VARIOUS ARTISTS - UK PSYCHEDELIA - VARIOUS ARTISTS - Think I’m Going Weird - Original Artefacts From The British Psychedelic Scene 1966-68 (5CD BOX) - UK Grapefruit Editionprice: 260,00 PLN / 65,00 EUR
The hundredth release from the Grapefruit label, and in it an overview of the British psychedelic scene! A set of five CDs containing over 50 minutes of previously unreleased music from 1966-68, including demo recordings by Tintern Abbey, Soft Machine, Mabel Greer's Toyshop, Genesis, Mandrake Paddle Steamer and Dantalian's Chariot. The artists also include such stars as The Who, Traffic, Small Faces, The Move, Procol Harum, Incredible String Band, Family, Crazy World Of Arthur Brown and Bee Gees. But perhaps the most interesting are the recordings by bands that are only now coming to light, including Eyes Of Blond, Tinsel Arcade, Crystal Ship (with lyrics by Pete Brown) and 117. VELVETT FOGG (see also: Ghost / Warhorse) - VELVETT FOGG - Velvett Fogg +2 - EU Magic Potion Expanded Limited Edition - LISTEN - VERY RAREprice: 55,00 PLN / 13,75 EUR
A new, limited, remastered, European edition of one of the best, forgotten British records of the late 60s! Released in January 1969 (on the same day and on the same label, Pye, as the brilliant LP by the band Woody Kern), the only, sensational album by Velvett Fogg is a chunk of intense, psychedelic rock (evidently and very naturally turning 'progressive') based on the interplay of ubiquitous organs, intense guitar parts, attractive sound manipulations typical of that period, somewhat sleepy vocals and catchy compositions! The band's music can be compared to very early Deep Purple, The Nice and Procol Harum as well as The Attack and of course The Beatles. It is worth adding that the leader/guitarist was... a cousin of Tony Iommi (of Black Sabbath) - Paul Eastment (shortly afterwards the founder of British Ghost), and the organ was played by Frank Wilson - already in 1970 imitating Jon Lord in the band Warhorse. Additionally 2 recordings from a mono single are included, including a cover, unreleased on the LP, of the famous ' Telstar' - The Tornados. This is the best-sounding edition of this record 'ever'! AN ABSOLUTE MUST! (JL) Condition: new, sealed. -

VOX DEI - VOX DEI - La Biblia (Segun Vox Dei) - EU Magic Potion Limited Edition - LISTEN - VERY RAREprice: 55,00 PLN / 13,75 EUR
A new, limited, European edition of the superb, psych-progressive rock classic released in spring 1971 in Argentina, full of extended compositions based on the dense, juicy and strongly psychedelic interplay of electric and acoustic guitars, usually backed by keyboards in the background, and magical, melodic vocals (in Spanish). Originally, the 55-minute album (translated with the subtitle: "The Bible According To Vox Dei") appeared on double vinyl and is the second studio LP by this cult band - regarded as a milestone in the history of Argentine rock. It is worth knowing that, unlike in other South American countries, a huge number of excellent rock bands were exceptionally active in Argentina (reminiscent of the work of somewhat rawer progressive bands from Italy and Spain), which since the 90s have been highly valued by fans and collectors. So this is not an anomaly, but a rock classic! Great sound, although it should be remembered that parts of the penultimate, 10-minute track "Cristo" sound a little less clear, as they come from an average copy, because 2-3 minutes were accidentally... erased in the studio! Attention! This is the original version from the Disc Jockey label in the classic sleeve. Years later the material was re-recorded twice (in new sleeves), but that was decidedly not it... AN ABSOLUTE MUST! (JL) -

WEATHER REPORT - WEATHER REPORT – Live In Berlin 1975 (CD + DVD) - MIG Music Editionprice: 110,00 PLN / 27,50 EUR
A concert from Berlin, which took place on 6 November 1975, when after the departure of Miroslav Vitouš his place on bass was taken by Alphonso Johnson, and the band was increasingly clearly moving away from its earlier, more experimental jazz towards electric jazz fusion with strong elements of funk. -

CD
WENDY & BONNIE - WENDY & BONNIE – Genesis (2CD) +24 - Sundazed Music Editionprice: 170,00 PLN / 42,50 EUR
A subtle combination of psychedelic folk, sunshine pop and soft rock, enriched with jazz influences. The record's greatest strength is the delicate vocal harmonies of the sisters Wendy and Bonnie Flower and the refined, spacious arrangements. Piano, organ, guitar and a light rhythm section give the recordings a warm, at times melancholy sound. Musically the album can be compared to The Free Design, Sagittarius and The Mamas & the Papas. It is an elegant, melodic and today cult record of American psychedelia of the late 60s. -
CD
WHITE NOISE - WHITE NOISE - An Electric Storm - UK Remastered Edition - LISTENprice: 60,00 PLN / 15,00 EUR
The British counterpart of the group The United States Of America - only less rock and somewhat more experimental. The album is characterised by a very gloomy mood and numerous experiments with sound. A fascinating, though rather difficult title. Remastered British edition. -
LP
WIGWAM - WIGWAM - Tombstone Valentine - FIN Svart Records Limited Press - LISTENprice: 180,00 PLN / 45,00 EUR
An excellent second album by the progressive Finns, and the first on which bassist Pekka Pohjola played. Released in 1970 in Finland by the Love Records label, "Tombstone Valentine" contains 11 compositions in the vein of Procol Harum and Traffic, with jazzy touches. A 2019 reissue by the Finnish label Svart, on gold vinyl, limited to 500 copies. -
CD
WISHBONE ASH - WISHBONE ASH - Live In New Jersey, January 1974 - FRA On The Air Edition - LISTEN - VERY RAREprice: 60,00 PLN / 15,00 EUR
Released in France in a limited run, an unofficial, live, 80-minute recording made in New Jersey in January 1974 for the cult radio programme King Biscuit Flower Hour. These were the last weeks in the band for guitarist Ted Turner and, considering how little live material was recorded with the first line-up, this is a real treat for fans of the band! The setlist is similar to the 2LP "Live Dates" (but the sound quality is even marginally better!), but the band played, among others, "Sometime World" and "Where Were You Tomorrow" - the latter accompanied by two musicians from the Climax Blues Band! As I already mentioned - the sound quality is perfect! Below I have included links to the music, but the quality of this CD is 20% clearer than the average (but still very good-sounding) YouTube transfer. A must! (JL) -
CD
WOODY KERN (see also: Whichwhat) - WOODY KERN - Awful Disclosures Of Maria Monk +2 - SWE Flawed Gems Remastered Expanded - LISTEN - VERY RAREprice: 60,00 PLN / 15,00 EUR
Excellent-sounding edition, mastered from the original vinyl, of ONE of the TEN BEST LITTLE-KNOWN BRITISH PROGRESSIVE ALBUMS from the TURN OF THE 60s and 70s! That is no exaggeration! Released in January 1969, the formation's unfortunately only LP is an excellent combination of the then so invigorating mixture of late psychedelia and early, blues- and jazz-based prog rock, close to the output of Jethro Tull, very early Family, Spirit and Captain Beefheart. Nice flute and saxophone parts, jazzy guitar, a dreamy, psychedelic vocal and frenzied, very spacious, but solid sound of the rhythm section. A wonderful and at the same time still totally underrated record to this day (even by my fellow writer Richard Morton-Jack...). 56 minutes of intense and unforgettable experiences! This edition sounds much cleaner than the Sanctuary CD version, also taken from vinyl, and slightly better than the Free Records CD. In addition two mono versions from a very rare single. The drummer visible on the front of the sleeve later played in the progressive formation Whichwhat - also released by Flawed Gems. An absolute MUST! -

WRIGHT, RICHARD (see also: Pink Floyd) - RICHARD WRIGHT - Wet Dream - US One Way Records/Sony Music Edition - LISTENprice: 60,00 PLN / 15,00 EUR
Released by EMI Harvest in 1978, the excellent first record by the Pink Floyd keyboardist - probably the best solo album ever released by a member of that band. Long out of print, American CD from the label One Way Records/Sony Music Special Products. A MUST! -
CD
XHOL CARAVAN (see also: Xhol / Embryo) - XHOL CARAVAN - Electrip +5 - EU Prog Gems Limited Edition - LISTEN - VERY RAREprice: 55,00 PLN / 13,75 EUR
A new, limited, greatly expanded European edition of one of the earliest (alongside Phallus Dei by Amon Duul II) underground albums released in 1969 in Germany. The record, made by the Hansa label and dominated by long compositions of a rather dark character, was dominated by very lively, strongly psychedelic, improvised, jazzy, slightly Zappa-like, not devoid of ethnic influences, but kept 'in check', progressive music with dominant parts for saxophone, organ and guitars. In 1970 the band shortened its name to Xhol and recorded two very nice, but probably no longer so exciting, albums. To the contents of the original LP have been added 2 tracks from a rare single from 1969 and three excellent tracks, lasting 35 minutes together, recorded in 1970 for the legendary programme Beat-Club! AN ABSOLUTE MUST! Condition: NEW, sealed. -

YANAGIDA, HIRO (see also: Food Brain / Apryl Fool) - HIRO YANAGIDA - Hiro Yanagida (2nd Album) - EU Prog Gems Limited Edition - VERY RARE - LISTENprice: 55,00 PLN / 13,75 EUR
Japanese rock of the early 70s is one of the most interesting things I have heard, and Hiro Yanagida was probably the most important and most creative figure of that scene! Known from projects such as Apryl Fool, Foodbrain, Love Live Life + One and Shinki Chen And His Friends, the artist created very original, at times slightly crazy music inspired by works of classical music, the avant-garde, and above all British psychedelic/progressive rock. Like the debut LP "Milk Time", released in 1970, the album "Hiro Yanagida" (sometimes called "Nanasai No Rohjin Tengoku"), made in 1971, is genuinely very varied music (from heavy, thrilling rock all the way to classical-leaning miniatures) based as a rule on the sound of the Hammond organ and heavy, at times strongly overdriven guitar (the excellent Kimio Mizutani - I recommend his solo LP from 1971). This largely instrumental album is simply thrilling, although it goes down even better after several listens! Lovers of the first album will also be delighted with this album! A must! Condition: New, sealed. (JL) -

YANAGIDA, HIRO (see also: Food Brain / Apryl Fool) - HIRO YANAGIDA - Milk Time - EU Prog Gems Limited Edition - VERY RARE - LISTENprice: 55,00 PLN / 13,75 EUR
This is one of literally a few best rock records made in Japan in the early 70s! The debut of this Japanese keyboardist, released at the end of 1970 (recorded with, among others, members of Speed Glue & Shinki and Flied Egg), is genuinely very varied music (from heavy, thrilling rock to early fusion to classical-leaning, delicate miniatures) based as a rule on the sound of the Hammond organ, the virtuoso, melodic, yet warm sound of the violin and the heavy, at times strongly overdriven guitar of the excellent Kimio Mizutani (playing a little in the style of Can's guitarist), but there is also the sound of violin and even harpsichord. This entirely instrumental album (worth 1000-1200 dollars in the ultra-rare original on the Liberty label) is simply thrilling, although it goes down even better after several listens! And that splendid sleeve (with a copy of the original insert reproduced inside a gatefold booklet)... Great, clear sound - slightly better than on earlier editions! A must! Condition: New, sealed. YES - YES - In Concert 1971 - FRA On The Air Limited Edition - LISTEN - VERY RAREprice: 60,00 PLN / 15,00 EUR
A rare European CD limited to 500 copies, a 77-minute and truly excellent compilation of very rare or unique recordings by the band from its early, breakthrough (just before it won popularity) period - recorded between January and July 1971 (with Bill Bruford on drums and Tony Kaye on organ), during the tours promoting the albums "Time And The Word" and "The Yes Album". The record contains a unique and very interesting setlist, including a superb, improvised, 16-minute version of "America" from the repertoire of Simon & Garfunkel, the 11-minute "It's Love" by the American band The Rascals, known from the second record, fantastic and heavily altered versions of the progressive "Astral Traveller" and the absolutely brilliant "Everydays" from the repertoire of Buffalo Springfield and finally the extended "Yours Is No Disgrace" and "Perpetual Change", lasting 11 and 14 minutes respectively. The sound quality is perfect. In my opinion, alongside the classic "Yessongs", it is the best live Yes material I have ever heard! An absolute must! (JL) -
LP
YESTERDAY AND TODAY - YESTERDAY AND TODAY - Yesterday And Today - EU Sun King Limited Press - LISTEN - VERY RAREprice: 110,00 PLN / 27,50 EUR
Originally released by London Records in November 1976, an excellent, hard rock but really heavy debut by the Americans, based on powerful guitar riffs, excellent, dense drumming in the style of John Bonham and catchy melodies. The LP is reminiscent of the first albums by Moxy, Legs Diamond, Riot and Teaze! At the beginning of the eighties the band (with the same line-up) shortened its name to Y&T and recorded several still great, more metal records. 2024 reissue - exceptionally in a gatefold sleeve, as the original inner sleeve has been reproduced inside. Highly recommended! Condition: NEW, sealed. (JL)
