A famous album, originally a double, released in 1969. "Streetnoise" is a wonderful item - perhaps the best in Brian Auger's discography. In my book about British rock the record received the maximum score of 10 points. Plenty of varied moods based on the sound of the Hammond organ, a great rhythm section, and the charming vocals of Julie Driscoll: from psychedelia, through jazzy, almost club moods - to juicy, almost progressive rock. A Japanese, limited edition from Polydor, from 2021. Highly recommended! (JL) -

Blunder, Blossom Toes, Centipede), the drummer Louis Moholo (Assagai) and the cornetist Mark Charig and the trombonist Nick Evans, associated with Centipede and King Crimson. The record contains compositions featuring jazz rock, free jazz and blues, and everything is ruled by the voice and piano of the Tippetts. Remastered 2022 edition. -

The second and fifth LPs on one CD (1968-1970). "Dr. Dunbar's Prescription" is classic, guitar blues rock from the late 60s, while "Blue Whale", recorded in 1970 (for the first time in the original vinyl mix), is superb progressive rock in the vein of Colosseum, Zappa and Juicy Lucy. These records may not be stunningly produced in terms of artwork, but they have excellent sound! A MUST! -

Released in 1970, the unfortunately only album by a great French formation, later transformed into the much more popular band Sandrose. The music of Eden Rose is early-progressive, organ-and-guitar, entirely instrumental (and good!) playing, a blend of the output of Procol Harum, Crazy World Of Arthur Brown, a more progressive Brian Auger and Hell Preachers Inc. Eight substantial, unembellished, at moments strongly classicising tracks with great, overdriven guitar parts and juicy Hammond organ. That is how they played only in 1969-70! A previously unreleased live album, providing an insight into Gibbs's craft before his proper recording career (his debut album was released in 1970). Creating a big band boasting the cream of contemporary British jazz, Gibbs joined forces at the concert of 20 November 1969, at Whitla Hall in Belfast, with the pioneering vibraphonist Gary Burton and his quartet. The third CD contains a recording of a performance at Lancaster University, in February of the same year, already without Burton's quartet. -

Released in 1972 (by Atlantic), an excellent, unfortunately only album by an American group playing fusion, that is, a combination of jazz and progressive rock, and because the leader was a guitarist, there is a surprising amount of rock here! This is top-shelf playing - like the first two LPs by the Mahavishnu Orchestra or the debut of Brian Auger's Oblivion Express (from 1971). Excellent production and fantastic sound! Highly recommended! -

Originally an album from 1975, made after the break-up of the then line-up of Guru Guru. Formally it came out under the name Guru Guru, but in practice it was a quasi-solo album by Mani Neumeier with invited musicians. The record is very varied: from jazz-rock associated with Kraan, through ethnic and experimental elements, to Mani's characteristic, somewhat absurd humour. -
