VARIOUS ARTISTS - Nuggets - Vol. 2 Original Artyfacts From The First Psychedelic Era 1964-1968 (2LP) - EU COLOURED VINYL Press

The second part of a compilation of American psychedelic and garage singles that were released in the mid or late 60s. "Nuggets" was created by Lenny Kaye, who was a salesman at the record shop Village Oldies in New York. It was made under the supervision of the founder of Elektra Records, Jac Holzman. Kaye thought of the project as a series of about eight parts, focusing on different regions of the USA, but Elektra convinced him that one double album would be more commercially viable. It was released on LP by Elektra in 1972 with notes by Kaye, which contained one of the first uses of the term 'punk rock'. The album was reissued, with a new cover, by Sire Records in 1976. In the 80s Rhino Records released Nuggets in a series of fifteen parts, and in 1998 as a four-CD set.
