This excellent album, released in spring 1969, was produced by Jimi Hendrix! More importantly, the brilliant guitarist appears on as many as 9 tracks, where he either played solo parts or embellished them in his own way. But even without Hendrix's involvement it would have been a great, psychedelic album (sometimes lighter, sometimes heavier...) combining nice, catchy melodies with professional performance - as befitted 1969. The 6-minute, almost epic "Mr. Guy Fawkes", meanwhile, is one of the best psychedelic pieces I have heard in my life! I find it a little hard to understand how such good material went almost completely unnoticed! Fans of Tomorrow, Pretty Things, Grapefruit (from the debut period) and of course the Jimi Hendrix Experience cannot function properly without this record! Excellent sound quality! A MUST! -

A four-record, British box set from Demon containing the catalogue album and three records with material previously published only on rare, expensive vinyl from the Tenth Planet label, from 1965-1969. Recorded in spring/summer 1968, but released only at the end of 1969, the LP "Introspection" (produced by Bill Wyman of the Rolling Stones) is one of the most important achievements of British psychedelia. The album belongs in the same league as records kept in a similar vein, such as The Zombies' "Odessey And Oracle", Small Faces' "Ogden's Nut Gone Flake", The Who's "Sell Out", or the sole album by the band Tomorrow. Afterwards the band transformed into Tucky Buzzard and recorded at least three great (and two weaker) albums! A must! (JL) -

The only, very good album by an American band combining heavy psychedelic rock with blues and sometimes a pinch of soul (e.g. female backing vocals). A two-disc (on orange vinyl) compilation by a legendary freakbeat/psychedelic British band, harking back to the style of The Who, Creation, Cream, and even Procol Harum. Besides several singles released under the band's name, it also contains tracks recorded under other names (Rupert's People, Chocolate Frog, Shyster), as well as two superb recordings with the vocalist Sharon Tandy. The group's bassist and occasional vocalist was Gordon Haskell. Two of the band's tracks ("Circles" and "Mud In Your Eye") appeared on the phenomenal box set "Nuggets Vol. 2" (Rhino). This is top-shelf playing! Highly recommended! -

Highly recommended! Complete with a very interesting (unfortunately single) insert with the history of the group and rare, coloured photos. We have the last two copies. -

The second album by a wonderful band from South Africa - now regarded by many collectors as an absolute masterpiece of mature, psych-progressive rock! The whole record is arranged as a kind of rock-psychedelic suite, full of original, dark sounds, frequent changes of mood and interesting instrumental parts (heavy guitars, strong Hammond organ tones) decorated with psychedelic effects. Limited reissue in a wonderful, fully laminated sleeve of an American classic worth over 700 euros in the original! Oh, how I adore this record! Top ten of American psych rock! Every track is wonderful, though they are only melodic, almost pop songs served in a dreamy, psychedelic sauce. But the effect is stunning! It is hardly surprising that the album has cult status and a very wide circle of sworn fans. The album was recorded in 1968, but Capitol did not release it until the beginning of 1969 - when the band no longer existed! The record sounds wonderful - dynamic and without any hiss - it beats the previous reissues, including the American Sundazed, hands down! A must! (JL) -

And although some of the tracks are very similar to one another, the record is genuinely charming. Plus two tracks from a nice single! Album new, sealed. -

The Gods are a truly important and charming, though still underrated British band with Ken Hensley, Paul Newton and Lee Kerslake - all three of whom later appeared in Uriah Heep! To all intents and purposes this debut album (recorded at Abbey Road and released in the autumn of 1968 by EMI Columbia) could well have been made under that name... as a psychedelic debut! Lots of Hammonds, nice guitars, Hensley's familiar vocals, quite a strong sound (Vanilla Fudge/Cream/Beatles), and at the same time plenty of thoroughbred, psychedelic moods straight out of "Sgt. Pepper", "Shades Of Deep Purple" or "Odessey And Oracle". All the recordings are interspersed with short sound collages that the musicians of Pink Floyd would not have been ashamed of! Well, it is worth discovering this album anew! -
