Recorded in 1971, but released at the beginning of 1972 by British CBS, the only album by an excellent band from Denmark playing heavy, progressive rock in the European style. This is an absolute masterpiece of the genre started by Cream and continued by Led Zeppelin, Free, Taste and the Swedish November. The English-sung record was dominated by a somewhat sleepy, psychedelic, yet at the same time heavy and clear sound with plenty of concise improvisations. There is no lack of a good pinch of blues and even sitar psychedelia - simply a very professional, thrilling and almost perfect record! Additionally 3 very good recordings from the recording session for the album are included, as well as 2 tracks from the ultra-rare single on the Spectator label (with the sleeve reproduced in the booklet) from 1970. NOTE! This CD contains the original, correct, vinyl mix from 1972 and not the remixed, partly cut material (additionally supplemented with a distinct reverb) once released by Karma Music. The only fragment from the remix is the final 2 minutes of the 10-minute-long track 'Lost In The Jungle', which are included. A MUST! Condition: New, sealed. (JL) -

Second album by an American formation playing quite heavy, bluesy and decidedly guitar-driven rock in the vein of a heavier Allman Brothers Band, Blackfoot, solo Eric Clapton and Gary Moore, though you can also hear echoes of Wishbone Ash (great playing for two lead guitars) and Uriah Heep. Generally, however, it is simply nice, solid rock playing without fireworks and frills. (JL) -

Remastered edition of the only album (recorded in 1971, but released in 1972 only in Germany by Metronome) by a very good British band playing heavy, dynamic rock (with organ) with progressive touches in the style of Uriah Heep, Deep Purple and Asterix. 80 minutes of music. The disc holds exactly all the recordings known from the old double version from the Second Battle label. Highly recommended! -

A long-awaited remastered version, from the Eclipse label, of the third and without a doubt best album, released in 1970, by an American band playing quite catchy but heavy psychedelic rock in the vein of Sir Lord Baltimore with a pinch of Vanilla Fudge. Apparently this is the first (and unfortunately last) record on which this once popular New York band rebelled against its manager (after otherwise good but too gentle achievements) and showed its true, rock face. In my opinion it is one of the nicest hard-rock, still slightly psychedelic albums from the States, from the turn of the 60s and 70s! A must! (JL) -

A hard-rock classic! This British, little-known band played dynamic, uncompromising, heavy rock with minimal glam influences à la Slade, and also blues. The record is very even, containing perhaps two calmer tracks - otherwise guitar-driven blasting that is a combination of the sounds of Black Sabbath, early Nazareth and early UFO. Released in the British Isles by the small Dart Records, the album had a different cover in every country! A replica of the original CD from Repertoire Records. A must! -

The first album by this cult band from Belgium is on the 'wish lists' of most vinyl collectors - reaching up to 3000 euros in perfect condition! Fortunately there is a CD (poor in terms of artwork) containing stunning, expressive material based on charming melodies, the interplay of heavy guitars and organ, and strong vocals. A five-disc box set containing the albums: Heavy (1968), In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida (1968), Ball (1969), Live (1970) and Metamorphosis (1970), released as card sleeves (mini LP) in a cardboard case. A classic set of psychedelic and heavy rock of the late 60s, from the debut Heavy to the later Metamorphosis. The biggest attraction is of course In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida, but Ball and the live Live also show superbly the band's characteristic, heavy and hypnotic sound. -

A fantastic debut album - released in 1969 by ABC Bluesway and one of the genuinely best titles from the American heavy rock circle (with psychedelic and progressive touches)! A classic trio, led at the start by guitarist Joe Walsh (the one who seven years later played the classic solo in "Hotel California" by The Eagles), with a strongly emphasised rhythm section, although the band also cared about catchy melodies... The record includes the 9-minute "Lost Woman" (from the repertoire of The Yardbirds) and the 12-minute, Cream-like "Stop". No weak spots! Additionally an unreleased, 8-minute live track from 1969! Excellent sound that beats the old, very poor BGO Records version. A must! (JL) -

It is actually hard to believe that this superb material from 1970 has practically never had a decent CD version - apart from a poor, crackly, dull edition from the late 90s! The only LP by the American group Jamul (once sold in a fairly impressive run of 75,000 copies) is very energetic, strongly sung and very 'angry' heavy rock with elements of blues (e.g. harmonica), played on overdriven guitars, with the help of a mighty rhythm section. This record has the best version of "Tobacco Road" known to me, while "Long Tall Sally" and "Jumpin' Jack Flash" have been reworked in a genuinely original way. This is a record that will delight fans of playing in the vein of Euclid, Yesterday's Children, Frantic and very early Steppenwolf! Excellent sound quality! Highly recommended! (JL) -

In the very beginning there was the psychedelic Israeli formation Churchills (with an excellent LP from 1968, worth over 3000 euros in the original), then in 1971 the musicians (with a British vocalist/guitarist) went to the British Isles, changed their name to Jericho Jones and released a classic, truly great hard rock album. Right after that they shortened the name to Jericho and as a result in 1972 one of the best heavy-progressive albums in the history of rock was made! This album, released by A&M (and completely ignored in its day), is real guitar dynamite! This excellent record was filled with five tracks (three of them lasting between 8 and 11 minutes) on the border of heavy rock and typical British progression (without keyboards) - with occasional entries of flute or acoustic guitar - somewhat in the style of the sorely missed T2. To tell the truth, it is hard to find in British rock a record as intense as Jericho! Forget Leaf Hound, Jerusalem or Incredible Hog... Neither Budgie, nor Led Zeppelin, nor even Black Sabbath ever rocked as hard as the opening track "Ethiopia"! I admit that I once did not rate this album as highly as I do now. At present it is for me a hard rock top twenty of all time! Plus two tracks from the last single. A MUST! -

Interestingly, the next album was recorded under the name Jericho... In any case, this record, made in Great Britain, contained a slab of great, classic and very pedigree hard-rock (with progressive elements) in the vein of Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin and Three Man Army. British edition of the only, but superb, album, once released by Deram, by a British heavy rock band playing in the style of Black Sabbath, Budgie and Clear Blue Sky - produced by Ian Gillan! No organs, just guitar riffs and crushing (usually slow) playing! Unfortunately the Purple vocalist did not especially shine and the somewhat muffled production is the only flaw of this truly classic and very heavy-sounding record! Plus five tracks, including four recorded in 2009. A must! (JL) -
