WILLIAMS, TONY -LIFETIME- (see also: Miles Davis / Herbie Hancock / Jack Bruce) - TONY WILLIAMS LIFETIME - Turn It Over - UK Esoteric Remastered Edition - LISTENprice: 70,00 PLN / 17,50 EUR
Released in 1970 by Polydor, the legendary album by American drummer Tony Williams (or perhaps the group Tony Williams Lifetime) recorded in a superb line-up! Alongside the leader the record featured Jack Bruce, guitarist and leader of the MAHAVISHNU ORCHESTRA John McLaughlin and organist Larry Young! Nice, lively, improvised, jazz-rock playing based on the excellent playing of all the instrumentalists. Excellent, dynamic and at times truly sharp guitar parts by McLaughlin, Bruce's perfect (as always) bass, the leader's very dense drumming and nice keyboard parts. It was a groundbreaking album (like the first LP Emergency!) having an enormous influence on future bands from the fusion circle. Remastered British Esoteric edition with one bonus track taken from a single. ATTENTION! The album Emergency! (1969) came out in the same edition as well. Definitely recommended! (K) -

WINTER, JOHNNY - JOHNNY WINTER - Second Winter (2LP) - UK CBS ('orange') 1970 1st Press - NEAR MINT VINTAGE VINYLprice: 300,00 PLN / 75,00 EUR
ANALOGUE SOUND! A very rare first British edition (from 1970) of the excellent, two-record, classic album by the elder of the Winter brothers. Despite the misleading title, it was the guitarist's third album, because "Progressive Blues Experiment" (Imperial, 1968) came out before the LP "Johnny Winter" (Columbia, 1969). WISHBONE ASH - WISHBONE ASH - First Lights - April 1970 - May 1971 Studio Sessions - FRA Verne Press - LISTEN - VERY RAREprice: 110,00 PLN / 27,50 EUR
A beautifully released (in a laminated sleeve with nice photographs from the earliest period), superb vinyl edition from the Verne label of the band's first, 40-minute professional recording session, recorded for MCA in the spring of 1970, that is, a few months before the recording of the LP "Wishbone Ash", and found after many years on a so-called Apple label acetate! Five recordings later ended up in changed versions on the re-recorded debut, two are completely unknown, plus the one known from the LP "Pilgrimage" (the short, instrumental "Alone") - here in a charming, somewhat more expansive version with vocals. Additionally two recordings from the sessions for "Pilgrimage" (May 1971) are included: "Where Were You Tomorrow" (studio version!) and the over 6-minute, genuinely wonderfully played "Alone" with vocals! The sound quality is ideal, and the 52-minute black vinyl is perfectly pressed, and also sounds somewhat better and cleaner (without the slight hiss from the acetate) than the CD version ("First Light") and much better than the earlier version from 10 years ago! A MUST! Condition: NEW, sealed. -

YANAGIDA, HIRO (see also: Food Brain / Apryl Fool) - HIRO YANAGIDA - Milk Time - EU Prog Gems Limited Edition - VERY RARE - LISTENprice: 55,00 PLN / 13,75 EUR
This is one of literally a few best rock records made in Japan in the early 70s! The debut of this Japanese keyboardist, released at the end of 1970 (recorded with, among others, members of Speed Glue & Shinki and Flied Egg), is genuinely very varied music (from heavy, thrilling rock to early fusion to classical-leaning, delicate miniatures) based as a rule on the sound of the Hammond organ, the virtuoso, melodic, yet warm sound of the violin and the heavy, at times strongly overdriven guitar of the excellent Kimio Mizutani (playing a little in the style of Can's guitarist), but there is also the sound of violin and even harpsichord. This entirely instrumental album (worth 1000-1200 dollars in the ultra-rare original on the Liberty label) is simply thrilling, although it goes down even better after several listens! And that splendid sleeve (with a copy of the original insert reproduced inside a gatefold booklet)... Great, clear sound - slightly better than on earlier editions! A must! Condition: New, sealed. YANAGIDA, HIRO (see also: Food Brain / Apryl Fool) - HIRO YANAGIDA - Milk Time - FRA Absinthe Limited Press - LISTEN - VERY RAREprice: 110,00 PLN / 27,50 EUR
This is one of literally a handful of the best rock records made in Japan in the early 70s! Released at the end of 1970, the debut by this Japanese keyboard player (recorded with, among others, members of Speed Glue & Shinki and Flied Egg) is genuinely very varied music (from heavy, thrilling rock through early fusion to classicising, delicate miniatures) based, as a rule, on the sound of the Hammond organ, the virtuosic, melodic but warm sound of the violin and the heavy, at times strongly overdriven guitar of the great Kimio Mizutani (playing a little in the style of Can's guitarist), but the sound of the violin and even the harpsichord also appears. This entirely instrumental album (worth 1000-1200 dollars on the mega-rare original from Liberty) is simply thrilling, although it goes down even better after several listens! And that superb cover with a copy of the original insert reproduced inside the gatefold sleeve... A must! -

YES - YES - Looking Around - A Collection Of Rare Live Tracks 1969-1970 - FRA Verne Limited Press - LISTEN - VERY RAREprice: 110,00 PLN / 27,50 EUR
Released in an attractive sleeve, a single French vinyl limited to 500 copies, being a nearly hour-long and truly excellent compilation of very rare, unique live recordings by the band from its earliest period - recorded during the period of the first two albums, between the autumn of 1969 and the summer of 1970 - with the guitarist Peter Banks, the keyboard player Tony Kaye and Bill Bruford on drums. The album contains three recordings from the Beat-Club programme, from November 1969, a live version of the rare, excellent single "Something's Coming" from August 1969 and a half-hour performance from Cologne, from April 1970 - recorded just before the departure of the band's original guitarist. This performance sounds much better than the material on YouTube (link below), and was also sped up slightly - to the original tape speed. The sound quality is very good, or ideal, and the black vinyl is perfectly pressed! A must! Condition: NEW, unsealed. -

ANALOGUE SOUND! Very rare first American pressing (from 1970, on the dark green Warner Bros. label) of a very good live album by a legend of the American psychedelic scene. The band played in the vein of Jefferson Airplane and (more so) the Grateful Dead. Both this album and the slightly more rock-oriented "Ride The Wind", released a year later, were recorded during the same performances. Sleeve: EXCELLENT / Record: MINT- -

ZOO (French prog) - ZOO - I Shall Be Free - AUT Remastered - LISTEN - VERY RAREprice: 60,00 PLN / 15,00 EUR
Excellent, progressive (or rather jazz-prog-rock) second album in the discography by one of the most popular French groups of that period. This album, released in 1970 (with a British vocalist), contains ten very dynamic tracks (with one exception) based above all on the sound of wind instruments (saxophone, flute), nice Hammond organ parts and quite sharp guitar. The whole resembles the recordings of Walrus, Hannibal, Colosseum and Chicago Transit Authority. One of the nicest records made on the Seine! Highly recommended! (K) -
CD
ZOO (French prog) - ZOO - Zoo (1970 US Compilation) - KOR Big Pink Card Sleeve Editionprice: 120,00 PLN / 30,00 EUR
A compilation released in the USA, containing tracks from the first two albums ("Zoo" from 1969 and "I Shall Be Free" from 1970) by the French band. Zoo's music is very dynamic playing based above all on the sound of wind instruments (saxophone, flute), nice Hammond organ parts and quite sharp guitar. Something in the style of Walrus, Hannibal, Colosseum and Chicago Transit Authority. The cover is the same as the one from the debut, which often causes confusion. A South Korean edition in a paper sleeve, from 2020. Highly recommended! (JL)
