This is a recording of Omega's second big concert at Budapest's Népstadion, which took place on 4 September 1999. The programme was based above all on tracks from the band's hard rock period, but there were also classic compositions from earlier records and an extended passage from "Szvit". -

A 2CD collecting two somewhat later, but probably the most important, English-language albums by Omega from the period of its (relatively) greatest international successes. It is worth knowing that in 1975-1978 the band's records came out not only in Germany, but also in Britain, in several European countries and in North America! "Time Robber" (1976) was characterised by the mighty sound of Moog synthesisers and mellotron and striking guitar parts, which gave the music a monumental, almost symphonic character. "Skyrover" (1978) develops this style, offering more compact compositions, while retaining the space, melodiousness and cosmic atmosphere characteristic of the band. The distinct keyboard parts, dynamic rhythm section and expressive singing of János Kóbor created a coherent whole. Highly recommended! (JL) -

The two-disc release from the German label MIG Music combines two classic titles from the somewhat later period of Omega's activity. Released first in Germany in the English version, Gammapolis (1978), popular among fans, is an album full of extended compositions, striking synthesiser and mellotron parts and characteristic, melodic guitars, which create a monumental, cosmic sound, combining progressive rock with hard rock energy and catchy themes. Filling CD2, 'Live at The Kisstadion' (1979) was recorded during concerts in Budapest in September 1979 and shows the band in excellent live form, presenting extended versions of pieces, virtuoso instrumental parts and superb cooperation between the musicians. Highly recommended! -

A splendid, two-disc, German release from 2022 collecting two (Omega, 1973 and III, 1974) English-language albums made for the West European market and produced for Bellaphon by Peter Hauke - producer of Nektar and many other great progressive bands from Germany. Most of the compositions came originally from the Hungarian records 'Elo Omega' and '5'. Omega showed its characteristic combination of progressive rock, hard rock and melodic space rock, enriching the sound with rich parts for Hammond organ, mellotron and Moog synthesisers. A MUST! Brand new Italian CD containing a recording of a superb, 70-minute performance that the band gave in May 1975 in one of the West German cities. Excellent sound quality (probably better than on the catalogue "Elo Omega" and "Kisstadion '79") and slightly better than files available here and there on the internet. The band summed up its early period in a worthy manner, performing several of its best compositions, such as 'Dziewczyna o perłowych włosach' (in Hungarian) or 'Magiczny, biały kamień'! A MUST! -

This is a remastered new edition, expanded with nine rare tracks (including "Dziewczyna o perłowych włosach" in English and German), of the first "West German", English-language album, recorded in an excellent studio under the eye of the experienced producers Peter Hauke and Dieter Dierks (Nektar, Grobschnitt, Message, Scorpions) and released by Bellaphon in 1973. Most of the tracks appeared a year earlier on the LP "Elo Omega", though here they sound much more professional. Listening to Omega one can only wonder about the condition of Polish rock at the time - all that massacred and aimlessly meandering SBB or even a slightly disoriented Niemen... Well, "in the kingdom of the blind the one-eyed man is king"... Plus 9 tracks - including 3 single versions of "Dziewczyna" and German-language tracks from the radio archive. A must! -

A limited, two-record, splendid black vinyl lasting 115 minutes, released (like all Verne Records double editions) in a very attractive, single sleeve and containing a radio-broadcast (excellent sound quality!), nearly 80-minute performance recorded in Irvine, California, in June 1982 in a line-up identical to the 2LP 'Speak Of The Devil'! As a bonus a very rare performance of the Sabbath song 'Fairies Wear Boots' from San Bernardino (that is from the popular 'US Festival 1983') has been added, and the fourth side of the record is filled with a 30-minute, stunning performance from Dortmund, Germany, from December 1983! At that time Ozzy was accompanied on stage by: Jake A. Lee, Bob Daisley, Don Airey and the legend of American rock: drummer Carmine Appice (ex-Vanilla Fudge)! An absolute must! A rare, limited double CD containing unique live material by the first line-up of Ozzy Osbourne's band - democratically named Blizzard Of Ozz at the time. Alongside the former Black Sabbath vocalist the band included the young, sensational guitarist Randy Rhoads (ex-Quiet Riot), the excellent bassist Bob Daisley (ex-Kahvas Jute / Chicken Shack / Rainbow), responsible for most of the music and all the lyrics, and the drummer Lee Kerslake (ex-Uriah Heep). It was this line-up that recorded the first two and without doubt the best albums in Ozzy's solo discography, "Blizzard Of Ozz" and "Diary Of A Madman". Note! On the cover of the second record, Ozzy, at odds with the rhythm section that had just been thrown out of the band, did not give the real line-up... This double CD contains two full, hour-long Blizzard Of Ozz shows (from Taunton and from Chelmsford) recorded from the audience ('audience recordings') in October 1980, during the first British tour - just after the release of the debut. The playing is sensational (Rhoads was simply divine), and the sound quality very good, though not ideal. It is a great pleasure to listen to! In addition, at the end of the first disc three recordings from the great, official live maxi single "Mr. Crowley", from 1980 (known in the States as "Live E.P."), have been placed, but strangely never released on CD! That maxi contained the track "You Said It All", not released on any record, and that is yet another reason to have this great, 140-minute CD! A must for all heavy rock fans! (JL) -

An 80-minute, unofficial item coming mainly from a London performance recorded in February 1972, promoting the LP "Woyaya", recorded by the BBC and released by its Transcription Service in a hundred copies, intended for radio stations. The sound quality of this 52-minute performance is perhaps even better than the studio albums, and the band itself was in excellent form and played with great passion! One track comes from the Puerto Rican festival Mar Y Sol, and the last two from a festival in the Austrian Klagenfurt - all with very good quality sound, though minimally worse than that from the BBC. No track is played twice, so the whole is superb to listen to - like an old double album! I highly recommend this CD, limited to 500 copies, to all fans of progressive jazz rock! (JL) -

Released in autumn 1972, the third album, a double on vinyl, by this wonderful German band was the quintessence of the best in jazzy progressive rock! I used to think that 'the third one' was weaker than its somewhat more accessible (concise) predecessors, but I was wrong! True, on 'Four Letter' there is more trumpeting, more improvisation (especially in the 50-minute suite filling two sides of the vinyl...) and a little less guitar, but there is no lack of gradually building emotions and the music often genuinely took your breath away! It was still the same band, but playing more difficult material with somewhat greater ease. Compared with Out Of Focus, the better-known bands active at the time and obsessed with the 'fusion' style, such as Soft Machine, Nucleus or most of the Canterbury groups, simply didn't stand a chance! Unfortunately, this was the band's last catalogue album. Almost the whole second disc is filled with unreleased material from the same recording session, released in 2002 on the CD 'Rat Roads', and the last, 10-minute live track from Palermo from 1972 is also included. Excellent sound - slightly clearer than on the old CD editions, and the disc contains a nicer booklet again collecting several rare photos of this splendid band! This double CD lasts as much as 156 minutes! AN ABSOLUTE MUST! Condition: New, sealed. (JL) -
