The last two catalogue records by a legend of American heavy playing! The LP "Passage", released in 1972, is a slab of almost progressive (Hammond, Moog, flute) and very competent playing - resembling a little the earliest, but somewhat heavier, work of Kansas. This CD is worth having for this album alone! The later "Whirlwind Tongues" contained simple, somewhat heavy rock - nothing worth attention. Even so I highly recommend it to all lovers of the earlier five Bloodrock albums! -

Dating from 1970 and released then by MGM Records, the only album by a psychedelic American formation in which Sigmund Snopek (known from the progressive album "Virginia Woolf", released two years later) played keyboards, while the vocals were handled by a man with an equally familiar-sounding (to us) surname, Jon Wyderka! This album, still very underrated, contains eleven excellent tracks (averaging 3-4 minutes) based on the sound of organ and heavyish, fuzzed guitar and resembling the output of early The Nice, The Doors, Love, and also the Moody Blues! In addition three bonus tracks from very rare singles. -

I love this album! Released 'only' in 1979, but sounding much earlier (1973-74), the Spaniards' second album contained a very impressive and soulful portion of progressive rock based on a strong vocal, sobbing or heavily riff-driven guitar parts and of course a battery of keyboards - almost identical in form to the offerings of some Italian formations such as Biglietto per l'Inferno, P.F.M. or Museo Rosenbach - with a touch of the style of Pink Floyd and early Camel. I stress that Spanish progressive bands were heavily 'delayed' (including Lisker, Nu, Leno) and the date 1979 can safely be treated as nominal. I write this because at that time rather dreadful things were being made in the progressive world, but in General Franco's country time flowed differently, more slowly. As with all records from this label - excellent sound quality, mastered from the original vinyl! A must! -

Released in 1980, the third, excellent album by a Spanish progressive formation, known, among others, for the superb second CD "Hombre, tierra y alma" from 1979. The third is in an almost identical mood - you can hear a clear fascination with Italian progressive rock (Biglietto per l'Inferno or Quella Vecchia Locanda), as well as melodies resembling the best recordings of Kansas. A limited, very good-sounding (much better than most of the old versions) edition of the great third album, released in March 1969, by the cult American heavy rock band. This album is important in that while the first part of the record is very nice, almost Quicksilver-like, the whole second side, recorded still as a trio, was composed (and played) by the brilliant guitarist Randy Holden - known to die-hard fans of Sabbath/Hendrix-style guitar playing from the excellent LP "Population II" (1970)! I confess this is my favourite Blue Cheer album, and Holden's two longer tracks, lasting 14 minutes together, are almost the world championship of slightly bluesy, psychedelic playing!
