A great, hard-rock classic (once released by Decca) recorded by musicians who a little earlier (also in 1970) played under the banner of Electric Food, and a few months later (already with vocalist John Lawton - later in Uriah Heep) changed their name to Lucifer's Friend. Heavy, guitar riffs; a solid rhythm section, occasional keyboards - the whole thing sounds like a high-octane version of the Uriah Heep debut with a touch of Deep Purple. Every fan of the first two LF albums will adore this album! Additionally two tracks from a rare single. Highly recommended! (JL) -

A limited European reissue, awaited on CD for over 20 years, of the only album, from 1976, by an Italian hard-progressive band playing in the style of classic Deep Purple, the debut of Jane, Satin Whale and early Beggars Opera. The album contains seven tracks sung in Italian (though there are few vocals), lasting from 5 to 11 minutes and built on the interplay of organ and pleasantly overdriven guitar. The whole thing sounds decidedly more like 1974 than 1976. This competently arranged album, full of catchy compositions, will delight all fans of the genre! The band consisted of... four brothers, and the whole thing was created in Germany, where the Sanseverino family lived. This powerful album came out as a private pressing limited to 500 copies and today is worth around 500 euros! A must! (JL) -

A limited European CD, lasting 78 minutes, containing radio recordings by one of the best British hard rock bands of the early 70s. Above all the disc contains five recordings in excellent quality, recorded for BBC radio in 1970-1971 (including two tracks with the line-up with Carl Palmer and John Cann). Note! The BBC recordings sound right for the first time, because it turned out that the earlier versions (released, among others, on the Hux CD "Devil's Answer" and as bonus tracks on the reissues of the first two CDs on Sanctuary) sounded decidedly too slow (several of them can be found on YouTube for comparison) - so slow that they were unlistenable! Now all of the first five compositions sound excellent! In addition, the CD contains six tracks (including the 13-minute "I Can't Take No More") also recorded live (1970-1971) in the studio for TV Bremen - also with perfect sound. Finally, three recordings from a concert for BBC radio from 1970 have been added (still with Carl Palmer), in slightly worse but acceptable quality. From start to finish this is a wonderful record - as good as (if not better than) the classic "Death Walks Behind You"! A must! Condition: New, sealed. (JL) -

A revelation! Released in Argentina in 1974 by the small Promusica label, this truly excellent debut album by a progressive Argentinian band (worth 500 euros on vinyl in mint condition) featured the classically tinged sound of the Hammond organ and juicy, rather heavy parts for TWO guitars in the foreground. This is world-class playing (in the European manner) - a bit like Deep Purple mixed with Beggars Opera and Focus, and with early Wishbone Ash! At times it is hard to believe how good this music is! In my opinion it is one of the three best progressive albums from South America! A MUST! (JL) -

Avenger was founded by former members of the band Blitzkrieg. In 1982 their first demo track, "Hot 'N' Heavy Express", ended up on Neat Records' compilation "One Take No Dubs (Live In The Studio)". A year later, through the same label, the debut single "Too Wild To Tame" was released. Shortly after, the vocalist Brian Ross left for the band Satan, while Ian Swift went the other way and with him in the line-up Avenger released their debut LP, "Blood Sports", in 1984. The second album, "Killer Elite", came out a year later, and the band went on a tour of the USA. Unfortunately, right after it Avenger broke up. Ian Swift joined Atomkraft, and the drummer Gary Young joined the meanwhile reactivated Blitzkrieg. The band's music is classic, heavy, British hammering with occasional accelerations. CD1 is the debut album "Blood Sports" from 1984, CD2 - its successor "Killer Elite" from 1985, and CD3 contains tracks from the concert on 3 March 1986, at the L'Amour club in Brooklyn. Bonus tracks are added to both studio records. Highly recommended! -

This two-disc CD could easily be called "Live At The BBC Vol. 3". The limited discs, released in a stunning sleeve and lasting two hours (minus two minutes), collect 53 recordings - including versions previously unreleased on the official "Live At The BBC" (1994) and "On Air - Live At The BBC Vol. 2" (2013). The discs also contain tracks omitted on earlier Apple releases: "I Call Your Name", "I Should Have Known Better" and "The Night Before". In addition you can hear six recordings (in very average quality, but it's something...) performed live for BBC radio, in Manchester in 1962 - still with Pete Best (including "Dream Baby", "A Picture Of You", "Memphis Tennessee" and "Besame Mucho")! Generally the vast majority of the recordings are in perfect or very good sound quality! As far as I know, all the recordings have been corrected for tape speed, carefully denoised and improved as far as possible compared with the versions circulating among fans. I have listened to this record about twenty times and still can't get enough! AN ABSOLUTE MUST! Condition: New, sealed. (JL) -

An album lasting nearly 80 minutes, splendid and priceless from the historical point of view, containing a unique performance by The Beatles (with Ringo Starr on drums) recorded at the legendary Hamburg club in the last week of December 1962. With the EMI-released single "Love Me Do" already to their name, the band had to play/work off performances contracted long before, and it is a musical delight for every fan of the Fab Four! Besides several tracks known even from the LP "Please Please Me", recorded a month later, the group performed a good many pop and rock and roll standards. The sound quality is very good (slightly better than on the original discs, first released in 1977), though not perfect, but everything can be heard excellently! The CD contains the unreleased, almost manic "My Girl Is Red Hot", as well as (as a bonus) "Money" performed by King Size Taylor And The Dominoes, the group accompanying the Beatles. The record will probably never be officially released, because, as a result of years of action by The Beatles, a court ruling withdrew it from the music market. A must! Condition: New, sealed. (JL) -

A six-disc set containing an anthology of the British hard rock band, led by the drummer Cozy Powell and the guitarist Dave Ball (later in Procol Harum). The first two CDs contain the band's only album, in a 2023 mix (+ two bonus tracks) and in the original. The next discs are a recording of a performance in London, on 22 October 1973 (with the addition of Powell's solo track "Dance With The Devil", recorded live on American television in 1974) and in Binghamton in New York State, in 1974. The fifth CD contains a performance by the band Big Bertha, that is the earlier incarnation of Bedlam (without the vocalist Frank Aiello), from 3 December 1970, from Hamburg. The last disc of the set contains demo tracks and singles from 1968-1970, on which all the band's instrumentalists played, that is Cozy Powell and the brothers Dave and Denny Ball. The whole thing in a rigid box, with a 28-page booklet inside. Highly recommended! (MU) -

A limited European CD, lasting 76 minutes, containing a concert from Copenhagen from April 1971 (47 minutes). In addition, an excellent 20-minute fragment of a performance from Sheffield, England, from January 1971 (alongside a very early version of the rare "Into The Void" with an early lyric, also containing the only known performance of "After Forever"), as well as an 11-minute "Wicked World" from Copenhagen from December 1970. Unlike several recordings from 1970, there is not a single great-sounding Sabbath concert from 1971, but Copenhagen without doubt sounds the best! The sound quality is really good! Not perfect, but for a 1971 'audience recording' - no complaints! A slightly worse-sounding and somewhat slowed-down version circulates on the internet. This one is much better (more treble) and with corrected speed! Highly recommended! Condition: New, sealed. (JL) -

Released in an attractive sleeve, limited to 500 copies, a European 80-minute CD containing a very early (recorded two months after the release of the debut), full Black Sabbath performance from Lausanne in Switzerland, professionally recorded by a club employee. The sound quality is great, though not ideal (with slight distortion here and there...). The biggest attraction of this CD is the ONLY KNOWN LIVE INTERPRETATION of the track "Sleeping Village" and a 32-minute version of the legendary "Warning". The disc also contains a superb cover of Eddie Boyd's "Blue Coat Men", played by the band at the time (in the style of very fast, early Ten Years After); an early version of "War Pigs" (with unfinished lyrics) and an early version of "Black Sabbath" extended by four minutes (with the legendary third verse). The quality of the remastered CD is much better than the muffled sound on YouTube. An absolute must! -
