The first (and best) two albums (both from 1968) by a great Danish band playing... in its own way. A captivating combination of pop, psychedelia, folk and hard-rock - something like Procol Harum, Traffic and Earth And Fire. In the lead role is a somewhat hoarse female vocalist, whom someone described as "Grace Slick at 78 rpm", although I would compare her to a more manic, teenage Maggie Bell of Stone The Crows. The young woman wails but also seduces... Plenty of early-progressive playing which, on careful listening, simply delights! Highly recommended! (JL) -

An attractively presented reissue of the debut album by the psychedelic Britons - far better than the vinyl original from Polydor from the end of 1968, deliberately scuffed at the printing house (to look used - hence the double meaning of the term "second hand")... Ethelion has reissued one of the most interesting and most moving albums in the history of British psychedelic rock (or perhaps early progressive). It was very varied playing, full of surprising moments - from charming pop-psychedelia through guitar-driven, almost Hendrix-like heat-ups - right up to dark, atmospheric and almost suicidal moods with church organ in the foreground (the 9-minute "Mainliner" is worth every penny...). Every, but really every fan who likes the fusion of bold psychedelia and early prog rock from the end of the 60s MUST have this record! Attention! Released in a laminated sleeve (with front and back swapped - so that at last someone could read the name and title), the record sounds 30-40% cleaner, better than all the earlier versions on CD or LP - including the unfortunate original worth 300-400 euros! A must! Condition: NEW, but unsealed! -
