A remastered, double French edition (in a tri-fold digipak) of the excellent debut by the cult French band (singing in its own language), playing here progressive rock A.D. 1970 with influences of jazz and classical music. This music, full of surprises and truly original, can be compared to early Gong, King Crimson and Ame Son, with more than a pinch of John Coltrane. I admit that I am not a particular fan of Magma, but this debut, kept in a fairly classic style (a double on vinyl and only on CD named "Kobaia"...) is simply excellent! Highly recommended! (JL) -

It may seem unbelievable, but one of the best albums in the history of French rock is coming out on CD for the first time! Released in 1970 by the label Barclay, "Le Monde en Etage" ("The Tower Of Babel") is strongly eclectic, but free of clowning and filler, early progressive rock with strong influences of Pink Floyd-style and Hendrix-style psychedelia. Records of this kind in France can be counted on the fingers of one hand... Personally I am a big fan of this title and truly believe that having it is a must! -

Very intelligent, though not without a pinch of humour, jazzy (though firmly rooted in rock) playing with the overdriven sound of organ, somewhat twisted electric guitar, saxophone and flute and a scampering rhythm section. A must! New, sealed. -

Released in Italy in 1967 (a year after the French premiere), the Italian-language debut of one of the most distinctive and eccentric artists of the French pop/rock scene of the 60s, when he was only beginning to build his style, mixing French chanson with pop music with influences of rock, beat and subtle melody. On two tracks (including the splendid, hit 'La Poupe Qui Fait Non') Jimmy Page (guitar) and John Paul Jones (bass) appear, 2 years before the debut of Led Zeppelin! In addition to the contents of the vinyl record, 6 tracks from singles have been added. Highly recommended! -

A fantastic only album, released in 1971 (by United Artists), by a French formation singing mainly in English and playing thoroughbred, slightly psychedelic, rather dark progressive rock in the style of somewhat softened output of Jethro Tull, Van Der Graaf Generator, Procol Harum and early Genesis - with a touch of ballad. Attention! The 'thin' sounds of a storm at the beginning of track five are not the fault of the remastering, but of the poor form of the effects specialist, as on the vinyl it sounds just as poor... It is a very good and fairly easy-to-get-into album - sounding more like 1969-70 than 1971. In addition two unreleased instrumental recordings from French television are included. Top five of French rock! A MUST! -

A revelation! A reissue of the excellent, unfortunately only album by a completely unknown band from France. Made in the spring of 1971, the INSTRUMENTAL longplay belongs to my TOP 3 of French progressive rock. It is a musical orgy and heaven for the ears of all lovers of progressive, slightly jazzy and breathy playing with flute in the lead role (but also with electric guitar) à la sophisticated Jethro Tull of the period of the LPs "Stand Up" and "Benefit"! Released almost identically to the original (single, laminated sleeve), the vinyl does not contain even a moment of weakness! A few years ago I could not tear myself away from this music! Gripping playing - the kind we know from some old films from the turn of the 60s and 70s, showing music clubs or action scenes... Please listen to the music links! The vinyl, full of deep tones, sounds superb - just as well as the original from the Futura label worth 500 euros. A MUST! Condition: NEW, sealed. -

The debut LP "Nador", released in 1970, is simply superb! It has always been one of my favourite records from France! To tell the truth, nobody in France was probably playing heavy guitar rock at the time (with a mighty rhythm section and English vocals) in the vein of Led Zeppelin and The Who mixed with a few ballads. I am not counting the Hendrix-fascinated Chico Magnetic Band, because that was somewhat different playing. In any case this album is a real monster! In addition, twelve great bonus tracks - mainly from singles. A must! (JL) -

Excellent, progressive (or rather jazz-prog-rock) second album in the discography by one of the most popular French groups of that period. This album, released in 1970 (with a British vocalist), contains ten very dynamic tracks (with one exception) based above all on the sound of wind instruments (saxophone, flute), nice Hammond organ parts and quite sharp guitar. The whole resembles the recordings of Walrus, Hannibal, Colosseum and Chicago Transit Authority. One of the nicest records made on the Seine! Highly recommended! (K) -

Remastered version of the classic debut by the cult French formation, playing at that time bluesy, progressive rock with clear influences of psychedelia, soul, jazz, Hendrix and Zappa. Nice guitars, Hammond organ, violin (in the style of Family), a strong rhythm section, a jazzy brass section. It was one of the first rock albums released in France! Attention! This edition is based on the French vinyl from 1969, and NOT on the American compilation of the first two records - released in the same cover. Zoo's second album ("I Shall Be Free" from 1970) is excellent, jazzy, dynamic progressive rock with a British vocalist! I highly recommend both titles! (JL)
