A three-disc compilation from 2019. The first CD contains the album created in 1959 by the legendary producer Joe Meek with the group the Blue Men. At the time only an EP with four tracks was released; further releases were prevented by the producer's financial problems, and he died in 1967. Only in 1991 did the RPM label release the whole album, in a refreshed version. Here we find both the 1991 version and the original one from 1960. The remaining discs of the set contain recordings by pioneers of electronic music, including Pierre Boulez, Olivier Messiaen, Karlheinz Stockhausen, Edgard Varese, John Cage and Daphne Oram. -

Made in 1969, the album was a combination of guitar-driven psychedelic rock of the early Quicksilver kind with early raw prog rock of the Quintessence and East Of Eden kind (saxophone, flute, elements of oriental music). Alongside the delicate moods there is plenty of dense, improvised playing here! This album genuinely deserves to be rediscovered! Additionally five fantastic recordings made in 1968 (still under the name Action), but released only in 1985 on a mini LP. A must! (JL) -

The first (ever!) release of a very good album, recorded in 1969, by a British progressive band echoing the style of Procol Harum, Cressida and late The Beatles. Released in 1970 by EMI Parlophone, the collectable single "Hot Cinnamon/Cascades" was a commercial failure, so the label gave up on releasing the finished and fully mixed long-player. The sound quality is perfect! The CD additionally contains four live tracks, recorded for British TV in 1970. A must! (JL) -

Long, for the most part instrumental tracks very much resembling a somewhat heavier and more rock-oriented Colosseum! Can one ask for more in the case of old prog rock? Very tastefully presented Spanish reissue of the only album by an ephemeral, British heavy-progressive formation. Behind the pseudonym Monument hid the heavy rock group Zior (playing in their spare time for quick cash). Released originally in 1971 by the label Beacon, known from the first UFO records, the LP contained classic, largely instrumental, heavy prog rock with dominant Hammond sound - resembling the style of the formation Bram Stoker, and at moments also Rare Bird and Arzachel. Highly recommended! -

An excellent French limited vinyl, gathering superb studio recordings made for BBC radio in 1967-1969, that is, in the period of their most famous albums. Alongside exquisite versions of classics such as "Nights In White Satin", "Tuesday Afternoon" or "Peak Hour", the superb (pop-)psychedelic recordings from 1967 also deserve particular attention, such as "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood" (not released on any album), or "Love And Beauty", "Leave This Man Alone" and "Fly Me High", known from singles. One might venture to say that this is the best album by The Moody Blues ever released! Great sound quality, very good pressing and a beautiful, laminated sleeve! A must!
