This is one of my favourite unknown British albums of the late 60s! The only, almost progressive record by a British trio combined elements of early, experimental hard-rock in the vein of Cream and Andromeda with delicate vocals and mellotron sounds. Almost all the tracks ran for under four minutes, but that did not matter at all! It was all closed by an excellent, 10-minute version of "Making Time" from the repertoire of Creation, whom I adore. The first-ever release of an album by a cult psychedelic band, led by Garth Watt-Roy (among others Greatest Show On Earth, Fuzzy Duck, Steamhammer, as well as a solo record under the pseudonym Leon Paul-Phillips) and his younger brother, Norman (Greatest Show On Earth, Ian Dury & The Blockheads). Unfortunately the release of the record depended on the success of the first two singles, and these did not "conquer" the charts. It has finally been achieved now, and the British, American and Japanese singles have been added to the mono and stereo versions. Highly recommended! (MU) -

A very attractive reissue, looking no worse than the British original on Parlophone, of the only album by the cult British band Locomotive. A fantastic, psychedelic and hugely underrated LP (with clearly audible elements of blues and jazz) recorded at the end of 1968, and released only in January 1970, by the Parlophone known to all. A combination of the style of early Procol Harum with the less well-known band Velvett Fogg, that is, short but concise compositions; lots of gloomy, organ sounds; memorable melodies, frequent changes of mood, as well as nice brass arrangements (including Dick Heckstall-Smith and Chris Mercer) and the superb, sinister vocals of the leader and organist Norman Haines. The content of the original album has been extended by two tracks from singles (1969) and "Moneymaker" (1970), never released on vinyl. In 1970 the discouraged band broke up, and Haines founded his own band, a more progressive, harder continuation, as it were, of Locomotive's achievements. The Locomotive album is one of my favourite 'Brits' of that era! An absolute MUST! Condition: NEW, unsealed. -

A new, extended and remastered edition from the reliable Eclipse label of the only album by the cult British band. A fantastic, still slightly psychedelic, but already early-progressive and hugely underrated at the time LP (with clearly audible elements of classical music and jazz), recorded at the end of 1968, and released only in January 1970 by the Parlophone known to all, but which was then waiting for who knows what. Locomotive is, in short, a combination of the style of early Procol Harum with the less well-known, but also Birmingham-born, band Velvett Fogg, and also the band Second Hand from the period of their excellent album "Reality" - but with an occasional brass section. The album was characterised by quite short but concise, often interlinked and memorable compositions with dominant dark organ sounds and the unsettling, excellent vocals of Norman Haines, frequent changes of mood and also excellent brass arrangements performed by the cream of British jazz (Dick Heckstall-Smith, Henry Lowther, Chris Mercer). This is an absolutely obligatory item for every fan of old British rock playing from the end of the 60s in the 'late psych/early prog' style! As early as 1969 the leader Norman Haines received an offer to join the band of his mates from Earth (soon afterwards renamed Black Sabbath), but he refused, counting on a breakthrough with the Locomotive album. After the commercial flop and the break-up of the band in 1970, the keyboard player founded his own Norman Haines Band, directly a more progressive and somewhat harder continuation of Locomotive's achievements. On this CD, to the content of the full-length record as many as twelve valuable bonus tracks have been added, including seven recordings from Parlophone singles, four previously unreleased on CD tracks from the BBC - including brilliant covers of the group Spirit and Bob Dylan - both available on YouTube) and "Money Maker", never released on any format. An absolute MUST! -

For the first time on CD! Lodestone is a British band playing progressive rock with psychedelic influences, in the vein of Procol Harum, The Nice or the Moody Blues, and even The Beatles. Their music was dominated by organ and also a rich use of orchestra. The band was formed on the initiative of the producer Tony Atkins, and its line-up included musicians known mainly from the freakbeat scene. Unfortunately "Time Flies" was released only in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. -

The first disc of this two-disc release is filled with previously unreleased single tracks and demo versions (from 1966-67) by the ephemeral rhythm'n'blues formation Lomax Alliance. The group had a contract with Brian Epstein (the manager of The Beatles), but after his sudden death only one CBS single came out. It is certainly a treat for fans of the "early-to-mid" 60s! The second disc, meanwhile, contains the average LP "White Lady" (1974) - the second album by the (earlier progressive) group Badger (still with Jackie Lomax on vocals), in a soft rock vein - sometimes played with a touch of soul and Latin music. ANALOGUE SOUND! A very rare (especially in great condition), first British pressing (from 1977, by CBS) of the second album by a very good, though underrated, British, slightly Zeppelin-like hard-progressive band, with Paul Chapman (UFO) on guitar. The vocal parts on this album were performed by John Sloman (later for a year in Uriah Heep). Originally the sleeve was covered with a thin, silver foil, very prone to scratches and scuffs! Lyric insert! Great condition! Fortunately, this copy still has the original factory foil (on which a circular scuff is visible - it is not the sleeve!), although minor scuffs on the back are visible, hence the sleeve: MINT- / Record almost perfect: MINT(-) -

The second and little-known album by one-time pop stars (the hit "Everlasting Love") - here, in 1970, decidedly looking up to Jethro Tull, Family, Traffic (flute, Hammond, guitars...) and generally the post-psychedelic, progressive scene! I have owned the record on CBS vinyl for years and even listen to it often! A beautiful release in a digipak. This album may not change anyone's life, but it will certainly appeal to everyone in love with old, classic rock from the very end of the 60s! Highly recommended! Ten bonus tracks. (JL) -

Released in the original, controversial cover (no major label would let this project through today...), a reissue of the only, very rare, but great, album made in 1971 by a totally forgotten, hard-rock British band (two white Angolans + two natives of Barbados). The record was filled with riffing, hard-rock tracks (though poured over with a psychedelic or progressive sauce) in the vein of Horse, Incredible Hog, Stray and Leaf Hound. The original Polydor vinyl in MINT- condition is worth 700-800 euros today, so it is undoubtedly worth taking a chance on this perfectly sounding reissue! Additionally a track from the B-side of the group's only single has been included. Highly recommended! Condition: NEW, sealed. -
