ANALOGUE SOUND! The first American edition (from 1977) of the third album by a once popular progressive band. Without doubt it was still inspired (also in the vocals - the singer sounded uncannily like Jon Anderson) by the work of Yes and in part Kansas and Rush, although the tracks were somewhat shorter (only one lasted 7 minutes), and the music itself became somewhat less varied, more rhythmic, though still decidedly progressive. The second album by a once popular American progressive band recording for Epic Records. Released in 1977 and regarded as the best of the band's career, the album was without doubt inspired (also in the vocals - the vocalist uncannily resembled Jon Anderson) by the work of Yes (especially "Tales From Topographic Oceans", but without the psychedelic touches, and "Going For The One") and to a degree Kansas and Rush. It is a record that will delight fans of symphonic rock that is well produced and polished to the smallest detail. Recommended! -

OUT OF PRINT! LAST COPIES! Superb, 60-minute material released on vinyl for the first time - in a very attractive, laminated sleeve with great photos of the band. Recorded live in the studio (with minor overdubs), the band sounded better than on the early records. The first side is a slab of underrated, exquisite, melodic soft-psychedelic rock, while the second side is much heavier material close to the aesthetics of hard rock. It goes down in one breath, but you have to like the music of the late 60s... All the recordings sound perfect. Excellent two-disc CD containing 32 recordings by the band made in studios or on stage for BBC stations in 1966-2005. 2 tracks were made still under the name The Spectres, while among the compositions recorded in the pop-psychedelic period (1967-1969) there are many that did not make it onto the main albums. For me the hard-progressive tracks from 1970-73 came off spectacularly - including an excellent concert from March 1973 promoting the LP Piledriver released at the time. Recommended! -

A great, two-disc compilation of 28 recordings concentrating on the band's very early period (1968-1971) — before it became a symbol of boogie rock and hard rock of the 70s. The material presented here will surprise people who know Status Quo only from later hits such as 'Roll Over Lay Down', 'Rockin’ All Over The World' or 'Whatever You Want'. The hit 'Pictures Of Matchstick Men' is classic, almost Beatles-like psych-pop-rock — fuzzy guitars, psychedelic effects and a very catchy melody. In "Ice In The Sun" or "Technicolor Dreams" you can again hear the influence of British psychedelia of the The Move kind or early Pink Floyd. At the same time, in the recordings after 1969 more raw, riff-driven playing was already beginning to appear, which later became the band's trademark. It is a great document of Status Quo's transformation from a psychedelic beat band into a full-blooded boogie-rock group (inspired by The Doors from the period of the LP 'Morrison Hotel' and the forgotten Steamhammer) - still penniless. A two-disc BMG edition in a digipak. -

One of the best British bands. Every album was different. The first - classic white blues, "MKII" - a bit of blues with elements of jazz, psychedelia and folk - wonderful material, "Mountains" marked a return to bluesy roots in rock style, while "Speech" is hard rock sweeping in the style of Armageddon (UK, 1975), enriched with psychedelic flights. A new, limited, European edition of this fantastic album! Steel Mill is an English band which in December 1971 recorded one of the most charming and at the same time intense records in the history of British progressive rock - originally released in Germany in spring 1972 (in a black sleeve by Bellaphon/Penny Farthing), and only in 1975 in Britain (in a sleeve with a green background). Real rock underground, that is "everything thrown together". Elements of heavy rock, jazz, folk and blues cross in dynamic instrumental parts. The album is a veritable model example of how a group unknown to anybody can make an album no worse than those we have loved for several decades! Steel Mill's music has accompanied me almost forever and still 'gets me going'! The band struck an almost ideal balance between folk-jazz-rock (saxophone, flute) and heavy guitar playing based on catchy riffs. Full of verve, yet at the same time ephemeral, the music never bores, above all thanks to its catchy melodies and very skilful handling of mood. The record was released in a unique, gatefold sleeve, and additionally 2 tracks from the singles released alongside the record are included. An absolute must! Condition: NEW (JL) -
