STEWART, AL - AL STEWART – Original Album Series 1967-1978 (5CD) - EU Remastered Editionprice: 100,00 PLN / 25,00 EUR
A very tastefully released, five-disc box set, containing five albums by this artist endowed with a very pleasant, warm, though "intelligent" voice. The debut (Bedsitter Images from 1967) is a very nice, slightly 'Donovan-like' album full of charming soft-rock melodies, often adorned with plush orchestrations. But the best was still to come! The second in the discography, released two years later, the LP Love Chronicle is already an absolute REVELATION! This fantastic album, unfortunately completely unknown in Poland, was made with the participation of 3 Fairport Convention musicians (under pseudonyms) and with Jimmy Page on electric guitar! It is a folk-psych-rock masterpiece - full of both brilliant melodies and unexpected changes of mood and also not free of early-progressive influences (Hammond organ; an 18-minute, folk suite). Everyone who hears this record is instantly smitten with it - including fans of dense, progressive sweeping... And even despite the fact that it was precisely there that the word "fuck" appeared for the first time in the history of British music (several times...)! Beautiful music! The progressive no. 4 is worth every penny and contains probably the most atmospheric solo in the career of the Led Zep guitarist! The third album was more acoustic than the brilliant predecessor, but still fascinating. The fourth disc contains the artist's most popular album - Year of the Cat (1976) - a great, very melodic and quite ambitious record, which can be described as soft-prog-rock. The fifth disc is Al Stewart's eighth studio album, Time Passages, released in 1978, and at the same time one of his greatest commercial successes. The record combines Stewart's characteristic folk-rock and singer-songwriter narration with a more refined, soft rock-pop production, for which Alan Parsons was responsible. Highly recommended! A MUST! -

STONE THE CROWS - STONE THE CROWS - Ontinous Performance - JAPAN Polydor 1972 1st Press - NEAR MINT VINTAGE VINYLprice: 350,00 PLN / 87,50 EUR
ANALOGUE SOUND! A mega rare, first Japanese Polydor release (from 1972) of the fourth and last album by the once very popular Scottish blues-progressive band, at times heavy-playing and improvising a lot, with the excellent Maggie Bell - somewhat reminiscent of Janis Joplin - regarded at the time as the best British female vocalist. Note! The record was partly filled with very stylish guitar parts played by Les Harvey (Alex's brother) - the unfortunate man who was killed by an electric shock on stage during a concert in 1971... Inevitably, on a few tracks on this record he was replaced by the very young Jimmy McCulloch (ex-Thunderclap Newman - later in Paul McCartney's Wings). Additionally a lyric insert. Perfect condition! The rigid, cardboard sleeve like new: MINT- / Record: MINT- -

STRAWBS (see also: Yes / Rick Wakeman / Velvet Opera) - STRAWBS - Battle - A Collection Of Rare Live Performances & BBC Sessions (1968-1972) (2LP) - FRA Verne Limited Press - LISTEN - VERY RAREprice: 170,00 PLN / 42,50 EUR
Released in a superb sleeve, a superbly pressed, perfect-sounding, 110-minute double vinyl, containing 90% material from the period of the band's work with Rick Wakeman. The album gathers rare recordings made for the BBC (including a stunning version of the title track "The Battle" from 1968 and a 40-minute concert from 1971, with a brilliant version of "Sheep") and fantastic-sounding live tracks from 1970 from the period of the LP "Just A Collection Of Antiques And Curios". In my opinion Wakeman never played keyboards as well as in Strawbs! Even in Yes! I found it hard to tear myself away from this record! A MUST! Condition: NEW, sealed. -

ANALOGUE SOUND! A mega rare, first American pressing by Manticore (from 1973) of the great debut album by an American-British band (with a lyric insert and the original company inner sleeve) of guitar-driven, heavy rock with numerous improvisations and clear influences of prog rock and blues. The whole was produced by Greg Lake. This is a rock classic! It may be worth knowing that the guitarist Snuffy Walden replaced Paul Kossoff (on several tracks) on Free's LP "Heartbreaker", while the British drummer had earlier played with Noel Redding in the heavy rock band Road. The very attractive-looking sleeve, styled as perforated wood, is in great condition, though it has a promotional cut on the spine, a number written on the front and a small crease: strong EXCELLENT / Record played a few times, like new: MINT- -

SUCK - SUCK - Time To Suck +1 - EU Sun King Limited Press - LISTEN - VERY RAREprice: 110,00 PLN / 27,50 EUR
A superb record from South Africa, legendary among collectors. The album contained (with one exception) only covers of more or less well-known tracks from the hard and prog rock area - all performed with great dynamism and fire. Believe me that some recordings turned out better than the originals (e.g. two Grand Funk compositions or Colosseum's "Elegy"), and whose version of "War Pigs" (this is a bonus track from a rare, South African compilation from 1971!) is better - please judge for yourself... The original vinyl (released by Parlophone) in very good condition costs nearly 2000 euros! 2024 edition, in a gatefold, matt sleeve, sealed. A must! (JL) -
SUGARLOAF - SUGARLOAF - Sugarloaf / Spaceship Earth (1970-1971) - UK BGO Remastered Edition - LISTENprice: 75,00 PLN / 18,75 EUR
An American band with a strong, psychedelic sound based on Hammond organ, with slight influences of blues and classical music. The first record (from 1970) is simply excellent - melodic, very intense, heavy, a bit Doors-like (with elements of Vanilla Fudge, Iron Butterfly and early British progression) and decidedly catchy - simply top-shelf rock classics. What is more, the track "Green-Eyed Lady" is a rock classic known forever! The second album (1971) is slightly weaker, generally gentler, but still with plenty of nice moments and generally very decent. Remastered edition from the label BGO. Highly recommended! -
