This unique, limited album of nearly an hour contains unreleased, unique 'live' recordings by the brilliant (on their first three albums) progressive Scottish band. The first side is filled with three extended classics of the band, recorded live in the studio (with Virginia Scott additionally on mellotron) for the legendary German programme "Beat-Club" (1971). It all sounds perfect - like recordings made by Vertigo, or better! In my opinion the version of "Time Machine" is even better (slightly heavier) than the one from the second album! For those 28 minutes alone you should own this splendid record. The second part is filled with a 30-minute fragment of a performance in Italy on 4 May 1972, recorded from the audience, that is an 8-minute "MacArthur Park" and a stunning, powerful, 20-minute cover of a classic by the psychedelic band Eire Apparent, "Yes I Need Someone". It sounds very good, you can't tear yourself away, though not as good as the tracks from German TV. The album is adorned with a very nice laminated sleeve containing several rare photos of this underrated band. A MUST! Condition: MINT, NEW, unsealed. (JL) -

Official live material, unreleased in its day (of rather average quality), from May 1974, containing a great performance by one of the best progressive groups from Italy. The LP begins with the excellent, seven-minute "Il Tempo Della Samina", that is, the title track of the group's second album, recorded in 1975 but not released until years later! The next five tracks are almost entirely the superbly played debut album. Very tastefully presented Italian gatefold LP with an insert as well. A must for all fans of old, progressive playing with Hammond, flute and heavyish guitar! Recommended! -

This sole, entirely instrumental album, released in 1971 by an ephemeral British band, is counted as so-called 'library music', that is, illustrative music usually created by top session musicians for low-budget films, documentaries and so on. Records with this kind of material were released by specialist labels in minimal runs and today are vinyl rarities. A typical example of this subgenre were The Pretty Things' records released under the Electric Banana banner. The record is a slab of solid, atmospheric and very trance-like playing on the edge of psychedelia, pop and early progressive rock. The whole sounds as if it were made in 1968 or 1969. Highly recommended! Spanish reissue in a round sleeve, no longer in production, limited to 500 copies. (JL) -

At the time Operation was released by the legendary German label Ohr and as an original (with a five-digit catalogue number) it is worth over 300 euros; so this very tasteful reissue is quite a good alternative for vinyl collectors. LAST COPIES! Blodwyn Pig is an excellent, British progressive (jazzy-bluesy) formation led by Mick Abrahams - the first guitarist of Jethro Tull. This superb double vinyl, limited to 500 copies, of nearly 120 minutes (modelled almost 100% on the old release from the label Chrysalis) contains almost all the very good quality recordings available on the market made for BBC radio in 1969-1974. In addition 35 live recordings made somewhere in the British Isles in 1970 are included. On the tracks from the 1974 reunion (including the 30-minute, excellent live performance for a small audience) the drummer was Clive Bunker, known from Jethro Tull! ATTENTION! Ten brand new compositions (six from 1974) did not appear on records, so one could almost say that a third, unrecorded album is contained here: live/studio from 1974! On two tracks by the group Peter Banks, known from early Yes, played guitar! Great sound quality (the 1970 concert slightly worse)! Inside the gatefold sleeve there are old articles from the late 60s! Plenty of interesting reading and several nice photos! A MUST! -

A new 2025 reissue. "In October 1970 The Blue Effect entered a recording studio for one day to prepare three English-language versions for a new edition of the debut, planned by Supraphon/Artia (the export branch of the Czech label), intended exclusively for East European markets and unavailable in Czech shops. To the original instrumental backing tracks, Semelka, in my opinion less convincing than his predecessor, added new vocal lines to Paměť Lásky - now renamed Kingdom Of Life; Fénix was called You'll Stay With Me, and Stroj na nic was titled Brother's Song. On the other hand the original, Czech track for the piece Blue Effect Street was probably replaced by Mišík's old, English version and changed to White Hair. The second, English-language side of the album Meditace remained untouched and is identical on both titles. I will only add that from the piece Kingdom Of Life the initial sitar part disappeared, and to the middle, delicate part for string quartet (probably unnecessarily) melodic piano phrases were added, while in place of the Czech declamation by the long-forgotten Miloš Svoboda, more decisive English words were pasted in, spoken by... the porter at the Supraphon studios! Released in an attractive and, compared with Meditace, completely changed, laminated sleeve, the LP Kingdom Of Life reached the 'fraternal' record markets in 1971 and for years was one of the most sought-after 'eastern' items by Western fans of psychedelic and progressive rock. I will only add that the veeery rare first pressing (72 1) had a navy blue vinyl label with a unique, very large, semicircular Supraphon inscription."
