BUDGIE - BUDGIE - Best Of (1973-75) - EU Edition - LAST COPY - LISTEN
Excellent 70-minute British compilation featuring selected material from the band's three albums, from their third in the discography, "Never Turn Your Back On A Friend", to the fifth LP, "Bandolier". It's just a shame that there are no tracks here from the first two LPs, not even a few... Even so, this CD is an excellent introduction to the work of this criminally underrated Welsh band. A must! CEREBRUM - CEREBRUM - Eagle Death - Unreleased Album - GER Shadoks 1st Limited Press - LISTEN
I have known the heavy, uncompromising rock band Cerebrum for about 20 years, ever since I bought a double CD in a shop in Majorca that collected 3 bands that once recorded for the Spanish label Dimension-Ekipo: the only LP by the group Pan Y Regaliz (brilliant!), the only album by the German band Evolution (very good) and 2 excellent singles by the aforementioned Cerebrum. Years later the 4 single tracks appeared on vinyl on the Wah-Wah label, and now, at last, Shadoks has prepared a surprise, combining 3 tracks from the singles with a 5-track session from 1969 recorded for local radio (in very good, though not perfect, quality) and a much longer version of the single "Eagle Death"! The music is very dynamic, guitar-driven, strongly psychedelic and full of mood changes; at times it seems that two bands are playing at once! Highly recommended! -
CHELLED, RA’ANAN - RA'ANAN CHELLED - W bocznej ulicy - Historia muzyki niegranej 1968-1976 (100 zespołów + 4 polskie) - redakcja merytoryczna Jacek Leśniewski - OBEJRZYJ PROGRAM TV
Hardback, 556 pages. A very good book (in a specially designed, attractive cover!) by a young music fan from Israel, who decided to describe 100 of his favourite, little-known artists/bands active in the years 1968-1976, from all over the world (most of them from the States), from the realm of fairly heavy psychedelic and progressive rock with folk and blues touches. In addition, by special order the author described 4 selected titles from Poland! The book contains black-and-white reproductions of most of the record sleeves, as well as concert adverts and rare clippings from the newspapers of the time (somewhat in the manner of the book 'Galactic Ramble'). So this is a perfect item for Megadisc customers, as this is exactly the kind of records we have been promoting and selling since 1991! Megadisc also has a certain stake in the making of this book, as some time ago I undertook the editorial supervision of this unique publication. A must! Happy reading! Jacek Leśniewski. P.S. Below is a link to the 15-minute programme 'CHiP', featuring a conversation between Wojciech Chmielewski and the undersigned, broadcast on TVP3 (there is an advert at the beginning...) on 6 June 2019. DEEP PURPLE - DEEP PURPLE - Anthology (2LP) - UK EMI Harvest 1985 PURPLE VINYL 1st Press - NEAR MINT VINTAGE VINYL
ANALOGUE SOUND! LIMITED EDITION ON PURPLE VINYL, from 1985! An extremely rare first (and only) release of this excellent double compilation from Harvest (not to be confused with the three-LP compilation from 1991), combining the most popular recordings with a good deal of rare or previously unreleased material, including "Shadows" (1968), the instrumental "Love Help Me" (1968), "Hallelujah" (1969), "Freedom" (1971), "Grabsplatter" (1970), "Coronarias Redig" (1974) and "When A Blind Man Cries" (1972)! This is probably the most attractive (and truly rare) Deep Purple compilation, and what's more, it has never been reissued on CD! An absolute must for every Deep Purple fan! The condition of everything is like something from a time machine! Sleeve: MINT / Records: MINT/MINT -

DEEP PURPLE - DEEP PURPLE - New, Live & Rare - Official Archive Collection (1969-71) - UNIKALNY CD
Released by Purple Records, this British compilation collects rare live recordings (including some from rare bootlegs) and television performances by the band's most famous line-up, the second one, with Gillan and Glover. Particularly noteworthy are the superbly recorded Wring That Neck (August 1969) from Amsterdam and an alternative studio version of Black Night. The CD is worth owning for the 9-minute live version of Demon's Eye alone, recorded in 1971 during the American tour. It is a track the band very rarely played live. The sound quality is very good, though not always perfect (half and half). In addition, there is a very attractive booklet with plenty of interesting photos and notes. An absolute must for Deep Purple fans! ONLY ONE COPY! New, sealed. -

A beautifully produced compilation featuring 7 previously unreleased recordings by this excellent Italian band. 3 recordings, totalling 15 minutes, date from 1998, while the remaining half hour is filled by four unknown compositions from 1969-73, and for those alone this LP is worth buying! The first track on the record, "Il Volto Stanco Della Gente", was recorded back when the band were still called Gleemen! A beautiful, triple-fold and very psychedelic sleeve. Recommended! -

INDIAN SUMMER - INDIAN SUMMER - Rare Live And Studio Tracks 1970-1971 - FRA On The Air Edition - VERY RARE
Limited CD with unreleased studio and live material from the time of the only album by this wonderful progressive band! When 20 years ago I wrote for 'Tylko Rock' a summary of the 40 best progressive/lesser-known albums in my opinion (the so-called 'Parszywa czterdziestka'), Indian Summer's record (1971) took first place there! Incidentally, I still recommend it warmly to this day!!! Unfortunately, the band never recorded anything else, and nothing suggested that any unknown IS music would ever see the light of day! Well... In 2016 Record Collector magazine (once a genuine Bible for record collectors), in cooperation with one of the musicians, put together a double album limited to 500 copies (in a hideously garish cover) containing unreleased archive material and a great many paper archive items! Among other things, four excellent, professional studio recordings from 1970 (including three compositions that did not appear on the catalogue LP), a rejected track from the album sessions, and a very nice, though rather raw, 55-minute concert from December 1970 containing material from the whole album (minus one track), with two recordings extended to 10 minutes! Everything would have been great, the problem is that the performance recorded by the band (of quite good quality) was copied 'one to one' and nobody noticed that the whole thing sounds too slow (a typical problem with recordings from the 60s and 70s) and runs 2 minutes longer! The same tiresome, sloooow mix was repeated a few months later on a Japanese CD. Once again it turned out that they care only about the paper artwork there, and couldn't care less about the quality of the music itself... In any case, this On The Air CD contains the five studio recordings mentioned and the entire performance - AT THE CORRECT SPEED. On top of that, the parameters have been tweaked a little and the concert sounds much clearer and cleaner, although for technical reasons the first two recordings have no vocals... This is an absolute must for all fans of the band and of British prog rock! -

LUNDBORG, PATRICK - PATRICK LUNDBORG - Acid Archives (2nd Updated Edition) - Ultimate Guide To US Underground Sounds (1965-1982) - Expanded And Revised 2nd Edition - 400 Full Color Pages - LAST COPY! - LISTEN
NOTE! OUT OF PRINT! LAST COPY! This is an excellent book (a record guide) and a real treasure trove of knowledge devoted to 5000 little-known (or completely forgotten) records from the American/Canadian psychedelic/progressive/heavy rock scene (as well as folk, blues, garage and so on), mainly from 1965-1972 but also covering rare titles (sometimes even from the early metal scene) up to 1982! So you will not find reviews of albums by The Doors, Jefferson Airplane or Kansas here. Even Electric Prunes and The Standells are missing, while Chocolate Watchband and 13th Floor Elevators are in! Of course, this book is aimed not only at complete maniacs (for example those who collect only local folk records issued in 20 copies), and at the same time it contains plenty of great artists/titles well known to collectors, released on CD by Akarma, Gear Fab or other American labels, and sold at Megadisc for years! As a consolation, I will add that better-known American artists appear in the recently published book "Endless Trip" (written by people associated with Galactic Ramble), so the two titles complement each other perfectly! When the first edition of "Acid Archives" appeared in 2006, it sold out practically instantly, and until recently single copies were fetching prices of 200 dollars on the Internet! The current version, published in autumn 2010, has been updated, slightly expanded and, above all, printed in colour! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! -
