Brilliant two-disc CD, limited to 500 copies and lasting over 150 minutes, containing the perfect-sounding, full, legendary concert from the Rainbow Theatre in London, recorded in October 1973 (during the tour promoting the LP "Selling England By The Pound"). Half of this material once came out on the official box set "Genesis Archives 1967-75", but unfortunately the band spoiled the whole thing in many places by inserting new Hackett guitar parts and Gabriel vocals! This is the uncut, ideal, 100-minute version sounding like a dream! And please look at the set of tracks!!! On the second disc four rarities are included, above all the suite "Supper's Ready" (in ideal quality), recorded in February 1973, which at the last moment did not fit on the LP "Genesis Live"! Besides that, there are two outtakes from the sessions for "Selling England" (including an excellent, almost psychedelic improvisation) and, from Rome, a charming live version of the single "Twilight Alehouse", from April 1972. Released in an attractive sleeve, a two-disc CD lasting 158 minutes containing above all a fantastic-sounding and superbly played 114-minute concert professionally recorded by the band (a so-called soundboard) on 3 January 1977 during the tour promoting the LP "Wind & Wuthering", released two days earlier. It was the second tour with Phil Collins as vocalist and unfortunately the last with Steve Hackett on guitar! On the second drum kit (in place of Bill Bruford) already played the former drummer of Zappa and Weather Report - Chester Thompson. This was probably (alongside Zurich 1977) the best-sounding concert of the whole 1977 tour. All the musicians are perfectly audible and in my opinion the whole sounds no worse than the official "Seconds Out"! Additionally, in the second part of the second CD a 45-minute, great-sounding (after remastering) radio broadcast of 7 tracks recorded 3 weeks later in Leicester, England, is included. A great advantage of this release of over two and a half hours is the unique, decidedly progressive recordings from the aforementioned "Wind & Wuthering" - completely omitted on the aforementioned catalogue 2LP 'Seconds Out' (1977)! An absolute must for progressive rock fans! Condition: New, sealed. (JL) -

I would like to note that Brian sang a little cleaner and, I think, better than in AC/DC... Especially on the first two albums this was thoroughbred, guitar-driven, heavy playing, decidedly in the vein of early Nazareth (1973), a bit like Slade and Sweet in their heavier moments and like very early AC/DC! Highly recommended! -

The Steve Gibbons Band was formed by a vocalist and guitarist who had been active on the Birmingham music scene since the early sixties. He had previously played in the bands The Ugly's and Balls (with Trevor Burton, known from The Move, and Denny Laine, formerly of the Moody Blues), and later joined Idle Race, arriving just at the end of its activity, but together with his colleagues he formed his own band. The box contains three studio albums by the band: "Any Road Up" from 1976, "Rollin' On" from 1977 and "Down In The Bunker" from 1978 and the live ones, "Caught In The Act" from 1977 and "BBC Radio One In Concert" recorded on 17 November 1977 at the Golders Green Hippodrome in London. A total of nineteen bonus tracks have been added to the first four, taken mainly from John Peel's broadcasts. The band's music is hard rock with elements of folk, and Gibbons himself has been compared to Bob Seger. All the records have been remastered, and the whole thing comes in a rigid box. (MU) -

Sensational! Four-disc box set from the British label Lemon containing, made for Bronze Records, the first four albums by the best all-female formation in the history of rock! The LP "Demolition", released in 1980, and the next one, "Hit & Run" (1981), are absolute classics of the NWOBHM genre - very energetic, juicy and at the same time melodic playing, somewhat reminiscent of a slightly softened version of Motorhead's "Ace Of Spades"! These are albums I have listened to regularly since I was 15! The next two records maintained a high level, but compared with their predecessors were already slightly weaker ("Screaming Blue Murder" from 1982 - still very heavy, metal, and the Slade-produced LP "Play Dirty" from 1983 - already somewhat mellowed, more geared towards the American market). In addition twelve great bonus tracks from singles are included, among them my favourite, the sensational live "Demolition Boys"! Please have a look at the old video for the track "C'mon Let's Go" or the duet performance with Motorhead... A must! (JL) -

What an excellent album! The American trio Glass Harp played in 1970-1972 very British, richly arranged (flute, occasional strings, frequent changes of mood), guitar-driven, heavyish rock - somewhat resembling a very richly arranged Wishbone Ash. The excellent guitarist Phil Keaggy has always been regarded as one of the best guitarists in the States! Catchy melodies, rich arrangements and at least 4 tracks lasting 6-8 minutes each. In addition a nearly 30-minute, heavily improvised version of the classic "Can You See Me" recorded at New York's Carnegie Hall! A MUST! -

A black vinyl limited to 500 copies, lasting over 50 minutes, released in a beautiful, psychedelic, laminated sleeve. Glass Menagerie was a psychedelic/progressive group from Manchester, active in 1966-1970 and responsible for five decent singles. However, the band came across far better during the superb radio sessions that are, as it were, the quintessence of late psychedelia and early progressive rock in the style of Spooky Tooth, Procol Harum, or very early Deep Purple (with Evans and Simper)! This album sounds like a never-released, forgotten, top-shelf rock classic! The tracks, recorded only in the studio, contain almost no announcements, and the sound quality is almost ideal! To a large extent it is different material from that contained on the compilation CD. After the band split, the excellent guitarist Alan Kendall moved to Toe Fat (and a few years later 'gained fame and fortune' in the Bee Gees), the vocalist/keyboard player Lou Stonebridge founded Paladin, and the drummer Bill Atkinson played (as Harrison) in Mogul Thrash. Much more information about the band can be found in my book "Brytyjski rock w latach 1961-1979 (G-J)". ATTENTION! All the recordings sound better, or decidedly better, than the YouTube versions (links below), and the tape speed has also been corrected. The vinyl pressing is simply excellent (no hiss whatsoever) and I am sure that every fan of old rock playing with Hammond organ will be delighted with this LP! A must! Condition: MINT (NEW, unsealed). -
