Lovers of early Rush (from the period of the first two records) and Pavlov's Dog (debut) will certainly not be disappointed! Two albums (1976/1978) by an American hard rock formation on a single CD. On the first record, from 1976, the band played heavy rock with slight psychedelic influences - as in the early 70s! You can hear echoes of very early Rush, Granicus and Sir Lord Baltimore. A great and very underrated album! The second, heavier (but in my opinion slightly weaker) record harked back almost to the proto-metal style known from records by Moxy, Yesterday And Today and Teaze. A real treat for hard rock fans! Highly recommended! -

A legend! Released in 1971 in a run of... 99 copies, the only album by an excellent, unfortunately totally forgotten, London band playing guitar-driven, heavy progressive rock with occasional, acoustic-folky moments (with Hammond organ in the last track and occasional flute) in the vein of T2 and Wishbone Ash. Splendid compositions based on catchy riffs, a nice vocal, good drumming and quite professional production. Original vinyls practically do not exist and copies fetch 4000-5000 euros! This is probably the best British 'private press' - in my opinion surpassing in the quality of its playing the album by the group Dark (1972)! This band would certainly have shone on a progressive label (like Vertigo or Harvest), but it broke up when all its equipment was stolen... This is an absolutely essential item at which every true fan of old playing will howl with joy! A MUST! Condition: New, sealed. (JL) -

A superb album from the former Yugoslavia, on a par with the debuts of Time and Yu Grupa, and beating, for example, Bijelo Dugme! Airy guitar, quite heavy (though at moments somewhat Wishbone Ash-like) playing with elements of prog-rock - decidedly in the British style and sounding more like 1971 than 1974! The Yugoslav vocals are very decent - somewhat hidden behind the instruments they sound almost English... Highly recommended! (JL) -

Unreleased, live material recorded in 1973 - still before the only official album. Raw, but very energetic, heavy-rock playing with a bluesy feel. This 74-minute CD contains a very nice, somewhat raw but highly enjoyable recording of a performance from Switzerland in 1973 and a 30-minute fragment of a concert from Nottingham, recorded in the same year, technically minimally poorer. Recommended! -

Unreleased material from before the debut record. The digipak is a collection of 15 rare, quite professional recordings from 1969-1972 showing the group from a much stronger side than on their only official LP 'Up The Hardway' (1974) and, on top of that, not shying away from instrumental parts. What a pity that Hackensack did not record an album in 1970, or even in 1972! Recommended! -

These are the studio albums: "Bangkok Shocks, Saigon Shakes, Hanoi Rocks" from 1981, "Oriental Beat" from 1982 and "Back To Mystery City" from 1983, as well as the live "All Those Wasted Years" recorded in December 1983 at the Marquee club in London and "Self Destruction Blues", counted among the studio albums but really a compilation of single tracks from 1980-1982. The whole thing in a rigid box. Highly recommended! (MU) -

Hard Stuff was a British supergroup formed by former members of Atomic Rooster (guitar and drums) and Quatermass (bass). The debut contained heavy, simple, hard rock playing in the vein (stripped of progressive touches) of Purple and Leaf Hound. Highly recommended! (JL) -

A great, but unfortunately only album by an ephemeral British band, behind whose name lay simply Ken Hensley and The Gods! The LP "Orgasm" was made just before the break-up of The Gods and right before the formation of the group Toe Fat. The band sounded almost identical to Uriah Heep from the period of the first album, that is, it was heavy organ-and-guitar sweeping + two ballads. A British reissue in a digipak, from 2020, to mark the 50th anniversary of the record's release. The booklet contains notes from the producer David Paramor, who approved this reissue, as well as new comments from Ken Hensley, Lee Kerslake and Brian Glascock. Definitely recommended! -

A forgotten, hard-progressive rock classic from the USA! Released in 1974 in a small run at the band's own expense, the album is known and valued among die-hard fans of old rock, but it is worth stressing that the quality of the music goes hand in hand with the legend. Worth around 300 euros in the original, the album is generally filled with intense, guitar-and-organ playing in the style of a less commercial-sounding and slightly unpolished (as is the case with so-called private pressings) Deep Purple from 1972, although perhaps better reference points would be bands such as Dionysos, Bull Angus or Felt. The opening 8-and-a-half-minute title track is worth every penny to a collector of progressive rock records, because you can't tear yourself away from it and I think more than one rock star would give a lot to have composed it!! The rest of the recordings also 'deliver' and it's really worth investing in this title! Additionally included are four nice recordings from two singles from 1974-1975. Highly recommended!
