VELVET OPERA (ELMER GANTRY'S VELVET OPERA) (see also: Strawbs / Fire) - ELMER GANTRY'S VELVET OPERA - Long Nights Of Summer - Elmer Gantry's Velvet Opera Anthology (3CD) - UK Grapefruit Editionprice: 120,00 PLN / 30,00 EUR
A three-disc set containing the first complete anthology of the British band, playing a very eclectic variety of rock, combining the style of Skip Bifferty, The Beatles, The Kinks, The Move and early Pink Floyd. The first two CDs are the stereo and mono versions of the only album credited as Elmer Gantry's Velvet Opera, an absolute masterpiece of the psychedelic era - with sitar, Mellotron, sound effects, funny announcements, and so on. The third disc contains the record "Ride A Hustler's Dream" from 1969, recorded already without Elmer Gantry, under the name Velvet Opera. The music on it is a combination of blues, folk and pop-psychedelia - somewhat in the vein of early Blossom Toes, late The Beatles and early Strawbs. Each CD has bonus tracks added, including other studio versions, demo recordings, singles and 50 minutes of tracks from BBC sessions, most of which have never been released. A must! -

VELVETT FOGG (see also: Ghost / Warhorse) - VELVETT FOGG - Velvett Fogg +2 - EU Magic Potion Expanded Limited Edition - LISTEN - VERY RAREprice: 55,00 PLN / 13,75 EUR
A new, limited, remastered, European edition of one of the best, forgotten British records of the late 60s! Released in January 1969 (on the same day and on the same label, Pye, as the brilliant LP by the band Woody Kern), the only, sensational album by Velvett Fogg is a chunk of intense, psychedelic rock (evidently and very naturally turning 'progressive') based on the interplay of ubiquitous organs, intense guitar parts, attractive sound manipulations typical of that period, somewhat sleepy vocals and catchy compositions! The band's music can be compared to very early Deep Purple, The Nice and Procol Harum as well as The Attack and of course The Beatles. It is worth adding that the leader/guitarist was... a cousin of Tony Iommi (of Black Sabbath) - Paul Eastment (shortly afterwards the founder of British Ghost), and the organ was played by Frank Wilson - already in 1970 imitating Jon Lord in the band Warhorse. Additionally 2 recordings from a mono single are included, including a cover, unreleased on the LP, of the famous ' Telstar' - The Tornados. This is the best-sounding edition of this record 'ever'! AN ABSOLUTE MUST! (JL) Condition: new, sealed. -

In addition, the B-side of the single has been included. It is the best-sounding reissue of this title! A must! NEW, SEALED. -

VERITY, JOHN -BAND- (see also: Argent) - JOHN VERITY BAND - John Verity Band - US Digipack - LISTEN - VERY RAREprice: 60,00 PLN / 15,00 EUR
A hard-rock discovery! On CD for the first time! I have known this group's name forever; I knew that the only vinyl album was very rare and relatively expensive (for 1974), but I did not suspect that it was THAT GOOD! Well, it is a guitar masterpiece resembling a little the Chicken Shack LP - Imagination Lady (though not as heavy) or the LP by the group Agnes Strange - and on top of that adorned with somewhat Wishbone Ash-like guitar parts! Right afterwards John Verity replaced Russ Ballard in Argent. A pity! Definitely recommended! -

WALKER, GARY & THE RAIN (see also: Badfinger) - GARY WALKER & THE RAIN - Album No. 1 - FRA Absinthe Limited Press - LISTEN - VERY RAREprice: 110,00 PLN / 27,50 EUR
Limited to 500 copies, a beautiful (in a gatefold and very colourful sleeve) reissue of the sensational and unfortunately sole album, released in 1968, by a British band led by the drummer of The Walker Brothers. The album originally came out only in Japan and is worth over 2000 euros! It is exquisite, sometimes lighter, sometimes heavier, somewhat Beatles-like psychedelia in the style of The Zombies, Koobas, Skip Bifferty and so on, with stunning overdriven guitar parts from Joey Molland (later in Badfinger). The sound and pressing quality is perfect! I assure you that it is one of the best items of this genre and an absolutely essential one for all fans of playing from 1967-1969! A must! New, sealed. -
WALLY - WALLY - Martyrs And Cowboys - Atlantic Recordings 1974-1975 (2CD) - UK Esoteric Expanded Edition - LISTENprice: 90,00 PLN / 22,50 EUR
An album containing two records by the band. Released in 1974, a very good debut album by a band playing classic, rather gentle (without instrumental acrobatics) but flawlessly delivered rock in the tradition of old Yes, Genesis, Fantasy, Asgard and Druid. The 14-minute "To The Urban Man" is a progressive masterpiece - with a building mood, Mellotron parts and a delicious guitar solo. It is an album that will delight all lovers of this kind of playing; besides, it was produced by Rick Wakeman! The second album, released in 1975, was filled by just 4 tracks - including a 19-minute, multi-threaded, instrumental suite. -
WALRUS - WALRUS - Walrus +1 - GER Black Rose Edition - LISTEN - VERY RAREprice: 60,00 PLN / 15,00 EUR
German edition of the only (once released by Deram), but very good, album by a forgotten band playing nice, jazzy progressive rock in the style of Galliard, If and Hannibal - with a pinch of Traffic. Plenty of trumpet, backed by sharp guitar parts. One bonus track. Highly recommended!
