A reissue by the Ethelion label (specialising in little-known, top-shelf classic rock), in my opinion ONE OF THE TEN BEST LITTLE-KNOWN BRITISH PROGRESSIVE ALBUMS from the TURN OF THE 60s and 70s! Released in January 1969, sadly the only LP by this band, it is an excellent combination of the then so refreshing mixture of late psychedelia and blues- and jazz-based early prog rock, close to the achievements of Jethro Tull, very early Family, Spirit and Captain Beefheart. Nice flute and saxophone parts, jazzy guitar, dreamy, psychedelic vocals and mind-blowing, very spacious yet solid sound of the rhythm section. A wonderful record and at the same time totally underrated to this day (even by my fellow writer Richard Morton-Jack...). 56 minutes of intense and unforgettable experiences! The drummer visible on the front of the cover later played in the progressive band Whichwhat. An absolute MUST! -

Excellent-sounding edition, mastered from the original vinyl, of ONE of the TEN BEST LITTLE-KNOWN BRITISH PROGRESSIVE ALBUMS from the TURN OF THE 60s and 70s! That is no exaggeration! Released in January 1969, the formation's unfortunately only LP is an excellent combination of the then so invigorating mixture of late psychedelia and early, blues- and jazz-based prog rock, close to the output of Jethro Tull, very early Family, Spirit and Captain Beefheart. Nice flute and saxophone parts, jazzy guitar, a dreamy, psychedelic vocal and frenzied, very spacious, but solid sound of the rhythm section. A wonderful and at the same time still totally underrated record to this day (even by my fellow writer Richard Morton-Jack...). 56 minutes of intense and unforgettable experiences! This edition sounds much cleaner than the Sanctuary CD version, also taken from vinyl, and slightly better than the Free Records CD. In addition two mono versions from a very rare single. The drummer visible on the front of the sleeve later played in the progressive formation Whichwhat - also released by Flawed Gems. An absolute MUST! -

A British band with a single album, released in 1969, playing melodic pop poured over with a light, psychedelic sauce - close to the early Bee Gees. Some of the tracks are very, but really very, charming! The vocalist later appeared in Mainhorse Airline and Rats. Recommended! -

A reissue of a legendary album recorded in March 1968 and released by American and Canadian Epic in 1971. Unfortunately, after just a few days the LP was withdrawn from sale following Jimmy Page's fierce objection, which of course instantly turned the record into a considerable rarity. The Yardbirds, playing as a quartet, appear here as a thoroughbred psychedelic band that on the one hand still remembers its rhythm 'n' blues roots, but plays with rock verve and does not shy away from long improvisations - just as befits 1968! The band even plays "I'm Confused" here - an early version of "Dazed And Confused" (a song Page took in 1967 from one Jake Holmes). This is sensational material and, to be quite honest, alongside the 1966 album and the classic singles it is without doubt the best thing this wonderful band ever recorded! Seriously - this is an obligatory LP for every rock fan, also because of the good (though not perfect) sound quality. Stiff, laminated cardboard sleeve, heavy vinyl. New - sealed. A must! (JL)
