Fan-club, two-disc and absolutely brilliant recording, limited to 500 copies, of the Pink Floyd concert of November 1970 - just after the release of "Atom Heart Mother". Many consider this performance the band's best concert of their whole career - helped also by the fantastic sound quality! Reportedly the whole thing was recorded on two professional Uher tape recorders, placed six metres from the stage. And as the acoustics at the casino in Montreux were reportedly legendary, the whole thing sounds frenzied! This is the PF I adore most - still experimental, still enchanting with a psychedelic sound, but not afraid to 'lay into it' in an almost hard rock manner! The band was then at the peak of form, besides which in 1970 it had managed to work out in concerts an exceptionally juicy, full sound (with incredible parts from Gilmour and Wright) - even more intense than on the first, so excellent disc of the LP/CD "Ummagumma" - something almost impossible to imagine! Unfortunately, nothing from that magical year 1970 was commemorated on official records - well, perhaps with the exception of a few of the best passages of the suite "Meddle"... The next year the quartet also performed in Montreux, but with a somewhat different repertoire and a smaller dose of adrenaline. And two years after that it was already a rather different band... Recently this material has been somewhat improved (lightly de-noised - with slightly more bass and treble) and sounds truly impressive! In addition two bonus tracks from the performance of the following day (at the beginning of which Waters sarcastically greets the Swiss: 'Good morning'...). An absolute MUST! (JL)
