARTISTS - VARIOUS ARTISTS – Fifth Pipe Dream Volume I (LP) - Guerssen Records Pressprice: 150,00 PLN / 37,50 EUR
A very attractive Guerssen release, awaited for ages, of a legendary American psych rock compilation with unreleased, premiere material issued in 1968 by the San Francisco Sound label, cult today. It features recordings by It’s A Beautiful Day (before their album debut!), Tripsichord Music Box (another legend!) and the forgotten West Coast Natural Gas, San Francisco Sound House Band and Black Swan. The music oscillates between psychedelia, garage rock and folk rock, with plenty of overdriven guitars, organs, multi-voice vocal parts and extended instrumental forms characteristic of the era. The record captures the peak period of the development of psychedelic rock, combining extended guitar parts with the arrangement freedom typical of the late 60s. An edition in the original black-and-white, gatefold sleeve, with a four-page insert and remastered sound. A MUST! (JL) -

VARIOUS ARTISTS - VARIOUS ARTISTS - Heroes And Villains - Sound Of Los Angeles 1965-68 (3CD) - UK Grapefruit Editionprice: 140,00 PLN / 35,00 EUR
A three-disc set containing a cross-section of the Los Angeles music scene in 1965-1968. From the publisher: "After The Beatles delighted with their appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show, the Los Angeles music scene moved beyond the previously dominant surf records to create a thrilling response to the British invasion. Hollywood studios and teen clubs on the Sunset Strip hosted an exciting range of bands such as The Byrds or Sonny And Cher, and in 1965 Los Angeles established its position as the leading music city in America. The scene expanded into psychedelia, sunshine pop and proto-hard rock before the terrifying Manson murders in August 1969 traumatised the Los Angeles music community and brought the carefree sixties to a shocking, apocalyptic end. 'Heroes And Villains' presents the whole LA scene, with classic hits by The Monkees, Paul Revere And The Raiders, Association, The Grass Roots, Love, The Byrds, Beach Boys, Mothers Of Invention, Captain Beefheart, Buffalo Springfield or Mamas And The Papas. It features cult artists such as Strawberry Alarm Clock, The Seeds and Electric Prunes, vocalists such as Tim Buckley or Harry Nilsson, the rising wave of heavy-playing bands such as Steppenwolf and Iron Butterfly, the nascent country rock (Gene Clark, Stone Poneys, Gram Parsons' International Submarine Band) and studio pop bands inspired by the work of the Beach Boys (Sagittarius, The Millennium, The Parade). Everything in a rigid box, with an 80-page, attractive booklet inside. (MU) -

The hundredth release from the Grapefruit label, and in it an overview of the British psychedelic scene! A set of five CDs containing over 50 minutes of previously unreleased music from 1966-68, including demo recordings by Tintern Abbey, Soft Machine, Mabel Greer's Toyshop, Genesis, Mandrake Paddle Steamer and Dantalian's Chariot. WALKER, GARY & THE RAIN (see also: Badfinger) - GARY WALKER & THE RAIN - Album No. 1 - FRA Absinthe Limited Press - VERY RAREprice: 110,00 PLN / 27,50 EUR
Limited to 500 copies, a beautiful (in a gatefold and very colourful sleeve) reissue of the sensational and unfortunately sole album, released in 1968, by a British band led by the drummer of The Walker Brothers. The album originally came out only in Japan and is worth over 2000 euros! It is exquisite, sometimes lighter, sometimes heavier, somewhat Beatles-like psychedelia in the style of The Zombies, Koobas, Skip Bifferty and so on, with stunning overdriven guitar parts from Joey Molland (later in Badfinger). The sound and pressing quality is perfect! I assure you that it is one of the best items of this genre and an absolutely essential one for all fans of playing from 1967-1969! A must! New, sealed. -
CD
WATERS, MUDDY - MUDDY WATERS - Electric Mud - Remastered Digipack - LISTENprice: 60,00 PLN / 15,00 EUR
In my opinion the best (read: the most rock-oriented) album in the career of the legendary black bluesman. Blazing, almost hard rock blues (recorded with black musicians) without a doubt inspired by Hendrix and resembling the output of the white formations of the time (e.g. the Savoy Brown debut). Highly recommended! -
CD
WATERS, MUDDY - MUDDY WATERS - Electric Mud / After The Rain (1968-1969) - UK BGO Remasteredprice: 75,00 PLN / 18,75 EUR
Two excellent blues-rock albums on one remastered CD from BGO. "Electric Mud" (1968) is in my opinion the best (read: the most rock) album in the career of the legendary bluesman. Rocking, almost hard-rock blues. "After The Rain", released a year later, was hardly inferior! Musicians from the group Rotary Connection played on both records. Definitely recommended! (K) -

WEST COAST POP ART EXPERIMENTAL BAND - WEST COAST POP ART EXPERIMENTAL BAND - A Door Inside Your Mind - Complete Reprise Recordings 1966-1968 (4CD) - UK Grapefruit Remastered STEREO & MONO Edition - LISTENprice: 170,00 PLN / 42,50 EUR
A four-disc box set containing the mono mixes (for the first time on CD) and stereo mixes of the band's three albums, recorded for Reprise: "Part One" and "Vol. 2" from 1967 and "Volume 3: A Child's Guide To Good And Evil" from 1968. The fourth CD contains previously unreleased recordings from the sessions for "Vol. 2" and an alternative mix of "Volume 3: A Child's Guide To Good And Evil", as well as single tracks. On all the albums the band charmingly combined catchy melody with an atmospheric, guitar-driven sound, unconventional vocal parts and a psychedelic aura. 40-page booklet inside. Highly recommended! CD
WHO, THE - WHO - Live At The Fillmore East 1968 - SPA Top Gear Expanded Edition - VERY RAREprice: 60,00 PLN / 15,00 EUR
Limited, very tastefully presented, fan-club CD containing the legendary performance by the band at New York's Fillmore East, from April 1968. With the previously released LP "The Who Sell Out" to their name, the band, having transformed from a recent mod-garage formation into a thoroughbred quartet playing heavy, improvised, but melodic rock, planned to record and release an official concert. Hence the perfect quality of this hour of material! Of course it is one of the most frequently copied performances in The Who's long career, but this version beats the old editions with slightly better sound quality and corrected (sped up) speed. This CD contains the only known live versions of "Relax" (here in the form of a long, Cream-style improvisation), "Little Billy" - known from the studio only from the LP "Odds And Sodds" - and an unknown cover of Eddie Cochran's "My Way". In addition three tracks (recorded in March 1967 for German Beat-Club) from London's Marquee and little-known, but superb tracks from singles and a British compilation (1968-1969) - in original mixes! Plus several rare, great photos from the period! An absolute must! (JL) -
